Member Cruise, Who's joining me?

We are working on it - and since I just luv my DVC - I'm hoping to join my fellow DIS DVCers there - will let you know - wonder if it wil be tough to get thru Member Services. Hmmmmm:cool:

Gosh.....I've been posting all night about this cruise on several threads. I'm a little peeved at all the gloom and doom being said by some posters about his cruise:( dh and I went on the DVC 10th Anniversary Cruise in April and it was fantastic!! I sure wish we could go again in February. If this cruise is anything like the first one, then it will be "SPECIAL". They gave us a lot of freebies/receptions on the first cruise but by far the best part was just being able to vacation with other DVCers. We were all begging for another cruise at the end of the cruise. It was clear that alot of members wanted another cruise with more time at Castaway Cay. It appears to me that DVC responded to these requests. ALSO.....although our points cost at that time was lower I do not feel the increase is unfair when you consider you will have the ship to yourselves plus 2 days at Castaway Cay!! I sure wish we could have done this in April versus the day at Freeport. I think you will be pleased with your decision to go. Have fun :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

As noted, think it's too many points but hope those that get to go will have a great time. The interesting thing to me was the inclusion of category 3, albeit at a very high points cost.

Hi Harriett!
It's so nice to hear from someone who experienced the first member cruise.

I remember wishing that we had gone on it. We got the postcard after it was sold out. We never expected it to be gone that quickly.

This time around, I'll be on the phone at 9:00am sharp. I'm not going to miss out on this one.

Two days at Castaway!!! I'm there!

Good for you Regina! I am so jealous. We are currently point poor plus February is not a good month for us. However, I will be there in spirit. BTW......if you go on the cruise, you may be surprised at the number of members who use their points just for cruises! We met alot of members in April who strictly used their pts for cruising. Maybe the next DVC resort should be a DVC ship:D

Dean... I find the Cat 3 option interesting as well..... 283 points.... YIKES.

ANyone know the cash price for that room????

I don't know how much the category 3 is for cash, but it's always $$$$$$. It's the 1 bedroom suite that includes Concierge service.

Friends of ours had this accommodation last year. It was spectacular.

Just for fun, later I am going to check into the cost..... it is always nice to dream!!!

Wish we could. I keep leaving the card if front of DH, hoping he'll weaken. ;) ;) But I'm afraid we have too many other irons in the fire right now. :(

Sounds like we are getting a little group together. We need to do a few mini-meets. Maybe a little Sail-Away party on Deck 10 when we leave Port Canaveral???

As soon as DH and I were notified, DH looked at me and said "What's it worth to you to have two days at CC?" My answer: "PRICELESS". We don't care about the additional points. I can't think of anywhere else I would rather be for two whole days!

We've already decided that this will be a trip for just the two of us, our two wonderful kids (16 & 8) will be staying at home with Granny (we are so lucky to have an option like this).

Can't wait to meet some of our fellow DVCers. Knowing DVC, this will be something we will all remember the rest of our lives.

We're out - points poor and cash poor right now - got the vacation in the works already for next July (cruise and WDW). Don't see how "special" it is to pay extra for the cruise and don't see how some post'rs feel they will have the ship "to themselves" when they're worried about getting through on Saturday for ressies. Sounds like DCL & DVC feel DVC'rs will pay more than the average cruiser for the same product  . I'd be curious to find out myself so I'll check availability in a month. Anyway, wishing you all happy cruising :) .

We were on the Oct. 6 cruise that was routed to San Juan, PR instead of St. Maarten due to a tropical storm and hurricane.

To make up for this, the captain decided to go to Castaway Cay twice--on the first day of the cruise and the last day--it was awesome! Everyone was extremely pleased about the additional day at Castaway. Even though we've 'been there, done that', we look forward to doing it again.

M*M :D

Will not be going...for 3 reasons:

Will have just returned from a 7 day at the end of Dec (celebrating DW's "39th" birthday over New years day)

Will be going to OKW in April

Eliminating those two from the equation, would still likely not go as I have no desire to spend 2 days at Castaway Cay (snore!). Don't see the value for the points be charged.

If the itinerary were different (day at sea, different port) and was not already cruising or going to WDW, I might have considered.

Isn't it funny dmadman, one of the reasons that you don't want to go is one of the reasons that we do.

We'll be at OKW from 12/22 to 1/4. We think the cruise will be just the thing to relax following up a hectic holiday trip. That little slice of heaven, Castaway Cay, is the perfect destination for us.

By this time next week, I hope that everyone who is planning on going is asking "which stateroom did you get?:)"

We might of thought about it, but we already have airline tx, for OKW Feb14-20(President's WK).And my wife is a teacher and it would be hard to explain to her Principal how she would need another 4 days off(Cruise).........after taking 3 day off during President's week ;).

Ozo now informed me he it toying with doing this cruise.... mainly because of the Cat 3 availibity on points.... 283 is high, so we are thinking long and hard..... so far our thoughts are, 1 adult points, 1 adult cash.... kids on points.... maybe.... lol

I am nervous about securing ressies for the Cat 3.... I see that there are only 12 (ish) on the whole ship..... dont know how many other DVCrs will be going for them........ despite the points......

Oh did I mention Feb 5th is Ozo and I's wedding aniversary?

Something tells me, we are cruising.

Laurabearz,

What a great way to spend your anniversary:D When you call MS, please mention that it will be your anniversary. The same is true for anyone who has a birthday too. You will get something special at dinner one night.:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Laurabearz! It sounds like you've gotten used to a little more luxury after your Concierge Collection Plaza stay. (I'm still waiting for that trip report.)

A category 3 sounds like a great way to celebrate an anniversary!!!

From the looks of things, maybe we should start a new thread entitled: Are there any DVCER's who were NOT married in February?;) :p
