I am very new to this forum and am curious for any information anyone can give. (: My fiance and I just want a small get away style wedding. Nothing huge or extravagant, but we both LOVE Disney and planned on honeymooning there anyway, so why not combine the two? I was wondering if anyone has any info about the memories collection as far as pricing, service quality, ect ect.

Please and thank you!

Oh also, I am wanting to have the wedding in early December 2014, any thoughts?

Thanks again!

You should be ok with the time and date you wanted. It's worth noting that you are limited to 6 people including the b&g. If you want to plan a reception for yourself there are a lot of resturants that can accommodate. Really the best advice to give any disbride is to get the passporters guide to Disney weddings. The money and hassle you will save is well worth the cost.

The Memories collection is perfect for an elopement, and most of the people who post about theirs on this board seem to be very happy with them. The current price for a Memories Collection event at WDW is $2,495, and you can see what's included in the package here: http://disneyweddings.disney.go.com/weddings/florida/escape/included/detail

I have photos of the three locations here:

Luau Beach

Conch Key

Sunrise Terrace

If you're interested in ordering a cake to be delivered to a meal or your room, I have complete info HERE.

And HERE are all the episodes of the Disney Wedding Podcast devoted to Memories Collection events.

Congratulations! :goodvibes

Does anyone know with having a memories wedding is there a requirement to also staying on site

Yes, you are required to stay on site for at least two nights. I am currently planning a memories collection vow renewal for August and would be happy to answer any questions.

There's not much to plan, but so far Disney has been great about everything.

Thank you for all the info, how is your planning going? Mine is still a ways out but I am anxious to get started and I didn't know if there are things I should be figuring out now? Hahha where are you having your vow renewal?

My planning is going well, although there really isn't much to plan. My coordinator is Danny and I've spoken with him on the phone and he seems very nice and helpful.

We are renewing our vows at the Polynesian. I have always been excited about it, but talking with Danny and hearing him describe being on the beach with a view of the castle made me super excited.

Now I just have to hope for good weather and figure out what I want to wear!

Do you have any ideas about what you want?

I am having a memories wedding this September At Luau Beach Polynesian Resort

We are staying 2 nights at the Polynesian also - I've never stayed at a Disney Hotel so Iam crazy excited! As part of the memories collection you MUST stay minimum 2 nights at a Disney Hotel.

6 of us - Me, BF, Mum, Dad, His Dad, His Bro & our 2 year old who isn't counted as a guest. We are all coming over from UK

We plan to have a casual dinner afterwards at Downtown Disney, I will prob change out of my dress because Iam a messy eater. LOL

Then later that night we will all prob sit on the beach and watch the fireworks display.

Memories collection is perfect for a get away wedding, its also very reasonably priced, you get the choice of a limo or a room celebration - they decorate your room with roses, chocolates, signed photo of minnie n mickey, personalised towels with your names on them etc.. You get 1 hour photography, wedding planner, wedding website, flowers for the bride, I can't remember what else. All you have to organise is your minister and your marriage licence and the wedding planner will take care of everything else. They make it so easy and stress free.

I always wanted a beach wedding so Luau Beach is perfect and has views of Cinderella Castle :)

Maranda,

Congratulations on your engagement! It sounds like the memories collection might be perfect for you. We're having a Memories Vow Renewal in Dec of this year. Our ceremony will be at Wilderness Lodge with dinner at Artist Point and a fireworks cruise to follow.

We're just bringing my parents and my DS (7) & DD (10mo.) so the memories collection was perfect for us. I'm an early planner and started working on where we were going to stay, what date for our ceremony, makeup & hair etc pretty much right away.

Definitely check out the Disney Weddings Podcast and disneytravelbabble.com. She is the queen of Disney Weddings (esp. wedding cakes). Have fun planning!

Thanks for the info!! Is it required to get your own officiant? If so was that a difficult process ( we're doing a vow renewal first time was in a court house so we have no planning skills:( also we have a unity candle for the renewal do you know if that's something they would let us use since this package is advertised as simple thank you in advance for any and all help!!!!

@jac1976 : that sounds awesome. I considered the beach, but my Fiancé and his family stay at the lodge every visit and he pretty much feels it is his second home :P so we decided on the Sunrise terrace. We haven't really decided on dinner afterwards yet. At our actual ceremony I am thinking it will just be his parents. But we want to invite siblings as well to celebrate with after.

@schoolbelle : you sound just like us! Haha we are wanting December 2014. I am hoping it will be available when I call. I tried to talk them uno letting me go ahead and pencil in, but failed. :P I am definintly set on the lodge though. As a said above, my fiancé stays there every visit. He loves it! What all do you think I should consider this early? Like, what all have you done as far as planning on your side vs what disney will handle for you?

Thanks!

We started actually planning in December of 2012, so one year ahead. A few months ago I put a deposit down for a photographer (being a photographer myself I knew what/who I wanted) on the likely date of our vow renewal. They of course know that it's not officially set with Disney until June but I'm confident there won't be a line of Dis brides for the Lodge on my chosen date! Doing the same with makeup & hair and I've ordered a couple little things like Disney themed "I do" stickers for the bottom of my shoes etc.

I've started gathering bouquet examples (I'm considering an artificial from home or a fresh from somewhere outside of Disney). I also figured out how the whole shipping my dress thing would work and started getting ideas for mini-cakes etc. And I'm finally doing some dress shopping next week after losing over 25lbs! I'm now thinner that I was at our first wedding with another 10-15 to go.

Time flies so quickly, enjoy planning and clear your calendar for that 6 month when you can get everything set in stone!

I had my Memories collection wedding in April of last year at Luau Beach. We had the 6 people, but then our wedding planner let us have 4 more people standing off to the side watch our ceremony. After pictures, we walked to the Grand Floridian Cafe for lunch.

I'm happy to answer any questions you have, but don't worry about planning stuff too far in advance--Disney makes it really easy. You essentially get a PDF that contains pictures of all of your choices (floral, location, etc) and you just pick from that. I was told by my first coordinator (I had two, as one was promoted halfway through the process) that the Memories collection is mostly booked by people 3-4 months in advance of their date.

@Danikay

Yes you book your own officiant, but Disney gave us a list of officiants who regularly perform weddings at Disney - We chose Rev Kevin Knox

As well as a list of Officiants, Disney also recommended Hair and Makeup artists, places for menswear ... etc etc

As I say Disney make it so so easy and enjoyable!

Thank you Pollypineapple8 glad to hear that disney makes it so easy takes alot of the stress off even for " simple" ceremonies :)

One more ? Does any one know the cost of some of the officiants that are recommender

Rev Kevin Knox is $200 but because we are having an off peak wedding on
30th Sept its only $150

$50 deposit and then u can pay him the rest whenever (even the day of the wedding)
