merangie(sp) powder same as just whites powder

Hi just wondering if Merangie powder is the same as just whites ( egg white powder ) powder ? Thanks .. need some help making smoothies with protien and don't want to use uncooked egg whites ! Thanks Michelle

Nope-merangue powder has sugar and cream of tatar in it. It is usually used making Royal Icing decorations for cakes. For protien in smoothies you want whey powder (dairy based), powdered egg whites (don't have the dangers of raw eggs) or soy protein powder (blech!)

Thanks jsmith , I wanted to be sure I am getting the right stuff on my 6 week body makeover program - now to find the powdered egg whites so i can eat something other then hard boiled egg whites for breakfast .. Thanks again Michelle

I really think that Meringue Powder and "Just Whites" is the same. I've used both when making frostings. (I can find Wilton Meringue powder in Texas, Just Whites in the midwest...)
