Does this need to be purchased prior to trip? Is it more expensive during or after? If not, can you just buy individual pictures that the photographers in the parks may take?

It does not have to be purchased before but there is a discount if bought prior. $169 vs $199. I believe you can buy individual pictures as well but depending on how many pictures you have the cost will add up quickly.

if there are multiple people on your trip you can link all the bands and have 1 MM account to download and share the pictures.

To piggyback on Arielismyfave: we had a large group of people (different reservations) and we all linked each other's accounts on MDE. My mother purchased the MM and she was able to get all of our pictures. We purchased the memory maker on day 2 and were still able to get all of our photos from the trip.
