I Heard that will be changing. Not sure when because it would take a good deal of resources to manage that. But a CM said that this was in the works for later.
That would certainly hurt the ones grandfathered in to blue card status on only 25 direct points but took advantage of the savings resale provides.

SSR & OKW owners would actually have to 11 month their reservation for a MM date then I'm guessing if only able to use direct points.

It would make sense for DVD to keep their most attractive perks tied to direct point usage when possible. I couldn’t really blame them if they kept adjusting in that direction. They need reasons for people to keep buying direct points after the 150pt card is satisfied, especially as more points/properties keep getting added to the system and resale inventory keeps growing.

We might add 150pts in the next couple years and this is playing into if the resale savings are enough to risk being cut out of perks down the road when using those points. These contracts are a long time. I’d rather get a good deal on direct than adding resale. The last thing I want to do down the road is sell my resale to upgrade direct and see it would’ve been cheaper starting out the gate with good direct incentive round instead. Between paying commission, extra closings, and credit card bonuses, that math is very possible.

Why is everyone buying today if it doesn't take effect until 1/12? Is there a limited number they are selling?

I'm just confused why people would give DVC their money over a month early.
Im international and since the system allowed me to buy in I did. According to the T&C it’s not supposed to work but it did.

Better do it now if they fix whatever error caused me to buyin, in the first place.

The terms and conditions already state that the rules for OTU points have not changed. A membership will only be allowed 24….just like it is now.

The question some of us have is whether or not two members of the same household who have more than one membership can purchase and then unlock the deal on both memberships.

Like now, I can buy 24 OTU points on each of my three memberships…so, will there be a way to unlock the benefit if more than one owner buys and uses it on a different one.

I buy to use our June UY and DH buys and used it on the Dec UY..

The other question I have is related to points being used for the AP…will any points one owns be eligble to use to trade, and if not, will they allow transfers between owners memberships to combine for the purchase.
I just purchased and this paragraph is pertinent under “future benefits” heading:

Get one bonus One-Time-Use Point for each One-Time-Use Point purchased! Members can purchase up to 12 Points for a total of 24 One-Time-Use Points in a Use Year.

Based on the combination of this, the fact that many of us have multiple UYs, and this program is called, Membership Magic Beyond: my opinion is that once a qualifying member purchases it, it is applicable across all memberships owned by the member.

So @Sandisw and I can purchase once and have BOGO OTUP for each of our 3 memberships. (This sentence may be misleading. We are not married to each other. Hahaha 😂. )

What about DVC-N memberships for “hybrid owners”? I’m obviously hoping they will be and will test it soon after January 12.

We’ll know soon enough…

I'm confused about the one time use year points. Exactly what is the benefit that comes with this purchase? We want to go to Hawaii in 2026 but will be short on points, so this may benefit us greatly.

Edit. I just found my answer. Thank you

Depending how the free OTUP are governed it is either a good deal or a really good deal.
Really good if you can buy 12 get 12 across all your UYs.

My question...if we buy 24 OTU points with this MM thingy, can we use those and some of our points to trade into disney collection to book a room at Yacht Club and also not pay the trade in fee? Or can we not use the OTU to trade into Disney collection?

I am a Canadian owner but have a US address as well. Has anyone tried changing their address to see if they are able to purchase?

Hmm wonder how they will keep track when you get the OTUP/Free OTUP

My guess is it will flag just like transfers can be flagged. When they go to process the payment, it will show that the persons already took advantage of it.

But, it does make you wonder if owners of more that one UY will be able to pruchase and then access the benefit on a different UY.

See, i do not read it that way. I read it as I am eligible for a total of 24 with the special. Won’t matter which UY I do it, because it says “per benefit season” which means one set with the deal every calendar year

I can still get my total of each UY of 24 but I will pay full price for those.

I guess we will have to wait for reports. I don’t plan on trying though.

OTU points don’t trade out so I do not believe you can. ETA:::I was wrong!!!

oTU points can be used for restricted DVC resorts like RIv.

^In that last link:
“One-time-use points may not be used for Home Resort Priority. A Member may purchase one-time-use Vacation Points for Disney Collection and World Collection reservations, provided the booking window for that trip is open (for example, Disney Cruise Line reservations may be open up to 2 years in advance). One-time-use Vacation Points may not be purchased for options offered through hotel exchange.”

——Looks like you can!

To the other question about buying and using OTUP across different memberships…
Not sure how they mean this but it does say
  • A maximum of twenty-four (24) Vacation Points (including one-time-use Vacation Points and Bonus Points) can be acquired by a Member per Benefit Season.
Sounds like one individually named member won’t be able to exceed 24pts under the MMB program.

This is how I read it too. I think the confusion is that the program doesn’t change a members ability to get up to 24 OTU point per membership.

You can still do that…but you won’t get the discounted price for more than one set.

I’m wondering if our children who are named on our direct contract could buy separate MMB if they also each owned their separate 150pt contracts, then if all 3 of us each bought $99 MMB we’d each be able to buy up to 24 discounted OTUPs.

Not that I really want to do that 😅 That’s for sure more points than I want right now! Just trying to figure out how a family with different memberships could use MMB/OTUP.
