Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Kyle's schedule is getting more complex every day. Not sure if y'all remember he played with the Louisiana Knights during the summer last year. The coach called him last night and invited him back for the summer. He accepted but did tell coach that his umpiring schedule comes first. He'll only be available to play when it's not a work conflict. He was also asked over the weekend to pitch for the local Dizzy Dean 18-19 year old team. He's SO happy to be able to pitch again, and I love seeing that smile on his face. Sorry, I always seem to ramble on when it comes to my boy.:guilty:

Just my opinion....NOTHING is worth losing that precious time with your DD. Both of you would be missing out on some of the best times in her life.

Hugs girl! I def think you are doing the right thing. Ill keep you in my prayers that a new position comes up quickly for you.

I think you are doing the right thing looking for a position that doesn't require moving or being away from your family.

Thank you ladies....I have not been myself the last few months. I think in my heart I knew what I had to do but was afraid of the consequences. Now I am going to be the adult and do what's best for ME and my mental health.

Kathy - it is your right as a mother to go on and on about your baby. ;)

Thank you ladies....I have not been myself the last few months. I think in my heart I knew what I had to do but was afraid of the consequences. Now I am going to be the adult and do what's best for ME and my mental health.

 I can totally relate. It is hard and scary but necessary.

I feel rotten AGAIN. I am so sick and tired of being sick and tired. :sad1: My whole body aches and I'm coughing to the point where it hurts. I wish I could take a day off but I'm running out of days and they will just tell me it's a virus and they can't do anything for me.

Bethany- feel better:hug:

Kathy- you didn't ramble, that was barely 3-4 lines! Now me, I ramble:rotfl:. But, You can ramble any time about your boy!!

Terry- I agree with the others. Do Not miss out-they are only with us for so long, then it is done and they are on there own. I will pray you find a local job.

Lorie- the cyber thanks was fine with me!! I totally enjoyed yesterday! Sienna is a gorgeous and sweet girl! Todd was very nice too.

This has been an emotional day. Church service this morning was unbeleivable with it being Armed Forces Day this past week and the music and the sermon..... me and my friends were in tears and one leaned over and told me she didn't know how we were going to leave our church family. I bawled even more. I truly love my church-it fits us well. Our contemporary band rocks!! If you ever hear of Courtney Cole in the music business(country is what she wants to do), she started here at St Timothy UMC!!

Now I am rambling....:lmao:

My BIL mentioned interest in our house today, this is my DN6(the one we are super close to) step dad. I told him if he wasn't serious to shut up b/c that would make this move THAT much easier on my heart and the move- my DSis, and her family here in our special place. Then thinking of all the fees and selling issues we could surpass. I told him if they were serious to get thier credit report, get qualified and see if thjey can afford it. It's not a high end home here so I am praying it can happen.

Lori

Hugs to you Terry. As a mom, I can totally understand how you feel. Good luck finding something local.

I hope you feel better soon Bethany. Your move is getting here quickly.

Good Morning Ladies.

Thanks so much for the link to the pictures. It looked like ya'll had a wonderful time. We had a Cafe Cafe in Mandeville and it closed a few months ago. It was one of our favorite hang outs. I miss that place and the deserts are soooooo good.

The wedding on Saturday was wonderful. My niece was beautiful, my kids did great, the drinks were flowing and we danced the night away. We had a second line from the church to the hotel. It was only a three block walk but with a police escort, a brass band leading the way and about 400 people making the trek while tourist were taking your picture was so exciting. Now that it's over I am officially in Disney mode for our trip next week.

I hope everyone is doing well. I have to go back and see what I missed.

Morning all.. getting ready to send Jack off .. this is the last week!

What is up with this weather? Poor kiddos at J's school.. field day is today and it pretty much revolves around water activities. Supposed to send him in his swimsuit, but Im not even bothering to do that. : ( .

Wow Kat.. seems like Kyle is going to have a crazy summer lol. When is that pretty girlfriend going to get to see him ?
Guess he will be able to relax a little when he gets to school in the fall. HAHA!

