Men: Do you wash your hands.....

Jeafl, it sounds like you lived an episode of Seinfeld! Have you ever seen the episode where "Poppy" doesn't wash his hands?

According to DSs doctor when he was 3, urine is sterile - but only for about 20 minutes.

i've never peed longer than twenty minutes. :p ;) :teeth: ;)

seriously though, it doesn't take waste products for something to need a cleaning. i'm sure our skin is covered with germs just from walking around.

dh does commercial refrigeration. He is in and out of many kitchens and employee rest rooms. You can't believe the number of places we no longer go to now. There is a mid-sized chain that every time he went there there was no soap in the employee bathroom and no towels. He saw cooks go in and out over and over. Ewww.

(I can't even think about leaving the bathroom without washing my hands)

You got it. I haven't washed my hands in months. Then again, I haven't had time for the bathroom lately. It's hell on the bladder.

In all seriousness, and with slight disgruntlement towards the suggestion that "all men don't wash their hands," I am fairly sure I'm a man (note the pregnant wife). I can speak with some confidence that while it IS possible to go without touching yourself, it's a tricky maneuver that belongs on Ripley's Believe it or Not, rather than in the men's room. And for your information, most men DO wash their hands.

However, we do tend to scratch ourselves a lot. Just being honest.

And hey, as long as we're talking waterworks, do women ever flush the toilet first, then see if they can finish before the flush is complete? Just curious.

Man, am I losing it.....

Pat

PS: A joke. A Harvard and a Yale fan are in the mens room at a football game. After they finish their business, the Harvard guy heads to the door, the Yale guy to the sink. The Yale man, with indignity, says "At YALE, they teach us to wash our hands after urinating." The Harvard guy says "good show! At Harvard, they teach us not to pee on our hands."

It takes all kinds....

No we don't, Pat. We hate to get out butts wet by the occasional splash/mist!! But it would be an interesting diversion if I were standing!!

I wash my hands a LOT. Once the bathroom at work was running out of soap just as I left for vacation. When I came BACK the soap level was the SAME!! Now there's only 2 or 3 other people in my office, but I KNOW they aren't washing!!!!

the chef came out of the stall and just walked out without washing his hands

I do know that some chefs will do this and wash up after returning to the kitchen. Would you have felt better if he washed, then touched the doorknobs on his way back to the kitchen. Of course, I would wash in both locations, but then, I not only open the door with the paper towel, I carry it with me to open the next door also. If I happen to have tossed the towel out, I use my wallet to hook the handle and open the door.

I ALWAYS wash my hands after. Guess that comes from being raised by 2 women (mom and grandmom). :)

Crissup, I really would rather he wash up twice! If he did it in front of my husband, at least I'd be positive that he did it at least once! ;)

It seems to me that if the chef saw a customer in the bathroom, he should at least make the effort. And yes, there were signs (at least in the ladies room) about employees having to wash their hands before they return to work.

Maybe the new unisex abhtrooms willl allow both sexes to wash properly!

I work with catsrule and she always comments on my 45 second bathroom trips...but despite me being in there for a short amount of time I DO wash my hands....

Well, tip for you single guys;)

Not washing your hands after you go to the bathroom has always been a definate deal breaker with me. When a guy was at my apt., I was always listening for the water to go on to wash. And it happened less than half the time (maybe this says something about the guys I used to date:eek: :teeth: )

Anyway, when DH and I got together, it was one of the many things I loved about him. And he still washes his hand every time.

I will say though, that

1) I always go standing up in public places and flush with my foot and use tissue to lock and unlock the door.

2) In really nasty bathrooms or ones with no soap, I do not wash my hands, but I make sure I don't touch ANYTHING!

And question for you non wipers....Do you wipe after a number 2???

Well, THIS thread is swerving into the TMI category!!!!:teeth: :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

I wash all the time & will call friends out if I see them not washing their hands.

I even use a paper towel on the door handle. If it's a blower only bathroom, I'll wait for someone else to get the door & catch it with my foot, or I'll use bottom of my shirt.
