What is the big deal about the member cruise? I am new to DVC and have never been on the DCL. I just received my invite in the mail yesterday for the cruise. Can you provide some feedback on it. We will have enough points. Is it worth it?

I haven't received the invite in the mail yet & it doesn't appear that the DVC website is updated - what are the points/costs this year?

If you don't want to spend four days on a ship full of Disney nuts, don't go. Due to the time of year, there are few school age children. There are very few smokers. You will be surrounded by veteran DVC members who can answer just about any question about Disney and the DVC. :love1:

I got the mailing. Went to the website. As of today there are no point charts or pricing
While I was really disappointed to miss the last one, this one is not thrilling me...No port call, no spa.....If the cost is high I will skip this one.

I would go to CC twice in a hearbeat, but it's in the middle of my term and so, we can't make it. I'm surprised that there are no point schedules available yet. Maybe that's what the member service training day is about next Friday.

Things went so smoothly on board. People were even friendlier than on a "regular" cruise, we've been on 15 cruises, a variety of lines, but the '05 Members Cruise was our friendliest cruise ever. I learned lots of interesting tidbits about Disney. I could pass on most of the gifts, but I know lots of people don't agree with me on that. I'm not a collector.

Just talked with MS tonight.

Points due out soon, but I got the following info

Cat 3 355 points or $2056 cash
Cat 4 231 $1580
Cat 5 200 $1370

Extra adult in room 87 or $698

That's all the info I have

We've been talking about this over on the cruise meets board. Here is what one of the members found.

Please see this new update today:
Please Note that on 11/15/2005 Member servicec no longer has this information and it is only a guide to my best guess. It will not be official until posted on their website, and will probably change.

Are kids welcome to come?? I know that we would have to bring our 2 boys as finding family to watch them is like pulling teeth.

And are those prices for 2 adults? Or just one adult??

I wish the info on the website is up, I have lots of questions!

The prices listed are per person. The first two people in each cabin are booked at the adult rate even in they aren't an adult.

WOW!!! So if hubby and I wanted to do a catergory 3 it would be 710 points or $5100!!!!???? Holy crap that is a lot!!!

Do you have to dress up alot?

If you have no kids is the early or late dining better?

We went this year and didn't have kids with us. We had early dining but haven't decided which one we'll request if we get in this time. Early seating was good because it gave us time after dinner to do other things, The later seating means you don't have to leave whatever activity you are doing in the afternoon to get ready for early dinner.

As for dressing up, DH only wore a suit and tie one night at dinner. The other nights he wore a button down shirt with khakis. I wore a dress or dress pants to dinner. Hope this is helpful. We didn't eat at Palo but I believe you are required to "dress up" if you eat there. Annmarie

For those of you planning on going - just us over on the cruise meets board. We have a thread already started (Robin started it the day the cruise was announced onboard SSMC05).

Hi I've heard that there are not that many children on the member cruise, is that right ? We want to take our 2 DS's and want to make sure that they'll have good company...............we're desperate to go!

I've mentioned this before, but does anyone else get a little irritated that Disney is charging so much for a cruise that basically goes nowhere? With the itinery offered, and the spa under reburbishment...I would think less points would be required. For the members that went last time, do you really receive enough perks onboard (gifts, special entertainment, etc.) to justify the cost? I really want to go, but just can't lose the thought that Disney is taking advantage of our loyalty. Help me see the light! :sunny:

There will be children and the ones that went on the last Member Cruise had a great time. The difference is that instead of the 800-1000 kids on a normal cruise the Member Cruise had about 400. The pools weren't as crowded and from what I heard the kids had a blast in the clubs.
