DH and I had our Siamese male for about five months before we got him a female friend (we got her about two months ago). During that time I never noticed poop anywhere, not on the floor, walls, no where. Sure he'd get litter out of the box, but what cat doesn't. About two-three weeks ago I noticed TONS of litter out of the box and poop smears everywhere!! I vacuum where the litter box is daily due to the amounts of litter that end up even 10 feet away and in a different room. Now I'm noticing smears of poo on the floors!! I'm dying here! I just bought a new litter box that actually has a swinging door to help control the litter but alas there is still more litter on the floor than I can believe. What is going on?! If I moved the litter box to carpet which I will soon when we get a washer and dryer I'm afraid there will be poo all through the carpets.

The first thing I'd do is get the cat checked out at the Vet. If there are no underlying problems with its health, it may be a territorial thing. If you don't have two litter boxes, you should really get another one.

Neutering might help if he hasn't been already but that's more associated with urine problems. Also, have you changed his food recently? That can also cause potty problems.

It is unusual for cats to have bowel problems so getting him to the Vet would be my number one priority.

Hope everything works out. Let us know!

Definitely, see a vet. However, note that if you just changed litter box on the cats, they could be protesting the change. It's not very likely; but remember: They don't care about getting litter on the floors, eh? :)

I ended up buying a huge litter pan at Petsmart, it almost looks like a small storage box, was contemplating the Booda box but that thing was so big it looked like a piece of furniture, that at least solved most of the litter on the floor, as for the poo, yes defineately take him to the vet, it maybe even a change in food?

Another vote for the vet. If you are noticing "smears" on the floor that means the cat (or cats) are rubbing their behinds on the floor. Itching like that is usually a sign of some sort of tract infection. I would have them both checked out. :cat:
