We recently purchased a BWV resale (in addition to our VWL membership we bought through DVD) and got our membership cards from Disney (yeah!!). A couple of things were kind of odd though....

1. They mailed us both the new BWV cards and sent new VWL cards as well. There is absolutely no difference in the VWL cards that they sent vs. the ones we already had. (and no, they didn't send any "valid" stickers ;) ).

2. They mailed us the cards in two envelopes. The first was the BWV cards....and they were addressed to DW. The second was the VWL cards....and they were addressed to me. Just seems strange since I handled both transactions.

3. The strangest thing was the BWV cards. My wife's card says "Member since 5/98". My card says "Member since 7/01". I thought that was weird. The only thing I can think of is that the former owner was a woman who bought in 1998, then got married or added her husband in 2001??? Just thought it was a little odd.

This is mostly just for a little musing.....the bottom line is we have our points and they're good until 2042!! The rest of it is "just details". :p

When I joined OKW a few years back I added my 2 adult children to the deed. First they sent me 2 sets of cards in ny name and my wife's name. None for the kids. Then they sent me a set of cards in my kids names. Then they started sending all the information on our membership to my daughter and not to my wife and I. I knwo we receive duplicate info but I figure when you pay for a membership they should at least be able to get material to all those listed as owners. After many phone calls and about 3 emails I have finally ((2 years later) gotten them to recognize all of us and they send material to all 4 members on my deed. I told them they could stop sending info to the kids if necessary but that I wanted them to at least recognize the primary purchasers - my wife and I. The system that handles the membership information definitely needs a tune up but I will say everyone I dealt with was very nice. It just seemed for awhile that no one could get anything done.

When you purchase a resale contract you kindof take on the identity of the pervious owner in the sense that the database tracks from the original contract purchase year.

Your name and information basically just overwrites the old information, but the "Member Since" info doesn't change.

I don't think MS can even tell that you're not the original purchaser unless they really look.

I wonder if there was just one owner on the BWV contract you bought and only one of you would get the original date and the other would revert to your WL purchase date.

Granny:

Do you have separate use years on the two contracts? We purchased a BWV contract resale a while after we purchased at VWL. Ours was a different use year, so I didn't think anything of the wierd dates. But I often wondered what we would have recived if we had the same use year?

Dean...good question, but the Member Since date on my BWV card is not the same as my VWL Member Since date.

HB Cat...yes, they are different use years. VWL is February, BWV is October. So I knew the contracts would always be viewed separately by DVD. I just thought some of the stuff was odd.

Like...why did they send out new VWL cards when I bought BWV re-sale? I guess the computer just says ... "Hey, new owner!" and spits out whatever cards that owner should get.

Like I said, it's no big deal...but it is a little strange to have a different "member since" date than my wife.:p

I'm surprised that DVD doesn't start our Member Since date from the closing date. There are now two sets of people in the world with DVC cards that say they are a member at BWV since such and such date.

Interesting.

Granny:

I agree with you, no big deal but the same exact thing happened to us and I found it odd too. Our use years are September VWL and October BWV. You would think that Disney would have a computer system that could deal with these kinds of things. But like you said

the bottom line is we have our points and they're good until 2042!! The rest of it is "just details
