Memorial Week Cruise May 24-29, 2009

Another question just came to mind.....What are the Disney paint chips I hear everyone talking of in making their signs? Thanks

I know you are really excited for the husband's return. Our son came home from his 2nd tour in Iraq the end of last year. He has had four tours overseas, 2 in Iraq, 1 in Bosnia, and 1 in Afghanistan. The last tour in Iraq he was gone a year and it was really hard on us and the kids.

I love massages and have had several, just have not made up my mind yet about them on the cruise. I want to, but have not discussed it with DH.

DD got me started on pedicures and I love them. Spoiling myself is a perk and I deserve it!!

We are also looking so forward to this cruise. DH does whatever we plan. His reply when I ask him what he wants is "whatever you decide". That is one of the many reasons I love him and we have stayed happily married for so long.

The disney paint chips are at Home Depot. The disney line of colors are done on mickey heads and are really cute. Both my kids rooms are done in those colors!!

I started working on my door sign and I am going to try to put the finishing touches on it this weekend. I will take a picture of it to get you guys opinion. I was wondering, does anyone know how soon you can start making reservations online for like Palo, excursions, and the spa? I am trying to plan things. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Thanks in advance!

If you haven't ever cruised w/ disney before we can't make reservations until 75 days out from the cruise date. If you have cruised w/ disney you become a castaway member and I believe you get to start reservations 100 days out. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who has already started door signs!!! We reseved our cruise july 31 and I started messing with signs that very night!!!!! My best friend is the graphic designer for Kentucky Monthly magazine and she made 4 really cool ones for me. I've made 3 that I was actually satisfied with so I have 7 now!!!

Has anyone bought their pirate costumes yet? I bought my daughter a super cute one at a consignment store. I bought my sign a pair of pants and all kids of accessories the day after halloween for 75% off so we are ready to go. I'll try and get pictures of my door signs and the pirate costumes posted soon.

I've got a count down calendar on my facebook page and it's 5 months and 23 days until we cruise!!!!! HOORAY!! (I know I'm pathetic but my kids ask me daily how much longer)!!!! And in case anyone is wondering, the ones of us who are not castaway members the way I have it figured we can start making excursions and palo reservation on March 10 (I assume when midnight hits march 9 into the 10th we can begin making them).

I was collecting graphics before I even made the reservations for the cruise. I have so many now it will be hard to decide which ones to use!!
I had not even thought about anything pirate! Which night does that usually happen?
Hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday and did not eat too much or spend too much on Friday either!!
DD and I went shopping Friday and managed to get only one Christmas present, but bought each of us several items for this winter.
Now I have to get through Christmas so that I can really start planning the rest of the vacation.

Can someone tell me how to upload pics to the site?:confused3 When I click on the upload icon it ask me for a website.

I hope everyone is still excited as I am for the cruise :cool1:.

The fuel charge was dropped so make sure you all call and get the onboard credit if you've already paid or get an adjustment to your price if you still have a balance.

Hey, everybody! Working these extra shifts is darn near killing me, but I don't want any excuses when its time to cruise! As our cruise gets closer, I am stockpiling all the necessities. I found those cute little paint chips at Home Depot, so I will probably finish the magnets this weekend. I have been checking out the other sites and this one by far is the most informative. I have gotten so much useful information. I wonder what the weather will be like Memorial Week? Happy New Year!

I feel that anything will beat what Texas has had lately. In the 70's and 80's one day and 30 the next has got everyone sick and getting sick. We have had it this crazy before, but not so many weeks in a row. We had ice yesterday and it is supposed to be back in the 70's Friday!!!
Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Do any of you already know your room number? Ours is 6080. I bought our airline tickets a couple of weeks ago, so almost everything is done. Just waiting to do all the reservations.

When I checked my mail yesterday there was a book from disney in it that described all the excursions and had tips for packing and little stuff like that. I was so excited to get to set down and read through it after I put my kids to bed last night. There was also a paper in there that said we could begin making kids club reservations, palo reservations and excursion reservations on March 10. The time is nearing!!! I've got most of my signs made but none of them printed. I'll get there though.

There are 8 of us going and we have 3 rooms booked. My room is 8052 and the other 2 rooms are 6###. I cant remember the last part of the number. I just know they all start with 6. I'll have to look that up tonight.

Hope everyone is well and excited. It won't be long guys. According to my count down calendar its 4 months and 17 days until we cruise!!! We booked our cruise in July so 4 1/2 months is a major milestone for us.

:yay: Hi guys, completely new to this. Just found this site and how great is this that we get to chat before our cruise and learn from each other!

