(I apologize if this is not the correct board to post this on. Since I am the one that has talked our friends into sharing MM with my family to save money, I thought I would start here first. I will try to be clear and cut to the chase. However, I want to make sure I am crystal clear on Memory Maker sharing. Since it was "my idea" I don't want unforeseen problems to pop up.)

My family of 4 (2 adults and 2 teenagers) is traveling to WDW at the same time as our friends who are also a family of 4 (2 adults, child, infant). We are staying at the same resort. I purchased the MM on MDE account. I am the only one in my family with MDE account. Only the husband of the other party has a MDE account. At the time I purchased MM, our 2 MDE accounts were not shared. We were keeping everything separate to avoid any confusion, etc. When they decided they would like to share MM, I sent the husband an invite on MDE. He accepted this morning. Here is where my questions begin.

1. Will the husband's magic band need to be scanned each time they have a photo taken or could the wife or child's band be used instead? Just want to make sure the wife doesn't need to create a MDE account as well.

2. Will my teenagers be able to go their separate ways from us and still have their photos on our account or does everything go from my band?

3. Should each person have their own MDE account and link them all or are we okay just having the two primary guests "share" access?

I'm just nervous and don't want to screw anything up. I know that I will be the only one allowed to download photos from my account. (I plan to just give them my access info.) Also, as a side note, I noticed on MDE that his FP+ reservations are just showing me that he has reservations for 1 guest. Is this just because he's technically the only one sharing the account with me or did he make a BIG boo-boo and not add his wife and kids to his FP+ reservations? His dining reservations show me that they are for 3 guests, infant. I will point this out to him but thought I'd check with you all before I cause any undue panic.

Thanks in advance.

I am also wondering about the memory maker and who's magic bands can be scanned....only mine or anyone in our room? TIA

Only the husband's band will work unless you link his families bands. You can do this by searching for friends of friends if they do not have an account but he has them in his account.

Yes, they are linked to your account and can scan their bands and their pics will show in your account.

Everyone doesn't need an account, but whomever might scan a band should be linked as friends and family to your account. They can just be secondary accounts that the primary manages. For example, I have a profile in my account for my 3 year old. He doesn't need his own MDE account, but does have a "profile" that I manage. This also extends to the family of the husband that is linked. They need to be linked to you but you can just link those secondary accounts he should have in his account that he manages.

Also, settings for each person need to be set as that you can view and print their pictures since basically all downloads and edits will need to be done from your MDE account (the account that the Memory Maker is assigned to)

Hope that helps

If you have the Memory Maker assigned to your account, anyone that that is linked to your MDE account as friends and family with the setting that you can view/print their pictures can scan their band and have the photos show in your photopass for the memory maker privilege.

Yes everything that vicarrieous just said. We did this last month (with the help from disboards as well). I was the "owner" of our memory maker account so when we got home (a few days prior to our friends) I copied all of our friends' pics onto a flashdrive and gave it to them. Well actually I waited until after their trip to get all of their pics. Before copying onto a flashdrive, I made some copies of theirs and edited some such as adding the ride's name and whatnot. This way they still had the originals to do what they pleased with them. The rides scan the bands' RFID automatically but I would suggest both to you and your friend's family to still manually scan your band under the little monitor at the ride's exit. This helps to prevent lost pictures and/or getting an unknown random family's pic.

you can also get the phto pass cards from the photographer and add them in after the trip or each night
