I'm confused. I just got my DVC Vacation Magic. Page 6, they say I cannot reserve & stay at a Member Getaways destination withint 60 days of the end of my Use Year.

Is this a new policy? What does that mean? If my year starts Oct 1, does it mean I cannot use it in Mem. Getaway from Aug to Oct every year? If so, I'm really screwed, since I have some points I must use before Oct 1 2001, and I was planning to go to Lake George resort.

:(

You can't MAKE a reservation during the last 60 days of your use year for a trip in the last 60 days of your use year. If your use year is October, you would have to make your reservation before August 1 for a stay in August or September at a non-DVC resort. This is because DVC takes your points and rents them out to pay for your stay. This gives them at least 60 days to do it before your points expire.

Also note that this has been the rule for a very long time. It only excludes making both the reservation and the trip in the last 60 days; it does not exclude making the trip in the last 60 days if the ressie is made before then.

Yes, that's been the rule since I think forever. It's just one of the rules that we tend to gloss over until we think about using it. As Debbie says, it makes sense when you think about it. They have to have time to "sell" your points to "pay" for the non-DVC vacation you are taking.
