We're very excited and planning to go on the Member Cruise. Just need to iron out a few logistics, and we should be good to go by 8/24 when we can book it.

Planning this cruise has been just the thing to give DD something to smile about since she's spent the last month recovering from mono.

After our Christmas/NYE trip, I can't think of a better way to relax.

Who else is planning on going?

From the looks of things here on the DIS, you might just be cruising solo Regina. :earseek:

Regina, I would love to go. But I can't see paying extra points over the normal value season rate for an extra day at Castaway Cay. If they had a second day at a different port (Key West for example), then I would seriously look at doing it.

What are the points for adults/children? I went to the site but the link is down. It opens a blank window.

Thanks.

Mikebarr, I thought the same thing. It takes quite awhile for the info to appear, but it does eventually. Just minimize and keep checking back. You'll get the point chart.

Would we have to use our points or is there a "discounted" rate to pay for this cruise?
Is the entire cruise dedicated to DVC?

Hey Regina, we're still in the running. We were certainly hoping for a special deal, but we're not mad or upset at the rates, it IS a charter, they've gotta cover their expenses, but now that we know that it's not a too good to pass up deal, we have to consider our budget and decide if it's worth the money. We are tapped out of points until after June 1. Too many really nice accommodations in the Concierge Collection this past year
So we're a cash customer. The cash price comparison is comparable to the Castaway Cay Club quote the DCL website gave me for the week following. The $75 transaction fee puts it a little over. Now could I get a better price than that with a TA on the 2/9 cruise, probably, but it wouldn't be the DVC member cruise with you. :earsgirl: So, now we assess our financial state of mind and decide if hubby and I are worth the expense ;) The kids are in school, this would be an anniversary, valentine, birthday get-away celebration. Can you say couples cabana massage, surial bath and wine tasting! :bounce:  :earseek: :bounce:

Regina, we can't wait! It should be a lot of fun! I just have to make sure that DD understands that she won't actually meet Sebastian and Ariel if she jumps over the side!

I hope that DVC plans some fun activities for us!

See you at the pool!
:bounce:

I think you will see many of were excited by the prospect but then were disenchanted by the increase in points over other value cruise time periods. I feel that they are taking advantage of the DVC member, but if you are going I hope it is the most special trip you have every had with Disney.

Hmmmm......maybe there will be very limited edition pins and/or special guests that will make the extra cost worth it! I guess one can always hope!

We may be joining you DVC'er's. I was initially shocked that the pts were more than value season but now that I've gotten over the initial shock I'm sitting here w/ my guidebook, calculator and a BIG pad of paper trying to decide which cabin to go w/. I'm about 95% sure now that we will do it but am secretly glad that I have another week to think about it and of course to get more reactions off these wonderful boards. I'm really hoping that this is a "special" cruise in that there are many "extras" including activities etc. on this boat. DH is not a big help, he just replys you take care of the pts do whatever you think as long as I get at least one week at the Boardwalk next October. Feel as though I'll be loosing alot of sleep over the next few days but w/ so many options it won't be the first time and certainly not the last. ;)

We'll be going. We've had to juggle some plans for next year but this cruise sounds like a lot of fun (I love Castaway Cay). Sure the points are a little higher, but spending time with my DH is worth it!

I am hoping to convince Jim to go (just the 2 of us this time) because TWO days at Castaway Cay is just too tempting for me! I am not all that upset about the points, business is business and if I don't want to go, I don't have to. :)
Hopefully I will have him pinned down by tomorrow Reg! ;)
CC

I would love to go on this one! We will see.... :) :)

This a great country...you can choose to pay more for pretty much the same thing that others can get at a time convenient to them for less cost. This is what makes having the choice to use your points as you see fit so great.

Please go back to the boycott thread , baileybrad. :(

We are going to go for it, sure it's more points than the normal, as we know it'll be a special cruise it's worth it! :teeth:

It is just my opinion, but I don't see how DVC treating its members poorly is special.:(

But, I hope all of you have a great time. We will probably cruise another time, when it is cheaper. That is the nice part, we can all decide for ourselves.

Although I really and truely want to go, I don't think I can rationalize $225 more for an adult in a Cat 10. (Based on on-line quote for week before) Two days at CC is so enticing. I would love the chance to cruise with Reg and Carol.

Maybe if I can talk DH out of HH next summer, we would have enough points to do the whole thing on points and cash would not be an issue

Regina....for you this cruise may be even more costly than most. If memory serves me correctly, don't you tend to come home from cruises having bought some more points along the way (or at least talking DH into them)? ;)
