Has anyone attended the free Member Event Art Class at Disneyland? We are signed up for a date in late August ... just wanted some feedback? Where is the balance between "sales event" and "member event, art class"? Does it tip even slightly in favor of the art class?

Info from the DVC page of Member Events for Disneyland area:

I attended one of the July dates. It was very low key on the sales aspect. One of the guides started with a welcome and maybe 2-3 minutes on the new VDH and the theming being around Disney animation, then introduced Stacia. Stacia walked us through a few character drawings (all supplies provided).

At the end, a guide came up and had another couple of minutes on buying VDH, but it was very low key - ie they have some incentives, a board in the back with available Timeslots for that afternoon and the following day, and a few guides at the back to answer questions. That was it, definitely a lot more Stacia than sales. They also had some water & snacks.

It went just over 90 minutes, with time left over for sales chats for those who wanted to do so.

I definitely felt it was worth it! Stacia is always great, as she shares a lot of Disney history while she draws and takes people through drawing along with her.

We attended the event today and it was definitely worth it. Stacia was great and even walked around to compliment the "artists" on our work and give some tips.

Some of this was covered by @Mathmagicland but here was our experience.

We arrived shortly before 2. They had some snacks available outside (assorted fruits, cheeses, cookies, lemonade, iced tea, and water. It actually didn't start until around 2:20 with a quick DVC sales intro. Then the drawing that went until around 3:30 and then a very quick sales pitch. The drawing seemed to get rushed as we went along so I wonder if Stacia was directed to finish at 3:30 to give time for sales talk and starting 20 minutes late put her behind.

Afterwards you could stick around to talk sales with the guides that were available or just leave. There was also someone making balloon animals at the end, with a handful of Disney options, which the kids enjoyed.

Sorry, forgot to mention one other thing if you're staying at VGC. If you're short on time or just don't feel like walking both ways, you can set up a tour of the Aulani DVC model that's at DLH for right before the event. They should take you over in a golf cart. We were planning on checking the model out anyway so it worked out perfectly for us.

Went yesterday -- this event was OUTSTANDING!! Stacia led us through four character drawings and shared a non-stop stream of trivia games, movie/character history and more. This was a blast!

Thank you, DVC!!
