I just got back from my band trip to WDW about 1.5 hours ago. Some CMs were wonderful. I had an exceptional number of rude ones, though. But lets just focus on the awesome ones.

There was a really nice lady in the Tinkerbell store in MGM. I was looking for flip flops and she was super nice and showed me a store that they might be in and gave me the WDW merchandise number in case I couldn't find them. She was so sweet. (I never did find them, BTW)

Monday, we went to MK. There were 7 of us I think. We wanted to ride the Flying Carpets. We were the oldest in line except for the parents with their like 3 year old kids. LOL. So anyways, we get to the front of the line and this guy CM comes up to us. We told him there were 7 of us. He said "OK. Hey, you dropped something" Being the geeks we are, we were all staring at the ground for like 2 minutes totally confused saying "What, we don't see anything, what did we drop?" He laughed at us and said "you're smile" (we had just marched the parade in the 80+ degree heat with our super hot uniforms, so we were really hot and tired). We go "HAHA, that was good" And laughed at ourselves. So he points us to where we need to go. He put everyone else where they needed to go and comes back over to us. He was telling these really corny jokes. He said to my friend, Robin, "you're wearing 2 different shoes" She looks down and says "nuh-huh, you scared me for a second." He said "Yes you do, look." We were all really confused and, yet again, staring at the ground/Robin's feet. He said "See, your right shoe and the left one" We laughed yet again. He told another friend of mine that she had holes in her socks. She said "How do you know?" and we were all just looking at him like "HUH?" He goes "See, your legs are sticking right out of them." He told the same girl "I bet I know where you got your shoes" She goes "Where?" He said "you got 'em on your feet." It was too funny. He was so flirting with us for like 5 minutes. LOL. We went back a while later just to talk to him again and he was gone. :worried: Thats ok, though, because we told a bunch of people in band the jokes he told us and by the end of the day, people were coming up to us telling them to us. They had gotten around the whole band.

So have you ever had any truly memorable CMs (memorable in a good way, I mean and yes, we did have a memorable one in a bad way this trip and on one of my previous trips)?

Those are really great! I'm glad you had a good trip. I would have to say that I had a lot of memerable moments with CMs. Here are a few.

1. On my last trip in january, I got the chance to dance with my special Hoedown friend 4 times. It was great. Even the one time he couldn't (my last day) he gave me to someone else to dance with.

2. Also last trip, I made sure to go see the Sword in the Stone show. On my last day, I went to the 4pm show. When I told Merlin that I was leaving the next day, he gave me one of the medallions to remember him by. It was so nice of him.

3. My favorite memory happened last year. I was waiting to see SADCT in my usual spot (in front of the Barber's Shop on Main Street). Well, all of a sudden, JUST as the parade reached Main Street, it started to POUR!! People started to run for the exit (in front of the floats). Well, since I was already wet, I decided to stay and watch the parade. The greeter directing the floats through the gate was hurrying the characters through (although most were hurrying on their own:teeth: ). Well, as the Aladdin float went by, one of the chimney sweeps came up to me, gave me a HUGE hug, and said that I was one of the best fans ever! :goodvibes

There are more, but this is a good start. I love Disney!!
:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Oh boy!! We were waiting backstage for the parade to start. Sitting on a fence next to us was a chimney sweep. Oh WOW!!! He was sooo cute! And then a couple more chimney sweeps joined him and started talking to us. They were cute, too, but that one was amazing. LOL.

I know there has to be more great CMs!!! I wanna hear more stories!!!

Great stories, the CM's make the difference. Here is a story I had in a trip report from our family trip back in '99. Xenia was my first real touch with 'the magic'.................

Over the past year, various CM's at CRO have taken copious notes from me as I called periodically to "get a better deal", ask questions, etc. They have gotten to know me over the year, as they do put a lot of conversation notes in their computer system. Each time I called, they would usually say, "Let me read your notes", and then ask how they could help me. As we talked, they, also, would add new notes.

I finally had what I thought was a good package of price and tickets for a 7-night/8 day stay (MKC). However I was constantly trying to get a lagoon view for a truly memorable trip for all the family; but was not successful with that last piece, (lagoon view). It was not available with the MKC and the difference between a MKC garden view and a non-discounted lagoon view was just too much. I was willing to pay more but the rooms weren't available at any price.

On a call about 2 weeks ago to CRO to try again, (we all know to keep trying), I talked to CM "Xenia". She asked me to wait a minute while she read my "case". She let out a sigh and said, "My, you have been through a lot". And then, "How may I help you tonight?" I told her my request, (lagoon view, and, if available, I can pay more, but hopefully not too much more). She initially responded, "I don't thing so." But a moment later, before I could respond to yet another turn down, she said, "Let me go check a few things. Can you wait a couple minutes?" I said, "Sure". Well, about 5-7 long minutes later she comes back and says, "Are you still there?" I said, "Yes". She went on, "Tinkerbell just flew by and sprinkled some pixie dust--you and your family have their lagoon view room". I was so pleased, I was ecstatic. I thanked her abundantly, and then asked her the damages, (increase in price). She said, "Tink said-same price, no increase". I was staggered and it took me a minute or so of tears in my eyes with accompanying silence to speak to "Xenia". During my silence, she said, "I know you've been through a lot and when we can help people, we love to do it; you deserve it".

