Memory maker refund?

I'm really torn on purchasing MM for our upcoming trip. We did the photopass in the past but the pricetag now is giving me pause about doing it again. We are not big on characters and I typically don't care about ride photos and I know those are big selling points and I am OK with asking a photographer to use our camera. I do however love the idea of the magic shots and a few other perks. We will be there 2 weeks so I imagine we can still get lots of photos.

If I pre-purchase MM and decide I only want to buy a few shots individually instead, can I get a refund?

I'm curious too. I purchased for our trip before the recent $20 price reduction!

We pre-paid one trip and got very few pictures, so we asked for (and received) a refund when we got home. That was about 7 years ago, so I'm not sure if things have changed since then.

I doubt it. The purchase states it is non-refundable. When my dad and I accidentally both bought it for a shared trip, I was pleasantly surprised that they did refund one, but that was before our trip even occurred. Although possible, I wouldn't *count* on being able to say "oops, I don't like enough of these, can I get my money back".

One trip long ago, I bought old Photopass and ended up disappointed in paying for it. Didn't do lots of characters, it was before ride photos were included, and the pictures we did get weren't awesome. Since you're not interested in character or ride photos, I think you could end up in the same boat. You could buy 10 pictures individually before MM would become a savings. If you have photogs use your camera for you and then just ask for magic shots, you might prefer to just buy a few of those separately. (I do love MM for my family, with a big group, lots of characters and rides, stopping often for park photos - I think it can be a great purchase, just not in every case)

@brooke789 when they first announced the price drop, a lot of people on here reported getting a refund or at least a credit for the difference, so you could use it to buy a calendar or other photo product - worth a call to see if they'll adjust your price.

I must have missed those posts! I need to cancel a hair appointment and I can ask about the MM then! Thanks!

No, but you can post purchase 1 day, individual photos or higher priced memory maker.

It sounds like individual photos might be cheapest for you. Its about 10ish photos before mm becomes a money saver. Or pick 1 day and go photopass crazy and purchase the 1 day that appears post trip.

No, once paid for MM stands, unless, you have some reason that you're not going to WDW at all. But you can purchase MM right up until your visit.

What's the break-even on MM these days? Somewhere around 10-12 photos? Will you want more than that? If not, just buy the photos you want.

What about finding a MM group? I did one in Dec we had about 10 families split the cost and thats how i am doing my big family trip. We will all pitch in the cost of what MM cost and everyone can get all the photos they want.

I know a couple people going about the same time and they either are not interested or are already in a large group. How might I find others going who might want to share?

I found mine through a Dec (when we were all going at that time) Facebook group.

On my trip with DD21 in March, the MM was the best money I spent. We took way more photopass pics than ever before, and we had fun doing it. If a photographer wasn't busy we would have them do magic shots (up to 6 with on photographer). What was great was that within 15 minutes the pics were posted on our account and my DD immediately would post on social media.

We LOVE memory maker...sure we do a ton of M&Gs, but we also do those pose-able shots at Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Magic Kingdom...basically if we saw a photographer we jumped at the chance to get our pics taken...its really nice being able to be IN the pictures, lol...usually I am the 1 taking the pictures, lol. Our last trip we had over 300 pictures and that included their magic shots.

My wife and I love MM also............we especially like all the ride photo's and the video's. Yeah I know you only watch them a couple of times...........but saving all that out to my pc allows us to go back and re-live (so to speak) the fun :) We've also found that we look for PhotoPass photographers much more when we have MM...........those shots are so much fun.

As others have said........unless you have a compelling reason for wanting a refund the fee is non-refundable.

I am not sure, but I had 260 pictures from our recent four day trip. I thought it was one of the best values of our trip. It actually made us stop and get family pics ( my kids are in college) and see a few characters. At two weeks, no worries! You will have so many great shots to choose from.

It's worth it. The videos are great. The pictures are high quality. We used ours last year on the Christmas cards.

We were hesitant also. But finding a group made it reasonable. We had about 40-50 pictures. So it was well worth it. I have been looking for a group on FB for when we go but no luck so far.

If all you're really interested in is magic shots, I would either buy them individually or quite honestly, if you have rudimentary Photoshop skills you can do something similar. Essentially they are just putting Disney characters in your pictures. Many of them have you pose to make them look like you're interacting with them but some (Epcot Tink and DHS Sully) just paste them into your pics. You could easily leave a space in a group pic and put in your favorite character to have a similar effect. (Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, that would be a great way to hide extraneous people in your pics. I may actually do that.) Disney allows the use of their characters for personal, non commercial purposes so you can get images of characters online and print them without a problem (hence you can do custom autograph books).

yes, I bought memory maker for our one day in mk for 14 of us. then I found out there is a way to purchase a one day for less money, now I need to call and see if they will adjust it for me

I called in last night about the refund. Was told that when the price dropped anyone with a future trip had a $20 credit added to their photo account. I can't see it in my account, so not sure how it works but they say it is there.
