Member Cruise

I'm looking for itinerary details and not finding them. Is it:
Sunday departure
Monday Castaway Cay
Tuesday Cruising slowly in a circle
Wednesday Castaway Cay
Thursday Port Canaveral

Wondering just how popular this will be -- not sensing a lot of buzz about this on the boards.

So tempted by this cruise, largely because we were already planning on heading to WDW at that time of year anyway. I like the fact that we could go with our daughter without pulling her out of school. Two stops at Castaway Cay are a big plus, as well.

So some questions:
1. I can see the costs in points and cash. But is it worth it for the experience?

2. I also notice on the member website that it says some stateroom categories disappear quickly -- any idea which are the most popular?

3. And finally, while it is a DVC charter as a previous poster noted, does the cruise count towards our Castaway Club total?

Many thanks!

1. It depends on what you think of the selling points...a ship full of DVC enthusiasts, gifts in your stateroom every night, and special appearances by celebrities, some with special ties to Disney.

2. I think the lower priced rooms go the fastest. The Dream has the Magic Porthole, so inside cabin experience is special, IMO! I and my group were late booking for the January 2013 MC....I hesitate to even say what we each paid for the 3 night cruise, but DSis & Dcuz really wanted to go. We got a fabulous aft veranda cabin, but definitely pricier than I really wanted to pay. All 3 of us were happy with the experience.

3. Yes!

You can't compare a discounted, off- season cruise to this one from a pricing perspective. The most fair comparison is the Aug. 17th 4 nt cruise. Of you price that against this, the pricing is very similar.

The last one to sell out was the 2011 Member Cruise. Many categories will sell on 11/3, but there will probably be staterooms still available once the first booking day is over.

Making sure I understand the points and rates correctly...

We're a family of 3 (13 yo), looking at the 5e category. Booking on points would be 511 points vs the cash total of $3,700. But if I rented my points at $13 point (which I have before), it would only take me renting/using 277 points.

What am I missing, besides the usual risks/downsides of renting points. Do any of the people have to book with points?

Not sure. But it makes more sense to pay cash

This is True… I plan on Booking this cruise in Cat 4A and its only 200.00 more for 5 of us than the August 17th sailing.

I am thinking of going on this! I've asked a friend if she wants to join me, but if she says no, I'll ask my husband. He's not really into DVC as I am.

This maybe a dumb question but I want to make sure I understand the cash pricing. Is the cash price listed per person? So for two people to stay in a 6B it would be 2x1400=$2800? I don't think we'll be able to make it for this cruise, but I do want to try to save up for a future member cruise as well as buy points for VGF so I would actually be eligible for a member cruise.

Yes, you are correct about pricing.