This will be our first cruise. 3 generations are going. Me, I'm grandma to the group. We'll be staying on deck 7, and are doing the land and sea package. Can't wait. It will be my 3rd time at Disney. The little ones will love it!!! pirate:

Great to meet all of you. :) pass on any tips you have. Also, can you tell me what the door signs are you talk about. My son will have his b-day aboard.

Hello g-ma. Welcome aboard!!:goodvibes

We are also having a 3 generation family cruise so you have already got something in common with all of us.

The door magnets are pictures and names that you can create or use this discussion board and have them created for you. You print out your creations, add a magnet to the back of them and put use them on your stateroom door as decoration. Most people use disney character pictures and add their names and stateroom numbers to them. There is a thread on this discussion board that has pictures of peoples state rooms and signs you can copy and edit yourself. I'll post it on here when I find it.

Again, welcome to our board. Our cruise time is nearing :cool1:

Aw, how cute is that! Thank you so much for telling us about them. I had no idea (as we're new to cruising) and the kids will love putting something together for their doors. Do you know if we also bring something to hang on the side? I noticed something hanging from a hook on the side, maybe for mail.

Too cute, thanks again.

Well, I've been Disney crazed for 2 days now. Learning sooooooo much and can't wait for the fun to begin.--------M

Welcome g-ma.
Where are you from?
My dh and I will be on this cruise by our lonesome celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. We are on deck 6.
We are also going to be at WDW before and after the cruise which will make our 6th visit.
Can't wait!

The things you are seeing outside the cabins that look like mail holders are call Fish Extenders. Thats what this forum discussion is supposed to lead to. If everyone decides to do it you hang a fish extender ( you can make one of buy one off of ebay) outside your door and eveyday your friends form this forum puts little gifts in there for you and your family. Some people make things that have the cruise date on it and other people buy dollar stuff and put in there. We have yet to have the discussion about doing a fish extender meet on this board. Anyone want to volunteer to start it?

Thanks for the warm welcome ladies. I am learning so much on this site. Our group consists of about 16. Hubby (grandpa) and I, our children (and significant others), and all the kids. I'm so glad we learned about the door signs or the kids surely would have been disappointed when we got there. What lil one doesn't want Mickey on his door?

I noticed things hanging from the fish. So, duh, that makes sense now...fish extenders, lol :rotfl2: I said to my girls, I don't know what this "fish extender" thing is. Omg, how simple. :confused3

Anyways, their all busy checking out the door magnets and getting excited about making them and I think we would be interested in doing the extender. We are all on deck 7. Have 4 cabins. Keep us updated on what to do, etc.I will talk to the kids about it.

Kathy, congrats to you and hubby on anniv. This summer we will celebrate #27.

Take care all, I'll keep checking back. I'm hooked now, lol.--------Mar

Hi All
Just joining the fun. We have a room on hold and are reserving this week. This will be our 4th Wonder cruise. We have 5 year old twins who are totally excited!

I have been wanting to do a 7 day but this was the only one available with early dining guaranteed and we had late last time and it just did not work at all for us with the little ones.

I saw some early talk of saving money - our favorite day at Nassau is actually very inexpensive - you can walk out of the port, follow the coast to the right and in about 1.5 miles (maybe less) there is a hotel (may have been a hilton). You can use their beach and pool for about $15 an adult and $7.50 for kids. They give you 1 towel so you may want to bring an extra one.

We had an amazing time and it is an easy walk, just past the straw market.

I recall they also had some float things in the pool and kyaks you can use for free.

Hi, welcome aboard!:) We're gonna all have a great time! It's nice to know u are a seasoned cruiser. You can give us all some tips. Are you doing any parks too?

At Nassau I think we are doing the beach day and dig. And my son wants to hit the casino. He turns 26 the day we are there.

We have lot's of kids in our group. I have a 5 yr. old grandaughter going. Are your twins boys or girls?

We just switched our dining to the early seating today. After much reading, I figure that will be best.

What deck will you be on? Any tips-----pass them on.-----------Mar :3dglasses

Yes, we are spending 3 days at the parks first.

The twins are both girls and we are on deck 6.

Tips - I just changed my room to get away from the mid ship elevators. I now people say that the ship rocks less but those elevators are more crowded.

Also, I like to be in a room that is not right by the elevators. We were about 5 rooms down the hall last May and could hear the elevator chime from the room.

Get on the boat as early as you can to take advantage of all the fun! Lunch when you get on is in Parrot Cay or Beach Blanket Buffet. Go to PC if you want to see characters - if they try to scoot you upstairs because it is full you can just tell them you want to wait and they will let you - we have only waited 5-10 minutes.

Once you do a Disney cruise, the parks you have loved your whole life may no longer be your favorite place to be!
