after going to the bathroom and relieving yourself?

I worked in an office that had bathrooms right next to my report-to's. Everytime, the woman's bathroom had a short line. However, the men's didn't. What I noticed was that the toilet was still flushing when the men were out of the bathroom (a one toilet personal size bathroom). So, you know what that means...................................

LOL!! My DH tells me the only time he washes up after using the bathroom is on company time!!!! And he does it really slowly!!

I know this is a "touchy" matter, so I will keep it clean!

Scenerio:

If a man and a woman need to relieve themselves of fluids:

Most women (at least the ones that I see in the Ladies room) wash their hands, yet technically, their hands never touch their bodies (only the tissue does), which should protect against bacteria, germs, whatever.

Men, from what I perceive, do have to make direct contact with themselves to aid in the elimination of fluids. But do not wash their hands. (We did this survey for 3 months and nearly every man did not wash their hands).

Also, we had a girl not wash (toilet still flushing as she left the bathroom) and a guy say "that's disgusting." However, he never said that about the men constantly going in and out while the toilets are flushing????

So, we now know why the line is never long for the mens' room!

It's so disgusting when men don't wash their hands after going to the bathroom. I'm a waitress and it's just gross when a man is only in the bathroom for 15 seconds. You KNOW he didn't have time to wash when he finished. Then they sit down and EAT! Hard to believe but it happens so often.
And at the end of the day the men's bathroom is 10 times worse to clean than the women's bathroom. Are the men REALLY that disgusting at HOME too??!! Yikes!!

Ewwww, Ewwww and Ewwww. EVERYONE should wash their hands after going potty.

Pop Daddy is the resident bathroom expert. He will know the answere to this.:teeth:

Being someone of this gender (who washes his hands everytime), I would find it difficult to go to the bathroom without that 'direct contact', or at least pretty much indirect contact. I would venture to guess that most men do in fact have , uh, 'direct contact'.

Women on the other hand....(haha, pun intended)

I'll be interested to see if any men who *don't* wash respond to this thread....

(I can't even think about leaving the bathroom without washing my hands)

sorry, i'll vote against that, as i happened to have done 4 months
janatorial duty, even tho most men stand up to do this particular manuver that this thread is speaking of, and yes they miss the mark alot, the mere fact the womens room had just as many missed marks was what was gross, cuz ya'll were supposed to be sitting down....

ok now to a joke that covers the male attitude of this thread.

a marine and a sailor go into the rest room, both stand in silence and finish there bizness, the sailor zipps up and goes to wash his hands, the marine zipps up and casually starts to walk out the door.

NAVY popps off at the MARINE, " Ya know, they teach us to wash are hands after using the restroom...", the marine looks at him and states." they teach us not p!$$ on ourselves."

Yes i was told this by an former marine...

point is most men are to lazy to wash there hands, or just to uncomfortable around other men with there pants down. besides ever seen a guy wash after scratching himself ? ? ?

I remember seeing a study where they had someone hidden in a locked stall observing bathroom hand washing. If I remeber correctly, both sexes were much more apt to wash their hands
if someone else was in the bathroom. When they thought they were alone, most left without washing.

What's bad is that when you go to wash, you have to touch the faucet to turn on the water (germs now on faucet). After washing, you touch the dirty faucet to turn it off. I know, I know, you're supposed to use a paper towel to touch the faucet, door knob, etc.

While going to college, I worked part time for the maintenance department for a local mall. In most cases, the ladies room was always dirtier than the men's room.

I think it's gross if you don't!!

A group of folks are eating at a restaurant and getting great service. Everything they need is taken care of by the waitstaff in no time. They are commenting to themselves what great service this place has. While having the soup course, one of the ladies drops her spoon. Almost immediately the waiter is there putting a new spoon at her place setting. She comments to the waiter that is very efficient of him to have a spoon on him, ready for this type of situation. He says he always keeps an extra spoon in his pocket for this very situation. Their meal goes wonderfully, but they all have one thing they are curious about. All the waiters have a piece of string hanging out from their trouser zippers. Finally one of the women just HAS to ask. She says, "You have provided us with such wonderful service, you've been on top of everything, and we never had to wait for any of our requests. We are all curious about one thing though, what's with the string hanging from your fly?" The waiter says: "We try to be as efficient as we can in order to serve our customers well. We found if we tie a string to our, ummm, member , we can save time in the bathroom by not having to dig around for it, then since we don't actually touch it, we save time by not having to wash our hands". The woman is astounded to what lengths these waiters go to to increase efficiency. She says, "Well, that sounds great, but I just have one more question.....I know you use the string to pull it out, but, how do you get it back in?" The waiter replies, "I don't know about everyone else, but I usually use the spoon".

My mother taught us to do our business without sitting down in a public restroom. Can we say "thighs of steel"?? ;)

At my last job, this topic was often discussed as a large percentage of women did NOT wash their hands when leaving the restroom whether someone else was in the room or not. I seem to remember someone saying that it would take something like 30 layers of paper to prevent the transfer of germs. (Makes you wonder about the purpose of those little seat covers...)

Even though they're not "touching their bodies" you can only imagine how many germs they are getting on their hands just by touching anything in the bathroom...:(

Not only do I wash my hands, I use a paper towel to open the door on the way out. I don't know if I should be proud of that, but I'll admit to being very germ conscious!

My worst nightmare; a restroom with hand dryers (no paper towels) and a door that opens in (use have to touch the handle to open it)!

There's several people here at work who do that and that's fine. But the ones that "accidentally" drop the paper towel on the floor as they're exiting the restroom... that's just plain LAZY!

Would you wash your hands after touching your elbow? If not, why should men do it after touching their johnson? Really, urine is pretty much sanitary as everything has been removed by the kidneys. Feces needs to be washed off of course. So the basic rule I follow, if I pee on myself, or get feces on my hands I always wash. If not, why should I, the sink handles and paper towel dispenser carry more germs than my skin.

While at an exclusive Italian restaurant in Chicago, my husband got up to use the restroom. While standing there washing his hands, the chef came out of the stall and just walked out without washing his hands. DH came back to the table and told me about this and I about died! I can't say I want to eat there again anytime soon!

erikdared just posted what i was going to: pee is sterile, unless you have a uti or something.

however, with that said, i do always wash my hands. :)

I'd have had to talk to the manager & then left w/o eating. That's just disgusting! In PA it's the law that food service workers MUST wash before returning to the job & there are signs in every restroom about it.

YUCK!

As for not washing when touching your elbow...last I heard, one doesn't expel fluids from the elbow.

According to DSs doctor when he was 3, urine is sterile - but only for about 20 minutes.
