Memories of the DREAM come true ….. 08/09 All 30 days done!

That picture reminds me of just how many people fit into that theater. Fantasmic is always sooo crowded, but once in and seated you don't feel too cramped.

love your pics of fantasmic. wow 3 hrs at MM. I think I would have left. glad you got the fast pass tho that you could use at TSM.

I can't even imagine a 3 hour meal when you are at a park. It's one thing to CHOOSE to dine that long, it's another when you have somewhere else you want to be. The food looked delicious but that doesn't take away the bad experience. I'm so glad the server gave you the FastPass.

The picture of the crowd at Fantasmic is crazy. I can't believe how many people they can pack into that theater!

those shots of Fantasmic are FANTASTIC!!!

Thank you, Jen!

I had to take a deep breath walking into that theater and seeing all those people in there. ;) ..... you are right, once you are seated you forget about all those people around you! :goodvibes
It's amazing to see how many people fit in there AND to see the park still crowded.

Thank you, we were pretty pleased with them ourselves. :goodvibes
I was on the brink about leaving ... I just had enough of sitting and waiting and watching him stare.
But we loved to be able to do TSM and not have to wait for 100 minutes! :thumbsup2

I don't mind a three hour meal at a signature, when they wait on you hand and foot. But it just wasn't right in the middle of a park, where you have rides to ride and shows to see. ;)
It gets pretty packed in that theater, but at least we did not have to sit around for an hour using the Fantasmic Package. :thumbsup2

Your pics at Fantasmic are great! At least you had a very nice finish to your evening.

Judy saw Fantasmic for the first time in August and LOVED it !!! I have totally given up on getting pix !!The lighting just isn't right and people's heads are always in the way !!So I just enjoyed it !!!

I am glad Judy loved it! :woohoo: We have seen it quite often and if we can do it without sitting in the theater for hours than we will. ;)
Tom and I love the DL version ..... that's the one we saw first and I cannot wait to see it again in 2013! :cool1:

Sorry about the long wait at Mama Melrose...that is just not acceptable; but glad they took care of you with the fast pass.

You do realize that you can use the fastpass you got for Star Tours at any time AFTER the time it says you can come back, don't you? We got fastpasses for Big Thunder at 10:00 a.m. and our return time was 11:30 a.m. or something like that. We did NOT use it until 10:30 that night.

Love the Fantasmic pictures. We've not been since 2008 and probably won't see it until the fall of next year (it is closed in January when I go).

Ok, all caught up!

Wow, I've never heard of Boatwright before! But it looks like someplace I'd love to try. Especially the corn bread part.

I've heard so many bad things about Mama Melrose's service... It's too bad you had such a bad time with your server, but at least the other one made up for it!

It's great that you were able to get a seat that late before the show! I know Disney recommends package people to show up at least 30 mins before. But really, any seat is a good seat in that theatre.

Tom took great photos!

Karin, you're going to DL in 2013? Does that mean you won't be going to WDW? That's when I'll be at WDW...

WOW, Karin, those are FABULOUS FANTASMIC shots!!!

Thank you! Tom gets pretty good with his new camera. My point and shoot is no good for pics like these! :thumbsup2

I don't mind sitting at the Cali Grill for three hours but at MM? But they know how to turn things around - hand them a piece of paper and call them guest of honour! :rotfl2:

I know that you can use your FP after it expired but I just prefer not to when it is possible. Sometimes when you get stuck on a ride you can't help it, or if the ride breaks down, but if I can make it in time I will. ;)

We had not been to Fantasmic in a long time. It's a sweet show, but the long wait on the hard uncomfortable benches gets to me.
Don't know when we will go see it again ....... I guess maybe in Anaheim, that has always been my favourite. :thumbsup2

Just checkin' in Karin!!!

So glad you did, Rosie!

:thumbsup2 Good for you to be all caught up!

We love Boatwright's at Port Orleans Riverside, it's very overlooked.

We have always loved the food at MM, but the long visit last time was just TOO long! And the server was :sad1:

On the Fantasmic Package they let you in until 20 minutes before the show. There is reserved seating to the far right facing the stage. There are no really bad seats and we had not even really intended to go ....... but after 3 hours in the restaurant we had to! :rotfl2:

Yuki, we are doing a coast to coast vacation again in 2013. All the details are in my pre-trip report (the link is on my links page .... or on the pre-trip reports under Help!! More disney dreams to fulfill. ;))
We'll stay at WDW for 3 nights, then go on a 7 night eastern caribbean cruise with our friends Teri and Mick, back to WDW for a few days, then it is off to Las Vegas, San Francisco, Napa, Monterey, Santa Barbara and LA (= Disneyland) :rotfl2: I cannot wait to visit all those favourite places of ours again in 2013!! :woohoo:

Day 5, August 17

A lazy day is a good day - Part 1

We woke up to another beautiful morning and not knowing how to spend the day.
Before we went on vacation I had made a detailed plan, but sticking to it was not always easy – sometimes the plan just didn’t feel right. So we decided not to follow the plan and enjoy breakfast out on our veranda.

Tom had some coffee and I stuck to my tea, we had sandwiches which Tom prepared with stuff out of the fridge and there were still some leftover doughnuts which we microwaved.
The view from the veranda was beautiful and we enjoyed sitting there and do nothing. But by mid morning we started to get antsy and wanted to do something. So we came up with the idea of visiting some resorts.
And what better resort to start with than Port Orleans Riverside. It was closeby and why not visit the neighbours down the road.

So around 10.30 we got ready, walked down to the car and drove over to Riverside.

We took our time, explored the lobby and the store and then proceeded to walk back to the Riverside Mill, check out their menu and offerings and finally walked outside to explore the grounds.

So we strolled across the bridge, over to the main pool area,

explored the pool bar and finally walked past the fishing hole and over to the Bayou buildings.

We had a good look around, but then clouds started to roll in and we decided that it would be better to head back to the car. We walked along Magnolia Bend and the sun came back so we just kept on walking, had a good luck at the construction going on.

Finally we crossed over the bridge along the road to the other side of the Sassagoula River and kept on walking towards Port Orleans French Quarter.

To be continued ..........

oooh, a lazy day at WDW. I LIKE it! :goodvibes Especially after a nice breakfast on the verandah! I can't wait to see what you did with the rest of your day!

sorry mama melrose took so long! :headache: but the food looked good!

you know. I have NEVER been in One Man's Dream! I have always wanted to but with the kids its always.. go go go .. I am definitely seeing it next week! :thumbsup2

LOVE POR! That's my favorite moderate resort!!

Your pictures of POR are beautiful. We stayed there last Thanksgiving and I just fell in love with that resort. It's so peaceful!

I love all the POR pics. You took quite the walk. I loved where we stayed last time. It was super close to the main building. We were lucky....it is so spread out, I am sure we could have been pretty far away.

:woohoo:

Hi Karin! I just read that you are going to Napa. Have you ever been? I was born and raised in Napa (as well as my mother) until I moved to the East Coast in 1994. Most of my relatives still live there and I might possibly be going for a visit home next Fall or the following Spring. Do you know where you are staying?