Bethany I hope you feel better ASAP.. you have been sick off and on for a while now.

Morning Y'all,

I think it feels quite nice out there! We had a nice quiet day yesterday. Church, then late brunch at Parrot Pete's, shopping at Rouse's. Then we came home, visited with neighbor/cousin family on the patio.

Lorie, Thank you for the thank you note! I'm glad we were able to do it! It was so much fun, I hope we can all do it again next month! (Well not the baby shower, but the getting together part!)

She's been walking around today with her play birthday cake set and has been singing "Happy Birthday" and passing out slices of cake to her stuffed animals. In her mind, the party just continues!

:lovestruc:cutie: The child knows how to party!

Kathy whenever you are ready to head here and eat at Texas.. Im there with ya girl ; ).

Uuhh, when are we doing this?! :goodvibes

I have been cleaning and cooking since about 11. It feels as if I have been out of it lately. My house looks a mess...don't get me wrong dh has been doing a good job of cleaning however we are pack rats and stuff is everywhere. So needless to say I have filled 3 tall garbage bags of stuff! :woohoo:

Okay guys I need a friendly ear.....Lately I have been really thinking about this opportunity I have accepted in Jackson. Yes it is a good managerial job however due to the continued delay in the spin date I am having second thoughts. I can not pay for an apartment in Jackson as well as a mortgage here in NOLA. DD will be starting UA in the fall and I absolutely hate that I will not be around to enjoy this experience with her. Yes her father, grandmother and my best friend will be here to help however it won't be the same as if I was here. It doesn't help that DH has not found a job yet either. :sad1:So I am geering towards finding another job with Entergy that will keep me in the NOLA area. I have not mentioned to anyone yet but I will start actively looking this week. I need reassurance that I am doing the right thing. :guilty

Prayers & good wishes that you will make the right decision for your family! :flower3: Honestly, I don't know how you have managed to do this back & forth for so long! It must be soo hard on all of you!

My house is a wreck too. I really can't do the floors myself anymore, so I found a housekeeper. Problem is I can't keep the clutter controled enough for her to come & clean! :sad2:

This has been an emotional day....

My BIL mentioned interest in our house today...
Lori

Lori, I'm sure that leaving your church & friends is going to be very hard. Prayers that y'all get through it.

That would be great if your BIL could seing buying the house! :wizard: I pray that works out, it would make life so much easier!

Kat, You hardly rambled! You do read my posts don't you??? ;) Now I ramble!

I'm just so happy for Kyle & his Mom! :goodvibes

Kristina, On the Corks n Canvas, If we book a regular time (not a private one) do you know if we can still bring in food & drinks? I doubt that we'd have 20 of us to do a private party. I do think it would be a blast!

If we can't or don't want to do Corks n Canvas, The Posh Paint Pub on Metaire Rd has 8 person minimum to paint pottery. More info:
http://www.poshpaintpub.com/www/index.php?page=parties

Jenny, The kids won't tell y'all they are cold. You won't know until there lips turn blue! ;) I hope they have fun, maybe the teachers will pull out some games other than water stuff.

Good Morning y'all!

I swear I thought yesterday was going to be "the day"... I woke up feeling terrible- very tired, achy, and sweating with horrible pain and pelvic pressure. I thought for sure my water was going to break or contractions start. But no, nothing happened. I went to bed and actually had a good night's sleep and feel fine today. :confused3 Little guy is messin' with me already!

What is up with this weather? I'm definitely not complaining, but when I woke up this morning, my hardwood floor felt too cold to go barefoot- I had to put on my flipflops!

I agree with everyone else- I think you are making the right decision. I know it would be terribly difficult to be separated from my DD. A job just isn't worth it, IMO. You need to do what will ease your mind.

Oh please, ramble away! We all do our share of rambling here- that's what we're here for! I'm glad Kyle has found his "spark" again!

