Memory Maker - Off Site Guests

Hi there! I'm a photopass photographer answering questions in another thread in the forums. I saw this so I thought I would jump in: If you are staying off-site you will get a white card with either Mr. or Mrs. Incredible on it (either in the mail or at Will Call). You will use this for all your photos.

I am staying on-site and I bought Memory Maker online. Is it automatically linked to my MagicBand? I was emailed a receipt with a PDF that says I have to bring it to Will Call.

Usually you have to link it yourself. Try claiming the confirmation number. If you see memory maker linked in your reservations then you're set.

From the conversation above about scanning photos to park ticket cards...

Don't

Yes, it will work. And yes, if you go to a view station we can tap the ticket to our reader and add the photos to a regular card. But if you go home and try to view your photos from the ticket, you will be out of luck. Once a park ticket is scanned, it essentially goes into a black hole of nothingness. Those baracoda scanners will literally scan anything. I heard of a photographer who did an experiment and was able to scan a photo to a bar code on a bag of Doritos. So technically, yes there is a way to pull those photos off of your ticket but only in our view stations. If you forget to stop by at the end of your vacation then you are screwed and your photos will be lost forever. Also, we are trained to never scan them so that's way people wouldn't do it.

We just returned from our trip (we stayed off site and had MM). So as others have already said, MM card is only necessary for ride photos. Any of your party can just use a regular photopass card for any of the other pics. You can have them linked at the park as the CM who posted said, OR you can just do it yourself online. We went to link ours from enchanted tales with belle (and the hubs also had one from taking my son to see Mickey while I had my daughter visiting Tink) and the line was super long. A CM there said ".....or you can do it yourself online." After waiting in lines all day, I can do this myself? Yeah, sold. It was easy. Just went in to my memory maker account and clicked "claim photos," and there was a place to enter the card numbers. :-) Done and done. :-b

Also, this won't help if you're splitting up, but if you're riding the same ride or child swapping, the other person can get their photo number and you can have it added when you go through with the memory maker card. DH and I did this when we child swapped on space mountain. I don't know how long they keep the photos so I don't know if this is something you could do even if you split up or not (like, let them get their photo number and then go claim it later when you're in the area).

Yes, that should work. The photos can be pulled up if it's within 12 hours or so (maybe 24). Just don't wait too long. I've heard people who come to Animal Kingdom and ask if they can add their Tower of Terror photos from the day before. Just remember one golden rule - don't go to the photopass view stations. We can't do it. The attraction and photopass computers operate on two different systems. I had too many people come to the front of a park asking to see their ride photos and I hate to say no, but it's the only option I have. With pp+ we used to be able to call the ride or fill out a form and it would be added, but since MM doesn't have a photopass number on the back it doesn't work like that anymore. While Disney is magical, there are still things that are impossible so please take personal responsibility for everything.

Don't know if you can answer this question. We are staying off site in Sept. I'd like to purchase memory maker so my whole family (4 adults, 2 kids) can use it. Is it worth also purchasing magic bands? I read that some rides have sensors that detect magic bands and automatically link the photo to your account. Didn't know if this is true. Hoping to keep it as simple as possible for my parents and my kids. Thanks for any input.

I would say it might be worth it to buy the bands. Let's assume that at some point in your trip your group splits up to go on separate rides. Let's say the adults go on Space Mountain and the kids go on Buzz Lightyear. Both of those rides take pictures. If only one party has the white MM card, only one party will get a photo. If you have the bands, you can get your photos automatically scanned to your bands and would not have to worry about juggling a card or returning later to get the photo. Also, if you are all linked together, it wouldn't matter who gets their band scanned since the photos will all show up on one account. That saves you time going to a view station and getting cards combined. With the magic bands you can also link your park ticket so you wouldn't have to scramble through six bags to find six cards when you are entering a park or going through a fastpass line. They are $13 each so I can see why people don't want to get them. I promise, I'm not trying to be a salesperson but you might be a good candidate for them.

We stayed offsite in June and bought the MB. We had memory maker too- it worked beautifully and the bands were nice as all the pics were automatically there. You will gets duplicates of pics though (everyone in MDE will have a ride photo for example). The bands were very convenient for gate entry and FP+ too as it saved us from digging out all our tickets! handing the right ticket to right child! then collecting back up again (was totally paranoid a kid would lose a ticket in this process). Had to convince DH it was worth the price but by end of trip he was wishing we had stayed on site and had charging privileges lol!!
All our ride photos were on our account with the bands whether we were together or not.
A con is you do have to make an effort to get pics from the PP photographer to really maximize MM but the upside is these don't take long and it is sooooo nice to have lots and lots of pics to see:)

Thanks for all the advice. We will be getting magic bands then, only makes sense. For the rides with sensors on them, do the pics automatically get linked, or do you still need to go to the counter to link the ride pics (such as splash mountain) to your magic bands? I'm hoping it is automatic. Thanks again for all your help.

they link automatically. Don't even have to stop at the photo counter!!!! Don't know how disney did it but it's such a great idea and time saver!!

I'm so glad they started doing that. Before, people used to walk to the front of the park at the view stations and ask to see their ride photos or would come in with the number and ask to get them added. Since the photopass system and the ride photos system are different, it is impossible so you can imagine how upset people were (even though it was their own fault that they didn't wait the extra five minutes at the end of the ride to get it added....).

From what I have been told, the ride vehicles have a sensor in them which can detect the MBs. Then, when the photo is taken of the ride vehicle the photos get automatically updated. I have heard of occasional problems so you may want to double check that the photos are there before you leave the park. Write down the photo number and you can come back to the attraction and get it added that day.

In case it's not listed, the current attractions that take photos are:
MK - Buzz Lightyear, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain
Epcot - Test Track
Studios - Tower of Terror, Rockin Roller Coaster
Animal Kingdom - Everest, Dinosaur

I did have a couple photos on mine that I wasn't even in. Especially at restaurants. Not sure why maybe I was standing close enough and it linked to my mb too. No worried tho. Just a quick delete and it's gone

Do any of you know if there is a maximum number of friends that can be linked to a memory maker account, or a maximum number of photos that can be taken? Sorry for hijacking this thread a little, but I thought I would ask here before creating a new thread.

I don't know if there is a maximum amount of people that can be linked, though that may be more of a MDE question than a MM question as the people are linked through MDE and it is not limited to MM.

I asked about the number of photos and was told that there isn't a limit. The system does get slower the more photos you have in your account. I probably had between 1600 and 1800 original photos and downloaded more than 2300 after edits this summer and didn't have any problems other than Disney's site (pictures taking forever to load and scroll through until I could find where I left off editing).

Well, I'll say again...I had no problem scanning photos onto my ticket (only one photog would not do it) I never view photos at a view station in the park. EVERY single one of my photos made it into my account and were downloaded. It may not work for me next time, but it worked in Jan. I don't understand why Disney only gives one MM card for a family. I don't know many families at all who go to the parks and NEVER split up. Photopass cards are given out like candy, but MM cards...I just don't understand that philosophy. If you haven't paid for MM, you can't download your photos, so what's the diff?

The memory maker card IS a memory maker. So if you gave two... You would have two memory makers. That's why. So if they gave you two cards, you'd have 2 200 dollar packages but only paid for one. Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

It's worth noting that since that post photographers can scan to park tickets. Just make sure they're linked.

Beforehand, that functionality was not tested. That's why it was suggested you not do it.