Well, we are <90 days to go. I am so happy for my family and hope so much they will enjoy, (kids being older and such).

My thanks to "Xenia" and the magic that Walt brought to us all and continues on in many CM's

Thank you, Xenia!”

I know! There are some pretty cute chimney sweeps in SADCT! I miss Disney!

There's a black guy at O'Hana that has been there since they opened. Both times I've eaten there he has helped with our table. Probably the nicest guy I've ever met, but I can't remember his name!

Dan - Great Story. I am sure you already know this but each CM has a personnel file that any guest letters get put into.... Feel like writing a letter telling how wonderful Xenia is? I know she would appreciate it.

I have to add, as it will make more sense, I was calling for our trip, our first, and still only, family WDW trip, as a celebration of a return to health of my wife, Marie, from breast cancer the year before (This month marks 8 years since :goodvibes). I was calling so much so as to make the trip 'perfect'. This link, http://www.dmurphydis2.com/Main_menu_DIS_web_page.shtml with a few of the stories, will help make it more clear for those who care to read a bit.

And thanks, CCF, for the reminder.

And at checkin, we were further upgraded to concierge. Lagoon view, concierge, Poly, my family's one and only. The office person at the Poly, Orlando, had reviewed my dossier and further upgraded us. What magic!!

Peter at Epcot. He's responsible for my fabulous signature photo! Our family will never forget him.

That is such a wonderful photo! I just love looking at it!

Thanks for all the great CM stories, everyone. I think for every less-than-magical CM encounter, there are probably 10 good ones. So many times, the bad ones are the ones posted about so I always enjoy reading the positive ones. Those great CMs definitely deserve the recognition.

We have been fortunate to experience several special CM encounters and a front desk CM provided us with some magic on our most recent trip. We had taken the KTTK tour early in our trip and received the special pin given at the conclusion of the tour. Somehow, the clasp on my sister's pin must have loosened and she lost it but didn't notice until we had gone back to our room. She was upset to have lost it because it was really a nice memento.

A few days later, I went to the front desk to pick up our HDDR tickets and the CM noticed my KTTK pin and commented on it. I told her about my sister losing hers and the CM said maybe she could do something about it. I was so surprised and said I'd be more than happy to pay for a replacement if she could get one. She said that wouldn't be necessary and she wasn't really sure she could even get it. She made a phone call but that person was out of their office. She said she would keep trying and would even call from home if she couldn't reach them before she left for the day. Later that afternoon, I had a phone message to come to the front desk for an envelope. I asked my sister to go with me - she knew nothing of what was in the works. When I got the envelope, I handed it to my sister and she was completely surprised! I guess receiving another pin doesn't sounds like such a big deal but the point is that this CM went out of their way to do something very nice and thoughtful for a guest. I sent a very complimentary letter to Guest Relations and received a phone call from them a few weeks ago thanking me for taking the time to send a letter and letting me know it had been shared with the CM. We had, of course, gone back to the front desk say our "thank you" in person when the CM was on duty but I felt this bit of magic deserved a letter, too.

One of my truely wonderful CMs is one of the interpreters. Well actually several of them are. One is Brian. He can convince me to try just about anything with his teasing. Got me to do the hula at Luau. Got me to touch a snake. He has this wonderful personality. Don't get me wrong, Tara, Marvin, Angela, Kevin, Eli, Summer, Theresa, Rafael and all the ones who have come before are awesome as well but Brian can be silly and teasing and always can get me out of a funky mood.

We have experienced MANY wonderful CMs at WDW in all places. But our most favorite one that we see at each visit is our pal Michael at the Main Street Barber shop. We let our children get haircuts or styled while we are there each time. He cut my DS's hair at 5 months old- Just one little snippet, of course. But in July our DD will be 6 months and we will try for the same.

He is so fun to listen to and we enjoy seeing him each time.

Thanks Michael!!!! :)

Love this picture. Sure would be great to be able to get so many characters together like that at one time for a picture. :thumbsup2

I was there when you had this taken -- I didn't see it happen but thought I recognised you -- it wasn't until you said it was at Epcot that I put it together -- what a wonderful shot!!

Isn't that true! On this trip, though, the bad ones definitly outweighed the good ones. Maybe it was because we were a bunch of teenagers and didn't have to pay for anything (got meal tickets), so they looked down on us. I don't know, but HOORAY for the awesome CMs!!!!

Dan, it sounds like you had a great trip! I bet it was one to remember for a lifetime!

VickiVM: I love that picture! I love looking at it all the time!

Here's the story on the photo:

"The Family"

Someone came up to us afterwards and asked how much we had to pay for that opportunity. I felt so guilty because we didn't ask nor had any expectations of that sort of gesture. It all happened so fast. But it made for the most blessed moment of all our trips!

Thanks, all, for allowing me to share this.

Ricardo is a waiter at Yachtsman Steakhouse... we LOVE him!!! We love him so much that I named my wooden giraffe I got on that trip after him. Hopefully, he would be flattered :teeth:
