  • We would have enjoyed it but can't travel at that time

  • We are not attending due to cost only

  • We are not attending due to other reasons

  • Still considering attending

  • First I've heard of it -- not attending

  • First I've heard of it -- will consider attending

TVWalsh's post game this thought. As the event nears, I thought it would be interesting to see what kind of DIS turnout there will be at Member Homecoming.

Pam, I'm not really sure where I should vote in this poll. We're not attending because we'll be going to HH the following week, and in all honesty, given the price point, I have no desire to change our vacation plans. So the price does factor into our reasoning... it's just not the sole reason. The way I'm reading the poll, I'd have to choose one or the other...

I know its expensive...but I'm just in the mood to have a great time....My 19 yo son and I will be going..probably last time he wants to spend any time with Dad :)

I voted "We would have enjoyed it but can't travel at that time".
If DVC announced MH before we made our plans for our April trip, we would have definitely attended.

I voted "We would have enjoyed it but couldn't travel at that time." We already had family plans with grandparents and uncle for DD's 5th birthday in December.

First of all - I'm very happy for those who ARE attending and hope that they all have a BLAST!!

But, when this was first announced, we "could have" attended, but I just couldn't justify the price.

As it has turned out, my DH has taken a new job since the announcement, so we would have been unable to attend, anyway.

I certainly struggled with that decision, it's a lot of money, but I still had it in the back of my mind until he took this job. Ultimately, this made my decision MUCH easier!

If we had more notice... we would be there... or at least I would be....

::::sigh::::: bumming here

I voted that we're not going for other reasons. I am surprised at how low a number of people here on the DIS are attending. Since DISers are generally more in the know, the 11% seems like a low number to me. I would guess that the number of those attending overall is really low and they are nowhere near being close to sold out. If there is a lack of success with it, perhaps the cost won't be prohibitive in the future.

Even if we could have gone during that time and thought the cost was something within budget, we still wouldn't have gone. Reason being, I don't think the price, as a matter of principle, could ever be justified for this kind of event and would always "boycott" it.

We'll be at WDW during this time, but we will not be attending due to the additional costs.

1) Mid-week

2) During school

3) Some events late at night

4) But mainly, already going in July

There are 6 of us going, all adults and we can't wait.

We wouldn't have been going at that time of year if it hadn't been for this event. We had such a great time on the Member Cruise and we're really looking forward to see what DVC has in store for us this time.

Hey David, my 19 year old DD will be there. I hope he's in a dancing mood at the DJ party. ;)

David and dvcreg:

I'll be there with my DD18. Maybe we'll have to have a meet for these young adults who will be quickly tiring of spending time with their parents! :p

even if we wanted to go, i heard there are no rooms left, i dont want to stay any place beside my home resort, and if i cant do that then i guess i cant go:(

I have no doubt once the dancing starts I'm going to hear "Dad...see you back at the room" :)

I hate to say this, but this homecoming thing seems to be poorly thought out by the powers to be. A lot of members never got the invite, those who did got them way to late to use their points at least at the 11 month window, most of all I think this is just one way to get you over to SSR for look and sale, and you are paying for it. It sounds to me like a couple of e-nights and a meal somewhere, and a presentation at Saratoga Springs. All for $300 per person, I hope you get some great gifts.

My entire entourage will be DD's ages 18 and 21, DD's boyfriend, also 21, our 23 year old DS and the old fogeys, DH and myself.

How about we have them all wear lime green T-shirts?? (Fat chance of that ever happening.)

We can't wait!

We've been DVC members for over ten years. I don't think we ever made reservations 11 months out. I can barely tell youwhat I am doing tomorrow let alone in 11 months :). I realize many of you do need to make reservations 11 months out, but for us learning about the May MH in December wasn't a problem for us.

I voted "not attending" based on monetary amount, but that's not the only reason. True, we just can't justify the $'s for this one, but also the timing is bad. We usually have no problems taking the kids out of school for our yearly vacation, but this is right around final exam time and end of track season for my son. So there are really two reasons we have for not attending the Homecoming.

We're going. We have plans to go in early May and actually had AKL concierge booked on points. We have had to change our travel plans slightly (the good news we were driving all along so really just changed the plans we had for coming back). We already have AP's so were able to book the lower priced package. We were also able to change our reservation from AKL to OKW and get the additional points back with no problem at all.

Like DVCReg we were on the Member Cruise and remember what a fantastic time we had. It seems like a number of people who went on the Member Cruise are coming to Homecoming and I can't wait to see them all again.

Disney and DVC do know how to throw a great party!

I have to admit that when I first saw this, I thought it was very expensive! One of the reasons is that I thought they were charging $299.00 per event per person! (X 3 events :earseek:)

I thought it would be a cool deal, but there was no way I could afford that.
And, my DS could not get out of school, anyway.
And, we were planning to take a trip to WDW on 28-31 May and I figured it wouldn't make much sense for me to go by myself fly home and then turn around and come back with the family....

And then, I read closer (on this board) and realized that the price was $299.00 for all 3 events! (And you all managed to get DVC to reduce the price for APer's, too! :) ) So, then it was $249. Well, it was starting to look like a bargin to me. (Especially since I just paid $125 for a 1 night event at the MK in February.)

So, I came up with a plan "B". I could go to WDW early (on the 25th) and go to the three day party and then my family could fly down and join me for the weekend.

I can't wait!
