Member ID Cards

So if I don't call and request one I won't get one? Gee I've only been a member since 03...

Some people did get them, a lot didn't.
BFF still doesn't have one. I told her she better request soon. She is going in Dec. and planning on using the discount

Wellllll ? We have our cards. I'm rather amazed that, given a "new card" date of December 2015.... others have NOT gotten these :(.

I am new to all of this. I did a direct purchase back in April and have been waiting to get our new cards for a while now. I called MS to ask some questions about booking a trip and mentioned to her that we have yet to get our cards. She seemed surprised and put in a request for me. She told me 6-8 weeks.

Today, I was going thru some papers and found my Welcome Home kit. It specifically said to go online to request your membership cards or to download a digital copy. I wonder if that is why we never got ours? I never went online to request them as I thought they would be sent as soon as we closed. Weird....

It been only a couple weeks, so hopefully we get our cards by mid-October.

You should down load the temp card, just to have it for your trip. Hopefully the real card will show up in time. Have a great trip.

My contract was sent to ROFR on March 30th and closed on April 21st. I was not planning on getting a membership card but received one in the mail about two weeks ago. It's the blue one with the expiration date. My DVC account shows the blue card with member since date. I always thought it was based on the contract closing date, so after 4/4 no card. Is DVC going to hit me up with a FedEx envelope to send it back? Just wondering

As long as you passed ROFR before 4/4 you should be grandfathered in. If I recall correctly, even if you were sent to ROFR by your broker by 4/4 you should be grandfathered in.

Many buyers that had already gone through ROFR before April 4, 2016 were grandfathered in to be considered as full members. It looks like you met the cutoff.

That's the thing...I know it was sent to ROFR on March 30th but I remember looking through my paperwork and seeing the ROFR paper with a date after the 4/4. I will have go through my paperwork again and see the dates again.

The date it was submitted was the cut off, not the date they reviewed it or that it passed. So since you know it was sent on Mar 30th that met the criteria to be grandfathered.

That's good to know. Thanks for the responses. Not sure if it even has any real value for me seeing that I live in SoCal and don't plan on buying passes to WDW. I guess it is allowing me and my wife to attend the 25 and Beyond Bash at CA Adventure this November.

Yes, not a whole lot for west coast perks. You already get AP options that are better than the $20 off DVC gives. If you don't get AP's then of course you can get dining and merchandise discounts with DVC but if you do get the AP then that's there already.

So, because I purchased resale and we closed yesterday.... I will get "white cards" and these are meant to show I purchased resale and there for am not eligible for discounts?

You get a digital white card that you can print on your own. Disney won't send you one. It also has a three month expiration date from time of printing.

Oh and I have to print said card every three months? Why would you print it if you can't use it for discounts? Sorry if I'm being dense here.

Just print it out before your trip, or take a photo with your phone of the card to show CM's

I am purchasing resale, and know I won't get discounts and such...no problem, that's the choice I made. But I did my research before putting in my first offer and I could have sworn I saw that part of the maintenance fees go towards printing and mailing of cards, so will I be paying for cards I won't receive?

Maybe, DVC really isn't very transparent on the details of how they spend our money. I tried to get some specifics on when DVD pays, DVC pays and what's included in the management expenses. Sometimes the answer changes depending on who you talk to.

I have always wondered how they split keep track of the resort expenses like utilities, security, front desk, transportation and housekeeping.
