is it really gonna be that bad? We are going for the dis anniversary and group rates start Memorial weekend. We would plan on going to the parks early and then doing an afternoon break and heading back in the evenings.

Depends on your definition of "that bad". Not being sarcastic at all, but everyone sees it differently. It's a holiday weekend, schools in the south are just letting out. It's going to be busy. Not as nuts as 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Years, but busy for sure. I love going on the holidays, but I'm not all that bothered by the big crowds at WDW. You just have to have the right mindset, use FP+ to your advantage and know where you're going.

EDIT: Sorry, just dawned on me that it was Labor Day that we went, not Memorial Day (wrong end of summer). But still...we've been for 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Xmas. Labor Day was more crowded than a regular summer week, but not as bad as the other holidays. I'm guessing Memorial is the same.

I'm fine with crowds. Bad to me would be if everything had a huge wait and the only thing to do would be people watching. Which for me wouldn't be too disappointing but for the kids it's a different story lol

Pandora at Animal Kingdom will be opening that weekend, so expect that to be a very busy park.

You'll be fine.

Be there for rope drops and be smart the first hour or so, then knock out your FP+ 10:30-11:30...grab some lunch..11:30-12:30 and 12:30 - 1:30 then go back to the resort. For your evenings use your add'l FP's or things with short standby wait times and enjoy the night time entertainment.

No reason to wait more than 20/25 minutes really for anything so long as you don't NEED to do Toy Story, Mine Train, etc 8 times in three days.

FWIW - I'll be there that same weekend. I am avoiding AK on may 27 (except MAYBE from like 10-11 pm) but I am planning a whole day there on the 28th....GULP.

With good planning, even during a very busy visit time, you will be fine. DD and I have gone the last 3 years during a very busy Presidents week in February. One year it was also mardi gras so it was even more crowded as several southern states had school/work off for that. We RD the EMH park each day, left for a mid day pool/nap break and hopped to another park late afternoon/evening using our FP's. We rode every headliner multiple times with little to no waits during our 5 days in the parks. If you can use single rider, especially for TT and EE that helps too. Single rider for RNRC is hit or miss as to how fast it moves (or sometimes not). Going this year the week before Memorial Day and will be using the same strategy.

We are going 5/27-6/3. We are prepared for the crowds and plan afternoon breaks. Can anyone tell me how hot it is? Our first trip was in September and I remember how hot it was then.

We've done Memorial Weekend several times and it's not too bad. The crowds definitely pick up Sat - Mon, but it has always seemed pretty manageable to us. Just keep an eye on the wait times apps and you can easily figure out where the bigger crowds are playing.

It's going to be hot and busy - I've gone during that time of year a few times over the past couple of years.

It's not insane level 10 where you can't move (although I'm planning on that for May 27 at Animal Kingdom!) but it's a steady 8 I'd say with lines for attractions being around 45 minutes to an hour standby most of the day.

All times to visit when there is a lot off of school and work are summer like crowds.. easter, thanksgiving, xmas, and nye are the exception where they are even more than peak summer crowds.

It gets hot - but not too bad. We are going from 5/31 - 6/6.

'Very' hot and humid! Forget the calendar - it's summertime!

We have gone the last two memorial day weekends and as long as you expect the walkways to be crowded and make fast passes and dining plans- you will be fine. We take breaks to cool off and expect the crowds. We have gone at other times, and i have noticed overall people clogging walkways make everything feel worse than it really is..... plan plan plan- you will be fine- we love that weekend trip so much!
