When one DVC member rents pts from another DVC member (actually specifically buy/rents a reservation) can the reservation be transfered from the sellers account to the buyers account in tact?

Or would the seller have to cancel the reservation transfer the pts to the buyer and then the buyer would make a new reservation (hoping that the villa would still be available)?

No. The seller can change the name on the reservation to that of the buyer, but the seller retains complete control of the reservation.

If the buyer wants to control the reservation, then yes. Only the points can actually be transferred. The buyer would havd to make a new reservation and that would be subject to availability. If there were a waitlist for the time in question, the dates would go to fill the waitlist request when the seller cancels the reservation.

Thanks CarolMN.... a follow up question... Do you know if when talking to MS to cancel the reservation if it can be determind BEFORE the reservation is cancelled if any of the dates are waitlisted? Letting you know before you 'do it' of how assured you'd be to get the reservation back, or is it just 'try and see'.

Thanks again......

As far as I know, you can ask the CM if there is a waitlist for the dates you need. He/She should be able to tell you.

But to me, the easiest way is to just ask the CM what availability looks like for your dates, room type and resort. You can ask that before you even get into the transferring transaction.

Best wishes -
