Metal joint replacement and the new security screening at Disney Springs

Has anyone seen how they handle ECV users through the new Security screening? Can we just drive through or do we have to go through additional screening?

I have titanium rods and other pieces in my back - have never set off any alarms at Disney or the airport

This is actually one of the selling points of these new machines is that metal joint replacements, bone replacements, etc. should not set it off while they can be set that even plastic versions of weapons can be detected, making them much more effective than metal detectors with fewer false positives.

If it is like before, sometimes they ask if you can walk a short distance and if so, you park, walk through the scanner and sit back down on the ECV, probably 10 to 15 steps at most. But technically the new scanners should be able to be setup to essentially ignore the ECV and you should be able to go right through, so that would be interesting as well.

My knees always set off the security alarms. At the airport I get patted down. At Disney they just use the wand around my knees. I am happy to see newer machines that will stop all this.

Thank you for this information. New surgery of a complete and complex knee replacemebt. I am now the proud owner of a titanium complete hinged knee and was worried about going through security!
