Both me and my husband have gone to Disney quite a bit, but the one thing we have never used is the Memory maker. Even with reading things online, I'm still confused. How does the ride pictures work? Do you have to goto the photo booth every ride to have that ride added to the memory maker or does it automatically add it? Asking caise I knowy DH wont have the patience for that lol. Also, with our trip, we are only staying on property for a few days then we are staying with family off property. Will it still work for our full trip or will it just work thoes few days we are checked into the hotel? I'm a photo nut so I know I'll be taking a lot of pictures but reading some of the special ones they take seems cool. Oh, also, is there a way to know where the Memory maker photographers are thruout the park? Thanks all!!

The photos should link automatically from the rides with the magic bands. However, if you don't want to take the chance that they won't, they now have magic band touch points under the photos and you just touch Mickey to Mickey to add the pic- no stopping at the end of the ride and waiting for an attendant.

The magic band is just a tool to read information from your account, so it will still work for your entire trip to collect photos.

Do you have to pay extra for hard copies of pictures. I remember paying a fortune with photo pass after I came home. We haven't used memory maker yet.

Memory Maker is digital downloads of all your photos. So if you wanted hard copies, yes, you would have to pay extra for those. You don't have to get them from Disney, though. You get a release to print them out wherever you like. I made a few scrapbooks from shutterfly, made a few mugs and also ordered prints. You could also use Walmart or another cheaper place.

You don't have to wait for an attendant, but you will still need to find your picture so that you link the right one. Either way, it's still not a bad wait. I find that people, regardless whether they have a MB or not (or trying to "Link" the picture to their MM with a "Card"), are still stopping just to see the picture. So it's really a simple matter to tap the MB (or Card) to the Mickey Head and add it (or to ensure it's added) to your MM.

You also have an opportunity to add others as well. I know we ended up with a few extra pictures of people we didn't even know from rides. While it's not annoying, it can be helpful if you have folks in your group who are NOT linked to your MM and you want to include some of their pictures too.

Just wanted to add:

Last time we were there, there were no magic band scanners by where you view your picture. However, every single ride picture still showed up in our Memory Maker account. In other words, the long-range MB scanners worked really well for us and you most likely do not need to scan your magic band on a Mickey head. However, if you really want to make extra sure, you can scan your MB for comfort.
