Memory Maker vs photographers using your camera

My understanding is that Disney photographers are willing to use your camera to take pictures. Is this correct? If that is the case I see the main advantages of Memory Maker being not taking around a camera and ride photos, neither of which are that important to me (I want my camera regardless and my daughter can only go on one of the rides with MM - Buzz).

Not hating on the product, just want to be sure my understanding is correct.

We did hand our DSLR camera to the photographers a few times last fall (in AK and MK) and they didn't turn us down, but the pictures they took were hurried and weren't very good. I can't compare them to the Memory Maker pictures they usually take since I've never used that product but I did wonder a little bit about whether they just didn't put any effort into it because it was our personal camera. It wasn't crowded at all when we went so it's not like they needed to hurry for that reason.

You didn't include my favorite parts of their Photopass system, the borders and clip art you can add to the photos and the magic shots. You may be more interested in the Photopass Archive Disk, which you can prebuy for $119, since you aren't interested in ride photos. Saves $30 and you get a disk, which is nice for long term storage. We have always prebought something and I've never regretted it. I've always wanted at least 10 of the photos (usually more like 100) and it only takes 10 to pay for itself.

Another advantage of the photopass pics is that they are set up to take night shots. Using a tripod makes a big difference and the photographers can make adjustments on their cameras for just the right amount of light.

Yes you are correct, those are the advantages. That and the photographer will only take 1 picture with your camera, while taking multiple pictures with MM.

I've had the photographers takes dozen upon dozens of photos with my camera and have never had them say no. Also, I've done both MM and gone with just my own camera, and for me bringing my own camera and having the photographer take a shot with it was good enough. Even if you do get MM I would still take my camera, sometimes pics are lost by Disney.
