Hi, Long time dvc member and infrequent poster here.
We have a points only stay booked 6/14-25 which still hasn’t been canceled by member services. Some points were to expire end of July( August use year) others not.
Should I just cancel it and assume the points will go into their correct spots? I understand the expiring points are good through end July 2021.
I did speak to member services last week and they said reservation would automatically cancel, and then points would be put back. Strange this hasn’t happened yet.
Thanks !

Don’t cancel it yourself. Disney will cancel it in a few days, and I don’t know if cancelling voluntarily will automatically get you the special treatment for your expiring points.

Thank you for your reply; I will leave reservation as is for now.

Because the bulk of your trip is during the closed dates, your points would qualify, even if you cancel.

The move of points isn’t always done immediately. So if you want them soon, I’d call, ask them to cancel and see what you can get moved during the call.

If you are in no rush and were told they are still auto canceling then no harm in waiting for them.

They will cancel it probably today or tomorrow. They will not notify you. It will just be gone.

Still not cancelled. Very strange.
Our reservation with check-in on 6/4 was cancelled by Disney on 5/28, so 7 days before. Today being a Sunday might push your cancellation to tomorrow. And yes, they don’t send an email.

Update:
I had to call member services to cancel. Called at 9 am and got right through.
Was told that my expiring points are good for a year but that I don’t have access to them until after August. Is that because they are banked? Sorry if I seem thick. Figuring out use year has always been difficult for me all these years ( bought in 96). It’s like when they do time travel on Star Trek; it hurts my brain🤪.
The other points went back into 2020, and I will see them in a couple of weeks, I was told.
I am hoping I will be able to use the banked points in a timely fashion. Are others worried about this?
Thanks for any input!

It sounds like these are 2019 UY points that are eligible for late banking due to closure,

However, DVC isn’t actually banking them until after they expire...that is why you won’t see them until August 1st.

You must have also had borrowed points and those will go back, but usually within 15 days.
