Hello. I have been searching Disney's site and not having any luck figuring out where AP holders receive merchandise discounts in 2015. The list I found shows basically no locations (as in two in AK and a few in DTD) which is not what I remember from our last trip. In the past, we have had one member (me) of the family upgrade to an AP for discounts and access to TIW. Given the discounts we've received, this has always made sense. Now it seems that there are no discounts in the theme park shops, which would make it less reasonable. We are wondering if this might be the time to just get 10-day hoppers and try the DDP, since the cost without TIW is basically a wash for us.

TIA!:)

I found very few things places last year around the whole "world." I didn't shop at all this past April. I'm going again in a couple of weeks, and just plan to see what happens. If that's your only reason to upgrade, I'd probably skip it. Do you have the Disney visa? The stores that I can't get an ap discount in, I can usually get a cardholder discount in.

If you go to the Annual Passholder webpage and click on 2015 Benefits and then Merchandise Benefits and Discounts, you find a a description of the current benefits. It's more a list of places where the benefits do not apply, which would indicate the benefits are applicable at all other location. When I was there in October, the AP discount was valid at most all Disney-owned/operated stores in the parks and DTD.

What? I get my AP discount at just about everywhere I shop. Hotels, Parks, Downtown Disney. I don't think I have ever been told no at a Disney owned store. When they dropped it from 20% at WOD to 10% I was aggravated until I found out now I can use it throughout the world. Way better for me.

I found the best thing to do is if I am paying no matter if it's Disney or Private, Food or Shopping - I ask "what discounts do you accept?" because I have an AP, Disney Visa and TIW.

This is a relief! It sounds like I was just reading the list incorrectly, and if most of the interior park locations offer the discount, this may still be a viable option. We tend to buy enough in during Disney trips to make a 10% discount a worthwhile chunk. Thanks, everyone!

The only place I didn't get a discount was the store in Japan. It's not Disney owned, so I understood. I remember getting it at The Emporium, World of Disney, Arribas Brothers, some shop in DHS and more. Tables in Wonderland alone is worth quite a bit anyway. I think you were misinformed.

If you read the details, the discount is good at pretty much and Disney owned/operated location (so not Japan, China, etc) and good on WDW merchandise (not Titleist golf clubs, DVDs, etc). Basically things that WDW themselves sells at a fairly high markup, so eating the 10% discount doesn't cause them any financial hardship.
