memory maker what do you get for the $ is it worth it?

You get:
-All photos taken around the parks by various photographers, with character meet & greets, park icons, etc
-Photos from attractions
-Photos from SELECT dining locations

I personally think it is well worth the money if you pre-order it. But YOU have to make sure you make it worthwhile, there are tons of photographers spaced throughout the parks, if you make sure you stop for them to take your picture most times you see them, then you'll get a ton of pics. Ask if they can do magic shots, ask if they have any fun ideas for poses.

Also check back at various locations during the day, photographers rotate, due to schedules, sun, time of day, locations might not have a photographer in the morning but once the sun moves, they'll have one!

It is only worth it when we travel with my DSinL and their family, then we split it. I don't feel this is cheating the system as we are there as a family and are staying in a 2 bedroom villa together. If my immediate family were going we would only do it if it was a special occasion trip or maybe at Christmas time with all the decoration. It is nice to have them take pics and all but I still take my camera because there is never a photo pass person around when you need one. Also if you are already dropping thousands on your trip whats another $150, but most of the time, we can't justify buying it. Also, sometimes not all my immediate family go, so I hate to purchase a lot of pics without all of us in it. Can you justify it? That's the question. And just a side note, there seems to not be nearly as many photographers as there use to be. Just my opinion.

For ride photos, I think in the past you had to tell them you wanted the photo - but now it's automated? I'm just not sure I want to risk 'accepting' that the picture has been captured when maybe it hasn't.. Is the only way to make sure to scan your band too? In the 'automated' method, how does it know which part of the carriage you were in? I'd hate to get a shot of a row of strangers and half a row of me and my family...
If I am linked to another (offsite) family in MDE but they don't have bands (just a one day Epcot pass!), how can they get pictures when I'm not there? Scan their pass?

With the removal of the PhotoPass print packages at the character meals, is it still worth it?

You still get your picture taken at the meals, and it still gets added to your account; you just don't get the prints anymore. Since you would still have to pay to get the picture if you didn't have MM, I would say it's still worth it. Plus you're also getting ride photos, meet and greet photos, and photos from various spots around the parks.

Your band is already getting scanned, it's just that it's now getting scanned at the point the picture is getting taken, instead of where you purchase the picture. And it doesn't take a picture of just part of the ride vehicle; the picture is of the entire ride vehicle, so depending on the size of the ride vehicle, you will most likely get strangers in your picture.

The offsite family would just need to get a PhotoPass card from a photographer, which would then be scanned whenever they get a picture taken.

Sorry, dumb question...

If I don't get MM, I can still have our photos taken with PhotoPass photographers, right? They'll get added to my account, right? But, then I will need to buy them, print by print, at a cost of around $15 per picture? I don't get a digital copy do I, unless I pay ahead for the Memory Maker?

I thought it was definitely worth it. We got over 300 photos and we really didn't remember to stop and use it the first two or three days. Make sure you stop whenever you see a photographer! I think the difference between whether MM is worth it or not lies in how many characters you are going to meet. A large number of our photos are from character meets. However, they had photographers floating in the lazy river and at the end of a couple slides at the water parks as well! I would never carry my camera around at a water park, so it was very nice to get those shots.

Piggy backing on to ask to quick questions. Sounds like the way everyone is describing it this would be great for my family of 7.

A)If everyone is linked to my MDE are they linked for MM? Or is there another step?

B) 1-I though I read in another board that only some ride pics are included.
2-What is the procedure to get the ride pics on the MM account?

I feel like everyone in my group will need clear instructions.

It's true that only some ride pics are included because only some rides have cameras. That's test track, tot, rnr, splash, space, buzz, dinosaur, and EE. There are no cameras on big thunder so you can't get that photo. Same as small world and the majority of the rides.
Well if you have magic bands and memory maker the procedure is step 1: ride the ride. That's it.

To piggyback on a comment i've seen a couple of times:

I've seen several times now that MM covers photos taken at select dining locations. Are there any dining locations where pictures are taken by a PP photographer that are NOT covered by MM?

Does anyone know do they have photographers out during MNSSHP and MVMCP? We are attending both of these events this year and I am thinking it might be worth it for me to purchase so I can get some good shots of us at the party without having to worry about taking the pictures.

1. Yes

2. Yes

3. Yes

4. I'm pretty sure you can choose to buy a download instead of the print, but I think it has to be one or the other.

Select just means that not all dining locations offer photos; all dining locations that have PP photographers can be added to MM.

Yes, there are photographers at the parties.

So all rídes that offers rides photo do not need to be scanned anymore or only some of it? I remember reading somewhere it's only some of it but I dun recall which few' maybe it have been updated now?

On the rides that offer pictures, your Magic Band gets scanned when you go past the camera, so there's no longer any need to go to the counter.

But that's only if you have magic bands and memory maker.

If you do not have memory maker, you have to buy the photos there. It can't be done after the fact.

Essentially memory maker includes every photo taken in the PhotoPass system. If it's a PhotoPass photo, it's included.

They also have to be authorized to view/purchase photos.

B) 1-I though I read in another board that only some ride pics are included.

For the rides that have photos, they are all included. The photos are automatically loaded to the account when you ride.

I feel like everyone in my group will need clear instructions.

I don't believe so. Keep in mind that these pictures being talked about are the ones that are taken BEFORE the meal, such as the one at CRT with Cinderella before you go up to eat. PP photographers do NOT walk around during the meal with the other characters you will meet.

The pics at CRT where included in the meal price same as the princess one at Epcot when I went. We hit up every photo pass photographer, that we went by it was just the wife and I. We also asked every photographer if they did the magic shots if not they told us which ones did. We ordered the book also and when it arrived some pages where not in order when I called them they sent me a new one and asked me to destroy the messed up one.

If you're stopping to get your photo taken by a PP photographer, you can just ask them to use your camera. Then you won't have to pay the $15/picture. We've done it plenty of times. I mean, we have the camera set up and ready for the PP photographer to take the photo (DH sometimes messes with settings to accomodate for lighting, etc, but I generally have it on auto) and we're not expecting more than 2 or 3 shots to make sure everyone's eyes are open, but it gets the job done.

Does this mean that I will not have the option to buy single photos of our family on the rides after I get home? Thinking I may just want one or two of these and that it would be more cost effective for me to buy them as singles than to buy MM.

MM is worth the money. as others said 200-300 pics for a week long vacation.

and when you get home you can create your own movie and have YouTube clip that family can watch.

To the previous posts I would add quite by accident I discovered the photobooth pictures at Space Mountain could be added to your account as well. I don't know about the other ones and I don't know if it carried over from the old picture package to memory maker. My 60 something year old mother spent almost a day riding EE single rider. It was fun getting a gazillion pictures of her on that ride.
