I read somewhere here about not being allowed to ride water slides when you have metal (zippers, grommets, etc) on your swimsuit. I understand the reasoning behind this, but my kids have atleast 1/2 dozen suits each and only ONE out of the bunch does not have anything metal on it. How closely do they check your suit?

as long as the suit does not resemble Gothic night at the local club, don't worry about it. I worked at Blizzard about 4 years ago or so and we really only looked for metal when you were going on the speed slides (Slush Gusher and Summit Plummet) because you could get injured on those if there was an excessive amount of metal on the suit. For the other slides, it really was not an issue. Use your judgment as to where the metal on the suit would fall on your kids if they were sitting down. If it is on the front of the suit don't worry, but if it is on the sides and can be pushed into their leg while they are going down a slide (while sitting) or on the back that would push into their back (while laying down) then I would think twice about it.

I don't know how closely they check.

I think it benefits everybody if you have the suits without the metal to wear them. The metal can damage the fiberglass slides.

I agree completely. However all the boy's suits have rear pockets with 1 or 2 small grommets. (I always assumed they did this so water and/or sand could flow out). They are usually pretty small so I am hoping this isn't something that would be an issue.
:D

Grommets will not be a problem. It is the zippers and metal rivets like on Levis that are the problem.
