FWIW,

A simple Google search turned up 23 hits on the SUPER SECRET member services phone number. Sites included the UK's Disney Information Bulletin Board, MouseTyme.com, PassPorter.com, MousePlanet, Deb's AllEarsNet.com, and a couple time share re-sellers.

Like I said, make em work for it. Nothing super secret about it. Just should not be general info passed around on the boards by members. You could probably google me and come up with my info too but Im not volunteering anything!

Maybe someday we will run into each other at OKW. I know one thing about you that is you smoke, so does my wife. Well we have two things in common, no 3, members of OKW, CT, and you and my wife smoke, well should really run into one another now.

Hopefully in a smoking OKW villa. :p

Speaking of what our dues pay for...last week when we were at BWV and had the security incident (previously posted). The manager came to our room. As we were all walking out, I turned all the lights off. He looked at me amazed and said WOW a guest that turns lights off...That's great! I told him "We own here. I treat this as my own home. If the lights are left on it comes out of my pocket." He asked if I could explain that to everyone in the building! :p

You are just saying that because we both live in CT and about 10 miles from one another. Of course, Ct is not noted for its friendly people, taxes yes. I had NO idea you lived that close. Dare I ask where? Actually we have 4 things in common, we are both nice. :)

well, let's try this. It is against board policy to publish the numbers.

DVD is taking care of the cost to build the new slide.

I was not aware of this. I've looked closely at the DISboards Guidelines , Webmaster Doc's excellent Welcome To The DVC Forum message and the Frequently Asked Questions, but the only taboo topics I’ve learned about are advertising, profanity, fighting and occupancy limits.

Clearly I've missed the spot where it says what DVC information is forbidden/secret on this board. Can someone please point me in the right direction before I, or some other poorly informed person, get run out of town on a rail?

Is there a moderator in the house?

Yes, that was my post that was edited by the moderator.

I was unaware of this "policy" and now I'm trying to find where it is written down (if it is) just incase there are other policies I, and others, don’t know about.

I only found out when I did a search for the number right after my resale closing so I could make my ressies. I got lots of threads that cited the policy, but I also found the number.

Another one I discovered is that you are not allowed to disguise forbidden "curse words" by using asterisks (or other characters) for missing letters. Not that this is a foul-mouthed lot, but sometimes a passionate post begs for a little emphasis.

While I may or may not agree with all the rules, I'm happy to abide by them. (Assuming I know what they are!) I figure it's not so different from asking smoking guests at my home to honor my no smoking rule and step outside when the urge strikes.

Bottom line is, I think most people here are simply trying to be helpful. If someone inadvertantly takes a misstep that seems blatant to those who've been around awhile, a quiet PM is generally adequate.

Still, I don't think it's a bad idea to post or bump a reminder from time to time for the newbies. Policies stated in past threads are not readily available to those who've only recently arrived.

The -800 ******** number is useless unless you are a member.

The first thing said on there phone is if you are calling about tickets, ect, ect call 1-407-Wdisney. Then they go into Membership related calls.

When I call for DVC reservations they ask for the member # first. If you do not have it they ask other questains to insure you are a member.

So how could anyone who is not a member have any use for this number?

If it is useless to them and it bothers other members, why give it out.

Tigger

MS has both a toll-free number and a "regular" number.

Seems to me that we could just post the regular number (407-566-3800) for anyone who asks. If the poster requesting the number is a member, I'm sure MS would give the toll-free number to him/her if asked.

800 number bills can be expensive - I've seen some that run into the thousands of dollars per month. (used to work for a Baby Bell). I have no idea what the monthly bill for MS might be, but I'm quite sure it is not cheap!

Personally, I wish MS would refuse to talk to non-members on the toll-free line except for asking that they call back on the 407 number. I have no problem with anyone giving out THAT number.

That's JMHO. YMMV.

I give anyone who rents from me the number so they can call and confirm their ressies it helps them feel a little more at ease. I got the number for MS off this site when I was looking to buy in and rented points before my contract closed. I really don't have an issue with them having the number most just want to ask questions and are usualy given a guides name and number anyhow.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

to help in the confusion over the guideline for the MS phone number. We have added it to the filter so that it will not show anytime someone types. This way there will be no accidental posting of the number. Hey, I was here awhile before I knew the number was a no no. :) :)

Of course, those who take measures to circumvent the filter with other characters inserted between the numbers, will intentionally breaking board guidelines and be referred to the webmasters.

Hope this help
