Memory Maker- need new ideas

We love the Memory Maker, but it seems like the three of us stand in pretty much the same pose for every single picture. Share your favorite and most creative shots and help inspire us for our next trip.

I was thinking about this last week when I showed a friend my WDW scrapbooks and noticed I mostly had the same pose in every photo. The predominant pose was me with one hand on my hip, one leg forward... I gotta find more variety. I don't think it helps for me that I definitely have a clear "best side", so I tend to always favor my left side. Plus, I'm single, so I think that even more limits what I can do. Not to mention I am already not really liking to take photographs, but I make myself. I am not comfortable doing it, and pretty self conscious. I think I'm going to google "creative poses for photographs" and see what I come up with. I hope people will post some ideas and maybe some photos.

One of the things I thought of doing and I'm not sure if they'd let me or work with me, is doing some poses that would allow me to photoshop in some fun things when I get home. Sort of like my own magic shots. I did a couple of these last year. The one photo my friend took, in front of Star Wars and I added in Darth Vader. The rest are MM photos and I edited in other characters to give me a little more interest and variety. Here are a few of the scrapbook pages I made. I added in Darth, Emma Swan, Mike and Sully (because my friend had a photo with Mike and I didn't get one) and I added in Mickey and Minnie. You can see the hand on hip thing in two photos. Yeah, that's pretty much my go to pose. Lol. Definitely need some different stuff.

What about taking pictures alone or with only 2 people. We have my husband and I and 3 kids. Sometimes we do just the kids or just the 2 girls or just our son. Sometimes we have mom with the 2 girls or dad with our son. Sometimes just DH and I.

If you are doing the whole group, it is a bit more tricky with 3. Of course you could change up the order you stand in. You could all stand facing towards the side. You could tallest to shortest. You could stand 2 with their backs together and one in front. I would maybe try to think of some funny poses too....my parents have one from their last trip where my dad is pointing to something while pushing mom's face to the side and my sister is looking where he is pointing and laughing. Maybe think in terms of using props like park maps or hats for something creative- like we have pictures reading the newspaper on Splash.

We found an amazing photographer outside the castle. She took a pic with my girls up front with their arms around one another, and my husband and I kissing in the background. That is our favorite pic!

She also toon some other cute ones of the girl together, including one with them facing the castle and one daughter pointing to it.

There is a DIS'er here (Berlioz?) who is a major character pic collector (and has some good "friends" I believe...) and has posted many great pics where she and the character are striking the same pose. Maybe you can search on her username to see some. Could be an idea for you. And honestly, seeing your pics kind of makes me want to get one solo pic with Mickey on our next trip

Like the guy who took this. I gave him the side eye when he kept telling DD to tilt her head more...more...a little more. And then he took about 15 shots like this. Even she knew this was bizarro, because when she was done she said, "Those pictures are going to be terrible."

I travel with a good friend. She isn't into taking as many photos as I usually do. When she does want to, we usually do one of us first, then together, and then the other alone. You definitely need to do a just you and Mickey photo! Actually, that is one of my favorite photos of the trip. I'm in my Minnie dress and ears since it was MNSSHP.

That's so funny how your daughter even knew it wasn't going to be a good photo. Kudos to your daughter though, cause holy smokes, my neck wouldn't bend like that even before I had surgery. Lol!

You have to think outside the box. I had pictures taken of our 5 kids sitting and eating ice cream waiting for a parade. They had no idea. Pictures taken of them waiting in line for a meet and greet. Zoom shots of various princesses during the stage shows. We had over 400 pictures taken on our last trip. Just off the wall photos any time I saw a photographer.

We were feeling like this by our last day as well...we started telling the photographers that we were up for some fun and different poses...some photographers were good about ideas...some were not. We also did the waterparks and had some great shots taken there as well.

Our trip back in 2011 was our first time getting the photo package. We had a good time with it. Like others have said, some of the photographers had a good time with it. Others mostly took basic pictures. Here are a few of my favorites:

We decided the less-is-more approach works best for us. Simply put, there's no such thing as the ideal photo. Ahhhh!

One rare day, I was combing though our electronic pictures and realized just HOW very many Safari images we had...and how mostly they all looked the same: bongos eating leaves-check, elephants standing- check, gazelles off in the distance- check, ostrich eggs in the same place year after year- check.

So we cut WAY back.

Liberating ourselves from the burden of so many photos made our trips much more enjoyable. Living in the moment is MUCH more fun than constantly pestering each other to smile/move a little to the left, etc.

We have a few key photo spots we like.

If only I could convince everyone ELSE the world doesn't need any more flash photos of animatronic Johnny Depp.

Also, ask for Magic Shots! Then you'll get all sorts of different things. Also, if you're doing meet and greets, ask the photographer to do candids.

Did you just happen to see a photo pass photographer and ask them to take the candid shots? The ones I saw often had a bit of a line, so did you wait in line and then ask? And photopass photographers took zoom shots of various princesses during the shows for you? How do you ask for that?
