We will be there for the memorial holiday week, can someone tell me how the crowds are. On memorial day itself are the parks busy or slow. I would like to prepare myself before i get there. We usually go during the slow season. So a holiday week is new to us.

We have spent Memorial Day at WDW 3 out of the last 4 years and the park is definitely crowded. Fortunately, the next day is less crowded (still busy, but not like Memorial Day itself).

All that being said, we are going back again this year and will be there on Memorial Day...either I haven't learned my lesson or it isn't bad enough to keep me from coming back for more. ;)

Enjoy your trip!

Never been during Mem Day but we r going this year May 27 - june 3
Hoping for the best and trust TGM ;)

We go this week every year, will be there 5/27 - 6/2, then over to Universal for a couple of days. It is crowded over the Memorial Day weekend, but the days after aren't too bad.

is memorial day the friday or the monday? May 26th or 29th? :confused3
we're gonna be there may 21st to 28th and now i wonder about the crowds ...we 're from canada and didn't know about this holiday,,,,crap

Memorial Day is celebrated on Monday the 29th. Don't worry about the crowds...just plan to wait a little longer that day than the others you are there. Maybe you could plan some things outside the park to avoid some of the crowd.

Enjoy your trip! :goodvibes

We're going from Sunday May 28 to Saturday June 3 so we will be there for Memorial Day. I was wondering, which day is worse, Sunday or Monday? I thought that maybe Monday wouldn't be as bad at night because people would start leaving to go home. And how are the crowds on Memorial Day compared to mid-late August? Are they worse or about the same?

Our first day is Memorial Day. We go to WDW every year @ this time. A few years ago the waits were horrible-3 rides in 4 1/2 hours! Last year did TGM and waits no longer than 10 minutes.

I finally got my flight changed today on Southwest. We had the evening flight booked for the $69 and I was so bummed out that we would not be checked in till almost 9pm!! :sad2: :sad2:
Today I checked as I always do and they opened up a couple seats on the morning flight and so I grabbed them and then switched the other to a fun fare and paid the difference!!! I don't even care about the money at this point!! This gives us another whole day at the BWV!! So we will now arrive at 11:00 am on Sunday.

We don't plan any parks that day, but will be at AK for opening on Monday! :goodvibes We have a plan to get started early!! :wizard: I hope that after Monday things calm down for the rest of the week.

Tuesday is EMH evening at MK and so we chose Wednesday for our day there.

You just never know???? :confused3 This will by far be the busiest time we have ever went, but we are just so happy to be going!! Now that I got my flight time changed I am really excited!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Saturday, Sunday and Monday will be very busy. Expect lengthy lines. This is always a very busy weekend for Disney. Signaling the start of the summer season for them. Although not as bad as the week between xmas & NyE.

A couple of suggestions:
Make a few PS before you arrive.
Have your group each make a top 5 list of attractions. Then if staying at a Disney resort use the extra hour option and focus on these list. Then anything else you get done after that is just great extras.

Also use a midday break. Believe me that is when the lines are the longest, the temperature the hotest and tempers the shortest. We go back for lunch, a swim or a nap. Then we return to the park before or just after dinner and stay for the later hours.

See you there

Thanks Grumpy92
Having a 4 year old and a 1 year old a midday break sounds like a great idea. We are staying at the Beach Club so I think we will take advantage of the extra hours.
Hope everyone has a great trip

BabyJosie,

We should be on the same SW flight on the 28th from STL!!! Will be me and DD 12. Our dates are the 28th to 6/5.

Wonder what MK will be like that Sunday. It's evening EMH.

We're dying to try Everest so we'll probably be up early Monday for AK too!!!

I can not even tell you how excited I am that I was able to switch to the morning flight!! :cool1: Boy they are not making much available for the internet rate. Guess because of the Holiday!
It will be me and my DD (8) & Nephew (10).... Then Mom and Dad fly down on Wednesday.

We are doing AK Monday morning...I plan to be there early and head straight to EE and ride it and then get a fast pass and head to the Safari. This will be fun!! :cheer2:

Maybe we will see each other Sunday morning. Should not be much traffic getting to the airport that morning. We live almost 1 hour away.

What resort are you staying at??

As long as we have a plan and use FP we should be fine! :wizard:

Grumpy 92,
We are following your advice..Afternoon breaks are a must!! :thumbsup2
We also have PS for Ohana,Tepanyaki,50 prime time....Couple days we just plan to eat at the Boardwalk.

Michelle, we're doing two nights at Coronado Spgs; 5 nights at Dolphin; then one night at Hard Rock (Universal). Are you doing ME from the airport? We're doing that to the resort and then will rent a car on the 30th at the Dolphin. Although if the rental rates would drop I'd probably extend the rental.

We're excited too. You'd think the excitement would wear off but it doesn't.

I know it's going to be pretty busy but we managed over Easter last year so doubt it will be as bad as that.

Will look for you at the airport...

Sharon

Sharon,

We have almost the same plan. We are doing ME that morning so I am sure we will figure out who each other is by that time... :goodvibes Then we are staying 5 nights at the BWV (first time renting points). Mom and Dad join us on Wednesday at BWV and then we pick up a rental car on Thursday and we are then staying one night at the Radisson Worldgate before we head home on Saturday. :thumbsup2

We stayed the Dolphin one trip and we loved it too. That is when I first saw the BWV and thought..hmmm I will never be able to stay there. :sad2: Then I found out about renting DVC points and met a really great person on line to rent from. I can't wait!! She will actually be down there at the same time so I get too meet her in person! :goodvibes

Have a good weekend all!! Happy planning.

Michelle, We did the Dolphin 5/04 and love it. This year we're staying 'free' on point so can't beat the cost. Only at CSR because it was open at an AP rate and didn't want to spend much. Haven't been there before so who know, maybe we'll fall in love with it.

My suit cases haven't gotten put away from a spring break vacation so I'm ready to get packing!

Are you going to hit Star War Weekends? This will be our third year for that. DD is a fan but I admit seeing the Storm Troopers atop MGM is a thrill for me too!

See Ya!
Sharon

We are also going MEM day to June 3 on SW from STL morning flight. Didn't get Sun. so dh and I are going Mon and staying at CSR on dining plan. Usually stay at S/D and will miss the deluxe but have read good things about CSR. That $69 rate was hard to pass up.
Called today and tried to get an ADR switched and restaurants seem to be full. Glad I did that in advance.
Have a great time. We will have our lime green mickeys on our backpacks!

Is anyone going to EMH at MK on Sunday night the 28th? Is it a given that it will be mobbed? We don't much stop for Spectro or even Wishes anymore so we'll try to get in rides while everyone is stopped for those. We actually try to be on Thunder Mountian when Wishes is going on.

Hi Ozziewags! Yes, SW has hurt me since moving to STL Jan 2005! LOL! My 5/28 flight is 99 per person but was able to change the return to catch the 69. I have a Dis #1 Keyring (lime green) that I put on my bag.

By my count 20 days! Tomorrow we get to do the Teen Dance!

Sharon

OMG< OMG!

I just posted that my 5/28 flight I hadn't been able to catch anything cheaper than 99 each way. For some reason, just pulled it up and there was a $69 available for the same flight!!! Put the change thru and have another $50 credit!!!!

Ozziewags, if you want to get out Sunday, you might want to check!!
