Hi,
Wondering what folks experience has been with Merida's meet and greet. Are there usually long lines? Best time to avoid lines? Good character interaction?
Thanks for any information you can share. :)

Great character interaction but lines can certainly build. Waits of 30 minutes are pretty common.

Was there the last week of Oct and visited Merida on 10/28. Got line around 4:30 and waited maybe 25 mins. Awesome character interaction. My niece had a skirt on that the material was all the 7 dwarfs. Merida was talking to her about all her friends. It was cute. Anyway - at that time of day there was no shade and quite hot. Temp was mid 80s but with no shade made it hotter. Not that I'm complaining. First polar vortex of the season is upon me now. =(

Thanks so much for the helpful info. We'll try to catch Merida early and cross our fingers for short lines.
Can't believe we leave this Saturday! :yay:

Her first meet/ greet is at 9:15 am (at least when we've been). We generally go directly there and meet her first thing. I'm not sure if it is the best plan but it works for us.

Here's my full story-

I wanted to meet Merida when I went in July. It wasn't my top priority but still on my bucket list. It's my last day at the parks, so I figured I'd hop in line in the afternoon and wait it out. Throughout the week, I kept seeing the long lines and telling myself "Oh, I'll just come back when it's shorter", but it looked like the sky was about to open up so I figured it was now or never.

I ended up waiting about 30 minutes. The CM was warning us that if the thunder got much closer, they'd have to shut down the M&G and we wouldn't be able to meet her unless she re-opened (which she probably wouldn't have for the evening). Luckily, I was the last one allowed into the M&G area that evening.

They were rushing her to get through all of us in the area in time, and she was really sweet. She hastily signed a little girl's autograph book even though her CM shouted at people to just take a photo and leave. When it was my turn, she welcomed me with a hug and apologized for being rushed off. She explained that the CMs were only worried about everyone's safety, and noticing that I had curly hair she joked "and you KNOW how our hair gets in this weather!". I asked her how she kept her curly hair maintained and she told me she used spring water before we snapped a quick pic and she was rushed back inside.

In the end, I think my quick little meet with her was worth the time I spent waiting, but maybe not the stress. If you notice the weather has been iffy, and you have another day at MK, I'd try another attraction. If not, wait it out in the long lines. The queue isn't even that bad.

Sorry for the really long story!

I am a grandmother but really wanted to meet Merida on my October trip with a friend. My time in line was about 30 minutes, but the queue is interesting and there are things for the kids to do so it passes quickly. She was very charming and took several pictures with me even tho I was an adult alone.

DD4 is of course obsessed with Frozen, loves Ariel (#1 a year ago), but had her best experience meeting Merida. Now she wants the Merida dress and a bow and arrow set for christmas! Merida was very, very personable and chatted with her for a while about my daughters curly hair, her two little brothers, etc. Easily the most personable and chatty of the princesses.

We missed out on Merida last time we went in 2012, so she's definitely a priorty this time when we arrive this weekend. The lines were just too long last time, and after an hour we had to leave for a BBB appointment.

We met her the morning we ate at CP. We went straight there after breakfast (everyone else was rushing to A&E and SDMT). We were first in line and our only wait was waiting until 9:15. Merida took my kids by the hand and walked them up to where she meets. It was wonderful!! We were so caught up that we forgot to get autographs! We just told the CM and she took her our books and got them signed.

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences. It sounds like time spent with Merida is really magical.

Can be long lines, but she is my favorite interaction in the park! She is hilarious.

The Merida M&G is wonderful! When I went earlier this year, I went to EMH at MK, and decided to get in line for her since I had done some of my fave rides during the first hour. I asked her about her brothers and she got very excited, and it was just a really fun interaction with her.

Merida does have the best interactions. We never miss her because of them.

Her first meet/ greet is at 9:15 am (at least when we've been). We generally go directly there and meet her first thing. I'm not sure if it is the best plan but it works for us.

This is what we do also. I typically wait in line while DH and DGD go ride the Tea Cups a time or two.

Funny story, last trip we were waiting along the path from the castle when I look up and see a rabbit hopping down the path. He stopped as he approached the people and jumped up on the wall and scurried in to the landscaping, throwing mulch all over the wall and ground. A couple CMs came along a few minutes later to clean up after him. I commented that the only thing that would have made that more entertaining was for it to have been a white rabbit (since we were just up the path from Alice and the Tea Cups. I was amazed there was a rabbit living wild in Magic Kingdom. Though I am sure, if there is one there are others.

First thing is good if you can get there for it.

Not to be a downer, but we had a really lame M&G with Merida this past time. Like one of the worst M&Gs we've ever had at Disney. It was very disappointing. So glad to hear people had better ones.

I met Merida by chance at MNSSHP this year. It was the the best interaction of my trip! (Anna was a close second). She really took time to talk to me and play around a bit which was awesome since I am 42 and had no children with me. My biggest disappointment this trip was with Cinderella.

I came across a lot of disappointing Cinderellas this trip, too.

For the "signature" princess at MK she is always disappointing to me. I guess it's because she has such a regal demeanor. It makes her less personable. She's sweet but I can't ever call her fun.

Maybe that's what makes Merida, Anna and even Rapunzel more fun. They are much more light hearted and fun loving characters. They can cut up and joke around and stay in character.

Merida has been the highlight of the past two trips I've seen her. She's incredibly infectious and joyful. Well worth any sort of wait to meet this Scottish lass!
