Member Name on Two Reservations?

Can anyone suggest how I can do this? I was told by Member Services that I (member) cannot be on two reservations for the same dates.

This is our situation:

I have a reservation for 1 BR at VWL for Nov 30 - Dec 5. Primary name on this is my daughter (associate member) who will be there with her 2 kids.
I plan to join them on Dec 2, so I will be staying with them for 3 nights and need to be listed on the reservation. I know that I will have to pay for DDP for the total 5 nights and will need Magic Express from this resort to return to airport.

I also have a reservation at BCV that was originally reserved in my mother's name on Nov 30 - Dec 1. Now my mother cannot go, but I want to keep this reservation and stay there myself for two nights alone, before moving over to VWL to be with daughter and her kids.

Technically, I will not be at two resorts on the same dates:
Nov 30 - Dec 1 at BCV and Dec 2 - 5 at VWL will be the actual stays.
But since I am joining them Dec 2, my name needs to be on their reservation, pay DDP, etc. But, MS is saying that I can't be on two ressies for the same period.

Is there a way to handle this? I do not want to give up my reservation at BCV for those two nights?

I would call member services again and speak to a supervisor. Besides, how do they know there aren't two "Jane Does" in your family. I've seen Moms and Daughters with the same name, we've had two brothers marry girls wit the same first name, so there were two "Mrs. Jane Does" in our family.

I guess I've never been caught, as several times I've had my name on two ressies at once.
We have booked a second room for my sisters a few times, and I always keep my name on the ressie in addition to theirs. I do this so I can pre check them in before I go to the airport to pick them up.

It's been a year or two since I've done this, so perhaps things have changed?? :confused3

This is a new stiplulation that started when the waitlist rules changed this summer. If they don't have this requirement, you would still be able to work the waitlists to reserve multiple rooms and then cancel the ones you don't want.

I haven't tried but I did ask the this question a few weeks ago and MS confirmed that I couldn't have more than one room with the same people registered. I suppose there are ways around this but they all involve 'bending the truth'.

If it was me, I guess I would call again and try the explanation again. I can't imagine the computer would be able to track that and the other MS staff member may allow it based on the reservation. Might be more successful as there are no waitlists involved?

Not to incur the wrath of the DVC-police, but does it really matter what name is added to the VWL reservation? If they don't want to add Elizabeth Smith to the VWL reservation because she is already staying at BCV, why not add Betsy, Liz or Eliza Smith to the reservation?

You could use your middle initial on one and not the other . I have rented to a family where the mother and daughter have the same name except for the initial so have had to put the middle initials in since they are in the same 2 BR unit. If you are not getting the DDP for the BCV stay why not leave your mothers name on the reservation as the primary person and put your name second with the middle initial or with MS or MRS on one and not the other. As someone else said it could be that two people such as a woman and her mother in law have the same names. I would not even mention to MS that this is what you are doing - You are certainly not breaking any rules.

This actutally started the first of the year with the changes to reduce commerical renting (what ever that means :confused3 ). I got caught in it when I was making early Dec. reservations in early Jan. I thought I would be able to reserve a one bedroom and studio since I was unsure 11 month out who would be coming with me on vacation. It ended up being very easy to work around. I just put my friends name on one and mine on the other since names could be added and changed later. (FYI - I did cancel one unit within a couple weeks for those that were waiting for this busy time) Next time I will be aware of the rule and have my ducks in a row first.

As to the OP.... sounds like you got some better suggestion then I have, good luck!

A little off topic, but your name has to be on the reservation to check in your sister even though you're the member? And now you can't even do that? That's a real bummer, since I have a large group with several rooms I am traveling with this Christmas and I would think it would be easier for the hotel if I could just check everyone in and pass out keys etc. myself!! If this is because of 9/11 security I understand but darn terrorist!!!!

I would think if the only name on the ressie was someone else's name, the CM would be hesitant to give you the keys to their room. I mean, how do they know it's really my sister's room?

I'm not really sure though, I just always assumed my name would have to be on the ressie in order to get the keys. I've never tried it any other way. :smokin:

UPDATE:
I just looked at my October confirmations, and sure enough I have my name on two overlapping ressies at VWL in October. :smokin:
