Message for PixieBella

that entire post made me do this :cold: :cold: :cold: :cold:

no offense. ;)

gravy? as in what the italian folk call gravy (ie marinara sauce?) we have that its called pizza fries (marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese on fries). Or did you mean something along the lines of brown beef gravy? *shudders* ;)

Since PixieBella's thread has become a strange melange of weird food combinations and odd eating-habits, I have some important questions to ask you all related to a habit of mine for which I take much grief.

Picture this: A function at which there will be a meal served buffet-style. A dessert plate is already filled and waiting at each table setting.

Now-- I tend to eat a little of the meal and then, when the time is right (which my palate recognizes), I have a bite from the dessert. Then a little more meal, then a bite from the dessert. Eventually, the meal is finished and a few bites of dessert remain. These are then decidedly dispatched down my gullet.

Those people bold enough to react to this order of events have asked me if my mother ever told me to finish my meal before eating the dessert.

The questions:
1. I ask you, has western civilization not yet evolved (or devolved) to the point where a free person cannot have a bite of his dessert when he so chooses?

2. If I choke and die on the steak, was I not right to enjoy a little dessert first?

3. Must we abide by all the advice and instruction our sainted mothers provided us?

4. Am I the only person in the Dis-universe who does this?

Your response (read: affirmation) is appreciated.

I think it is the green-eyed monster coming through those people ;) They just wish they had the gull to carry out that order of eating :)

Now as for the order in which dessert is eaten is 110% up to the person eating it. I tend to eat some dessert before dinner even begins! But I also consider watermelon a dessert LOL. (and I just finished off a piece of my chocolate cake while waiting for DH to get home and eat dinner with me :earseek: ).

i just had 2 strawberry pop-tarts while i'm waiting for my burgers to cook. Guess that counts as dessert too lol.

NJMike, I do the french fries and mustard thing. Not a big ketchup fan...but do love mustard. Umm...delicious. But gravy?? Gravy is wonderful with many things...I have yet to see anyone do the gravy and french fries thing Belle!

Ah yes...the joys of strange food combinations!

well then,

you have to try the bologna, mayo (miracle whip), and pretzel sandwhich. ;)

FYI: French fries + gravy = Canadian delicacy called poutine. We Americans call it "heart attack on a platter". :teeth:

Did you know that the french fry as we know it originated not in France, but in Belgium, and they served it with mayonnaise. They still do this. I know this because my mother is from Belgium, and she considered it a treat when she was a kid. They'd have these carts where they strictly served french fries like it was ice cream or frankfurters.

They may be high in saturated fat, but man, is that good eatin'!

Chips (fries to you lot) and gravy is well known over here in England as well as the French Fry sandwich, or to give it its proper name the good old Chip Butty.

Wait until you guys discover mushy peas. :earsboy:

Mayonaise with chips? Well known throughout Europe as well as good old curry sauce to add a bit of zing to your chips.

Ok since I heart this thread so much....let me tell you what I had for dinner!

I just made some mac n cheese and added pesto sauce to it!!! It is so good. :goodvibes
I know this is not going out too far on a limb with combing different things, but I really like my new creation :)

sounds pretty good. Only thing with pesto, for me, is that every time i see it it reminds me of the scene in shrek where he lights the "candle" on the dinner table. I dont know why pesto makes me think of that particular substance lol. But then again i put a little hersheys syrup and amoretto in my homemade spaghetti sauce when i make it, so who am i to criticize? :teeth:

I have to admit that when I was a kid (a LONG time ago) the Pepsi and milk mixture was a poor kid's creme soda. If mixed properly (I remember about 1/3 Pepsi and 2/3 milk) it was very close. We always had both around the house because dad was a Pepsi drinker and mom was a milk drinker.

I also used to eat one thing totally off the plate before starting on the next. I got this from my paternal grandfather. He ate one plate full of one item at a time before eating the next plate full of another item. He (unlike me) could eat four plates full of food at every meal and remain as skinny as a rail.

My eating habits are a lot more normal now, except I still like cheese on / in almost anything. Peanut butter and cheese sandwiches on toast is still a favorite.

yum!

:sunny: Good morning all of you nosy people!! :sunny:

This was a message for me you know!!

Last night my DH took me out for ice cream and in honor of this thread I ordered waffle fries for the table and...

I dipped my waffle fry into DH's whipped cream!! :Pinkbounc Aren't you excited for me!! :rotfl2:

It was disgusting by the way. You people are all freaks and need professional help. I say that in the sweetest way possible. :smooth:

I love cheese on or in almost anything and I love peanut butter. But I don't think I could do them together! :crazy2:

But it is interesting to read about different food habits! DH thought I was crazy the first time he saw me dip a fry in a Wendy's Frosty! But I learned it from my older sister and now, I won't have a Frosty unless I can have fries with it!

So maybe I did get the ratios wrong...I went 1:1 Pepsi to Milk. ;)

Anyways, I have to second the motion stating cheese is wonderful with everything. I'm having a hard time thinking of something I haven't had with cheese before....

yes when having chinese i like to dip my chips into curry sauce we get :)

i also like adding sugar to things and if i have something like a chocolate bar and a frube (a youghurt you can take with you without a spoon) i put th #e yoghurt from inside onto it and eat :)

For me, chips (fries) have to come with both ketchup and mayo, which are mixed together, voila, chips and pink sauce!

I can eat my food mixed together, but I tend to save my favourite things for last, so that it the last taste in my mouth!!

I do also enjoy raw mushrooms with malt vinegar.

The Wolf trained as a chef, so we do have fun on 'experiment' nights (usually tastes great, whatever he does - better say that in case he reads this, LOL)

ok i tried the drink i think i put in too much pepsi (well really we only had diet coke so i used that) and it was a mixture of nice and pretty strange

really i gave it to my friend who didn't like it so i gave it to my sister who didn't like it

(dad's bday today :) :bday: :bday: )
