Since someone else started a new colonoscopy thread I felt brave enough to ask today.

OK, I think usually a woman has a regular cycle and then starts to become irregular before stopping completely. What I want to hear about are experiences with that time of being irregular before stopping. Specifically, how long in months or years from the first "different" period to the last period you ever had? Every website I read says something way too vague. I want details!!!!

I am going on three years now and have had everything from regular to light to heavy to once a nomth to twice a month to not for two months to not for three months. Just when I thought it was spacing further apart I'm back to every month for the last 3 or 4.

What gives, ladies????? How long until I am done????

I don't know. I went from 'regular' to 'heavy' to 'regular and 38-40 days' back to 'light and every 20-22 days'. It can just stop any time now! LOL

:rotfl: I know - that is what is so maddening! it would be so much more helpful if there were schedules I could look at and know for sure!!!

I was never good at keeping track. I do know that it was all over the place, timing wise and light/heavy, for a long time, and I too was surprised.

I told DH that "this" (mood swings, hot flashes, etc) could last for YEARS, and he said "Oh no it can't!" LOL

Then I started HRT...it's a wonderful thing. I walk around :teeth:. A lot. And DH is a much happier man too. :) (Altho, after quite a while of NO periods, I got one after being on HRT for a month. Bummer.)

Yes, I think I am proably headed there too. I was just wondering for those who had done it all the way through what the time from first to last was. If I knew it was a maximum of four years, for example, I could deal. But knowing I might still be doing this for TEN years is too much.

Although I am divorced so no DH to impact - but it's enough for me and the girls - and even the dog is avoiding me today!!!

I had awful mood swings for years
My cycles were so messed up
I finally went to the DR and had things taken care of surgically
It was the best thing that I ever did
I'm on HRT and loving life
