One of the contestants on Top Chef wears them all the time (Dale) and I renamed him Mr. Shorty-pants. My mom calls all capris Hobbit Pants. They look silly. But I also thing capris look silly on most women b/c they only look "right" on tall slim girls but are worn more often by shorter, heavier women and it makes them look more stumpy.

I believe the correct term for these -manpri's- is: "Shants" - shorts/pants.

Thats what my son calls his really long shorts:

Saw a guy in town with a white pair of capris and floral tropical shirt plus mesh shoes (like from the 80's)...OMG hard not to laugh when I saw it---not a pretty sight

PS- I tried very hard to convince my dh with sore heals to wear crocs and it wasn't happening in this lifetime.

DH won't even try on a pair of Crocs to see how comfy they are. He thinks they're just wrong on guys. We saw lots of men wearing them in Hawaii in all colors (black, khaki, red, orange). But I had to agree with him when I saw one guy wearing the hot pink ones. That was a little over the top!

I had a hard enough time getting DH to wear Crocs. But i found a pair of Notre Dame one's from Dick's Sporting Goods which were acceptable.

There's a huge difference between the long shorts (or shants ) and the man-capris. The man-capris tend to be khaki's that are worn with a certain preppy flair.

I'm not a huge fan of the man-capri, but I've sort of assumed they're for a certain type of man.

Seriously, I wish you all would show me a pic of these that you are talking about. I do not think I have seen them.

My DH wears orange crocs. He bought his before I had a pair! He is no slave to fashion by any stretch but he never ceases to amaze me what he will actually wear!

Guy wore capris to work in one of the buildings. A whole division where I work put the stop on capris for both sexes because of this.......

i call them "those oversized shorts that don't fit you"

he calls them "they fit fine"

(did i mention the waistband is half down his Hanes? - yep, that's my boy - makes me proud and glad i spent $$$$$$$ on his education...)

i swear, he looks like he needs suspenders to keep them up - the kind my grandfather used to wear....

I have seen several people wearing them here at the World this summer.

If you think about it, what is the difference between the teens wearing shorts that they can't keep up around their waist? With the way they drag down around their butt, they already look like they are wearing capris. (some day they will all look at pics of themselves and wonder what the heck they were thinking)

This is funny timing. I just saw a guy walking through the mall with white capris, a black tank top and black crocs. I told my friend that that look for a guy just doesn't do it for me.
