What is everyone doing for the Memorial Day weekend?

I am having a "staying home" vacation. I would say "staycation" but I think that sounds goofy. :) I plan on turning my phone off & acting like I am out of town. I'll get DVDs, read a lot & eat junk food. :). I might even go to the theater a few times, depending on what's playing. My goal is to be VERY relaxed.... :)

What are your plans?

DH is going to the cottage, DS is going to the Brewers game and then staying with a friend Saturday night and DD and I are...? LOL No plans for us. :)

We're all getting together on Monday with DH's side of the family for a cook out and 25th wedding anniversary for my BIL and SIL. :)

As long as the weather holds, we'll be out on the boat from Fri-Mon! Cannot wait!!

OP, I love weekends like the one you have planned! Have fun!!

We're heading up north tomorrow afternoon to our property. We plan on staying at least until Tuesday. Not sure if any family members are going to be joining us or not, but I'll clean the guest camper tomorrow when I get there "just in case." Sounds like the weather is going to be great so we'll do a lot of trail walking, maybe trail riding if we take the quad and Ranger, have some campfires and cookouts, sit and relax and read, listen to the birds, watch the wildlife, etc. Can't wait!!

We are FINALLY going to get in some golf. Usually by this time of year I have 20+ rounds in, other then 3 rounds in Arizona, I have not golfed at all. Monday we are supposed to have highs in the mid-80'--FINALLY some warm weather. DD16 made plans for us to go to my cousin's house. That is all I know :lmao:

OP here -

How fast things change :) My aunt & cousin called and asked if I wanted to go to the Mall of America so I said yes :) so not so much relaxing & movies but it'll be fun :)

I have a 5 mile race on Saturday and the rest of the weekend will be spent doing yard work weather permitting. I have friends doing cookouts and bonfires all three evenings/nights so that is where I'll be once the sun starts to go down.

I love Memorial Day and Independence day because we get together and just hang out with friends enjoying the (hopefully) nice weather.

Are you SURE you want to go there this weekend :scared1::scared1::scared1:

The Boy Scouts/Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and Brownies as well as Verterans will be at Calverton National Cemetary (Calverton, NY) placing flags on the graves on Saturday. DS8 is in Cub Scouts and will be participating. After we are done with the section assigned to his Pack, we will head over to another section to "see" my father who past away in October 2008 about a week or so before DS8 was to start his first year in Cub Scouts.

My father was in the Boy Scout Council and was very proud that his only grandchild was going to be joining Cub Scouts. He even said he would buy him his uniform, but unfortunately, he wound up in the hospital with an infection and didn't make it :sad1:

Other than that we will be going to the airport to pick up DH's cousin from Spain on Monday.

Oh I bet it's gonna be chaos, but we'll probably spend most of our time at the hotel pool & spa. My cousin is also my goddaughter & she REALLY wants me to go soni said yes. :)

I just made my son's last tuition payment for the year, so our memorial day will be spent eating cheap hot dogs boiled in water because my propane tank is empty for barbeque. We'll have to celebrate next week with steak when the next paycheck comes in!:rotfl: That kid is making us broke! But only 3 more college years to go and then I told my husband we'll be rich!

Have fun, everyone!

worked part the weekend and off for hoilday

Broil them in the oven vs boiling them-at least they sort of seemed grilled then :lmao:

Our Cub Scout Pack be doing this Saturday morning too, but only at our little local cemetery. It's such a cool thing to do. It really helps the kids connect with prior vets and with the history of the town and country.

We actually are having a Very Scout-y and Very Baseball-y weekend. Friday Night DH, Oldest DS and Middle DS are going to the PawSox Game. Their Boy Scout Troop is to present colors for the National Anthem and be honored at the game. :cool1: The Troop was named Volunteer the Year by our town last year and the PawSox are recognizing this. Saturday is the cemetery then if we're feeling motivated we'll move on to the clean up our pack is sponsoring at the town beach. Sunday is a family day - if it doesn't rain we'll probably go hiking and have a cook-out. Monday we'll all be marching in the town Memorial Day Parade and Monday night we're heading in to Fenway see the Red Sox game.

I always enjoy reading about everyone's holiday plans. :thumbsup2

Our Md. families are headed to N.C. to visit our DS/DIL, DD/SIL, and their families, to celebrate our sweet DGS's 5th birthday :lovestruc. We're all looking forward to a long week-end together. With expected temp of 85-90* w/scattered T storms, we've reserved a few hotel rooms w/inside pool and arranged w/hotel to take all the grands swimming. Let the fun begin!! :goodvibes

God Bless America ~ with thx and prayers, not only to my dear Dad, a WW11 Vet, RIP , also the many who paid the ultimate sacrifice. :worship:
Hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday!

Cybrkitn, very sorry about your dear Dad, may he RIP.
Cybrkitn and 3boymthr, thank you both, our youth truly need good leaders to look up to and set an example. :grouphug:

Painting the kitchen and hitting Kings Island (our local theme park) with the kids. I'm looking forward to it (well the KI part, the only thing I'm looking forward to in the kitchen is getting done).

A's games on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon (fireworks Sat night!) Meeting the kids for dinner on Sun night for DH's birthday. Younger son has agreed to go to the A's/Yankees game on Monday afternoon with his Dad. (Too many Yankees fans for me to enjoy!) I'll find a project around the house to do on Monday.
