We always thought our guests staying with us would get the member discounts too, but this trip it was not a given. Sometimes they would give them our discount, and sometimes they wouldn't. It was both ways at Olivias. Once they gave our guests the discount when they were with us, but once they did not, even though we mentioned that they were staying with us. What is the offical word on this?

Is the member discount back at Olivia's? When we were there last month they had discontinued the 10% member discount at lunch, but honored my AP discount. Now, I know policies change from time to time, but if APs get a discount for lunch I think members should, too.

The website listed the Olivia's today. It looks like it expired for just a few days then was renewed, likely an oversight.
Enjoy casual dining with a Key West atmosphere and great menu items.Disney Vacation Club Members who dine in receive a 10% discount on food and non-alcoholic beverages. For Priority Seating, please call407-WDW-DINE (939-3463)*. Note: This offer begins January 4, 2004
Had you paid for the entire bill and had them reimburse you, they would have gotten the discount. They may or may not get it unless they are members also otherwise. By you being present and your name on the card and assuming you were paying separately, you were essentially proving they were not members.

I am confused as to how the waiter/waitress would even know that your guests were not members? I thought all key cards in the party said 'MEMBER' on them.

I did have this problem once for my guests, but it was at check-in and it was for UPHs. The front desk cast member obviously knew that my in-laws were not members, but she ended up giving the discount anyway.

There are two ways. One is if a credit card says one name and the room card another. In this case it sounds like you had he member paying plus another person trying to pay at the same time from the same table with the same name on the room card. Still, I'm surprised they didn't give the discount.

I guess it is just another example of lack of consistancy. I was at TDS the other day and didn't have my membership card. The CM and I were talking and she said tink was her favorite. For some reason I had an old room key in my wallet (always seem to have the wrong item). I got a TDS discount because my room key from a year ago said "MEMBER". It just goes to show each CM chooses weather to have some leeway or be beyond strick.

LOL, we had the same issues at TDS in San Antonio in December. Used the Disney credit card that said Member since day one as documentation.

Uh? So if my parenst were staing with me I coudln't get them a discount on their tickets?

Regardless, I still think for us the AP is the best bet and for them a plain ole' advacne purchase 5 day hopper from the DS is cheaper.
