Messed up fast pass - thoughts?

Hi everyone. I am fairly new to this and completely messed up my fast pass for MK. I thought the requirement for Mine Train was 40'' (it is 38'') and I failed to get a pass for me and my two year old. (He does not need one - but I did not get it for me). The other kids and my husband are going on it. But, now there are no fast passes left and I realized that he is height to go on it. Do fast passes ever become available (we are 45 days out) or am I crazy to keep looking? I am hoping I might get lucky b/c I only need one!

Keep looking if you all want to go on it at the same time. I got two FP for it less than 30 days out.

Also, do rider swap. Go at the time you have the FP for, ask for a pass, and stay back with your son while your kids and husband ride. Then, you can go with you son after, at any point of the day! The rider swap pass is good for three riders so another kid could ride it again. Rider swap in combo with FP is great.

I think the problem is he is tall enough to ride. Rider switch is generally for kids too short to ride.
Just keep checking. Check times around the existing fast pass. You don't have to have the exact same time.

That's true. But I think even taller kids who are too scared to ride can use rider swap?

And yes, search individual fast passes. You can get times that overlap enough to where it may work out.

I agree to keep trying for an overlapping time - we had one pop up while we were there last time, so we were able to get in another ride on our second MK day - just have to be persistent! If you cannot get one, could you rope drop it? This is the next best option to get it in with a shorter wait.

We used rider swap I November for my nephew who was tall enough (barely) but young and just scared to ride. So you should be able to do that if you can't pick up an extra FP.

That can be a slippery slope. Though Disney's description of rider switch describes exactly what you said, you'll more often than not find people denied a rider switch based on a person simply not wanting to ride.

Gotcha. We have a one and three year old so we haven't experienced this yet.

As it should be in this case. There is no child who is either too short or doesn't want to ride. Everyone in the party will be riding - using the rider swap is just a suggestion to cheat the system (OP I know that it wasn't your suggestion or that you've said you'll follow it).

If you can't get overlapping times, I would ask guest services if they can help you when you arrive or even explain the situation when you show up for the ride. Never hurts to ask.

Very good point.

Yeah, you're right. Since everyone would be riding it would be taking advantage of the system. Keep searching for those FPs, OP! I bet you'll snag a couple, just maybe not at the perfect time. I've also had good luck making FP reservations then adding more to the party. Have fun!

FP isn't required (although I agree with others to keep looking).

Show up at rope drop for the shortest wait or monitor MDE for a decent wait time while you are in MK.

I think this is the answer. I bet if you sweetly explain the situation to guest relations, they'd give you one fp to join your family.