I hope you feel better soon. I'm hoping that when you move here, the heat just melts away any germs or sickness you've got! :rotfl: My father actually believed that- whenever we were sick when we were younger, he would make us go sit outside in the sunshine for a little while because he swore that the sunshine and warmth would help cure anything. Crazy, but I would feel better after sitting outside for awhile.

This has been an emotional day. Church service this morning was unbeleivable with it being Armed Forces Day this past week and the music and the sermon..... me and my friends were in tears and one leaned over and told me she didn't know how we were going to leave our church family. Lori
:grouphug: to you. I hope that the house sale can be worked out so it makes things easier for you. Heck, DH and I were complaining about our house again, and I joked with him that I knew of a house going up for sale on the Northshore soon...;)

Tricia- Sounds like the wedding was a blast! A second line and a brass band- definitely a New Orleans wedding!

Morning everyone! Quick fly by here - it's been a crazy Monday already.

Just wanted to thank K for the meet pics! It looked like I missed one heck of a surprise! And if that cake tasted half as good as it looked ....
Oh, well, I'll have to try harder & catch the next one.

Lori - I don't think I've passed on my best wishes for the relocation & DH's new job. It sounds like things are falling into place, and you're being allowed a generous amount of time to transition. I know it'll be tough saying goodbye, but it's sounding to me like you're ready to turn the page on the newest chapter in your adventure!

Terry - I can't blame you for second guessing the Jackson move. Maybe there's a "Greater" reason for the delay? DH passed up a great promotion just a few months ago for the same reason. He knew the trade off in time away from the boys would just not be worth the new position.

Are y'all serious about Corks n Canvas? I just read a piece on them a week or so ago (I think there's one here in BR now). That sounds like it has big potential for fun! Keep me posted, please.

Believe me, he'll find the time for Mariah....

Morning Y'all,

I think it feels quite nice out there! We had a nice quiet day yesterday. Church, then late brunch at Parrot Pete's, shopping at Rouse's. Then we came home, visited with neighbor/cousin family on the patio.

Sounds like a very nice day, I'm still po'd about the prosciutto....

Won't be long now!!!!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Jack just called from school.. teacher told him to call and get me to bring swimsuit.

I am now officially one of those parents. Just called the secretary and let loose.. well not full blown let loose but def told her I didnt appreciate them putting my kid in the water when its breezy and 56 degrees !

Chad felt bad and brought him his suit, but now is checking him out of school LOL. Jack decided he didnt want to play in the water after all. Haha.. good thinking Jack!!

Guess we will take him to the movies to make up for missing field day.

Ugh just did a multi quote and lost it all!

Tricia, I'm so glad the wedding turned out so well! A 3 block second line sounds like a lot of fun!

Bethany, I'm worrying about how sick you've been! I hope coming down here makes a big difference!

CajunMom, You have to join us next month, we missed you! I would love to do Corks n Canvas! Don't know if we have enough girls for a party. It would be fun!

(Tricia, You have to come too!)

Lorie, That sure sounds like Erik is getting anxious to be here! Do you feel ready if he comes early?

Jen, Sorry the teachers weren't a bit smarter. If the kids don't want to play in water, it has to be too cold!

Thanks ya'll! I love you all!
Paul and I got to go on a date Saturday night-my friend had both of my girls sleep over!! We went to a movie and dinner(God have we spent some money this weekend:rolleyes1). We saw Star Trek(DH's pick and I didn't have a preference) and went to Copelands, where I had a glass of wine(Pinot Grigio that was really good). Well, being that I had spent the whole 15 minutes from the movie to a late dinner and in the parking lot boohooing over leaving(I mean uncontrolled sobbing like a baby), the wine put me right OUT! Paul was really cool about it and even told me we didn't HAVE to do it if it upset me this MUCH, but I told him that I am cool with moving but he would just have to expect me to have my moments-and LET me have them. We moved on to a nice dinner though and talked a lot about what situation we want the kids to spend thier teen years in. Part of my uncontrolled sobbing is this....

When we moved out of the home I grew up in in River Ridge that we were in for my 1st 18 years of life, and due to a divorce-I felt like I was losing EVERYTHING. I do not like change and I guess I get hung up on the safety and love that home provided for so long. Literally, Paul had to drag me kicking and screaming crying away from that house when we were 18, on moving day.

So we talked about the very different reasons from that time to this move. The safety comes from my family being together, not the house-and we are not getting divorced no matter how much he can get on my nerves:rotfl:.

So, probably needless to say and TMI, our night without kids was spent with me knocked out!:thumbsup2

I know, i am RAMBLING again!

I am probably gonna reminisce with you as our time here in this house comes to a close. I will feel like this....:cloud9: :lovestrucand you will be like....:headache:"girl, get over it and go to Houston!!" and maybe a few of these.....

Lori

well, maybe i'll start a thread for that....or put it on my homeschool blog...hmmmm

Oh Lori.... Stop lol. As if I have said nothing about this move. I've been so quiet about it. :lmao:

The irony of your field day issues with Jack is that last year ours got canceled due to a "heat emergency". This is an official NYC term for when the temperature goes above 90. You are supposed to stay inside in air conditioning. The city actually opens shelters that have AC so people without it can go and cool off.

I am feeling only marginally better today. Every time I have gone to the doctor, they say it is a virus. I have had a Virus Parade appaerntly because I'm approaching 9 months of being sick almost the whole time. This happened last school year too, and the one before it, and the one before that...time to get out of here! The last time the doctor did tell me I needed to move...

We are hoping we get shut down. Over 110 kids are absent and more than 15 staff. Rumor has it that 2 teachers are in the hospital. And 2 teachers were sent home sick today after coming in. If we do close, I'm not going to post it here unless it is city or borough wide. I do not want my school name public.

Gotta get going... Only 3 more hours. I had planned to stay late today to work on that end of year to do list, but I am going home at 3 instead to rest.

UGHHH LORI.. Now Im crying for you. :sad2::sad1::rotfl:

:hug::hug:

HAHA Bethany.. Heat emergency!! Thats funny stuff. If that is how it worked here, we would have shelters open all summer.

Thanks ya'll! I love you all!

Friend, You can cry, reminisce as much as you need to! Now I'm going to cry. I'm sad that it has taken us all so long to get together! We should have done this a long time ago. I feel like I've gained such a good friend in you & now I'm going to lose you to Houston. :sad1: ( I have my own issues with Houston & my brother moving there.)

I have to tell you that Paul sounds like a very good & wise husband! You are blessed to have him & your beautiful daughters and THAT IS HOME, no matter where you live!!!

9 months sounds like much too long for it to be viruses. :confused3

Have they said if it's swine flu? If they close the school now, won't y'all have to make up the lost school days? That wouldn't be good.

Chad felt bad and brought him his suit, but now is checking him out of school LOL. Jack decided he didnt want to play in the water after all. Haha.. good thinking Jack!!

Smart boy, have fun today!;)

 You can ramble here anytime, we love you.

If we do close, I'm not going to post it here unless it is city or borough wide. I do not want my school name public.

:scared1: I would think y'all have met the criteria to be shut down with those numbers!

Now I'm going to cry. I'm sad that it has taken us all so long to get together! We should have done this a long time ago.

I cried too. I also told Johnny yesterday that it's not fair that we're just getting to know Lori and she's leaving us.:sad1:

lori - puh-lease. Reminisce and ramble all you want. We all know how hard it is to leave here. Even Bethany can't resist this place. ;)

That Jack is one smart kid. Everyone else will be calling in sick tomorrow.

Heat emergency! :lmao: Can you imagine that here? OR in WDW? The whole gulf coast would be shut down for 3/4 of the year. :rotfl: (I mean, I know they close some roads and stuff when it snows here, but we don't have tires, equipment and driving skills for snow.) People were surviving 90 degree temps long before A/C was invented. I find it fascinating how different areas deal with different conditions. I've heard from people that lived there that most people in California won't drive if it's raining. And they treat earthquakes the way we treat tropical storms - no big deal.
