Member Cruise Questions

I've done the Member Cruises back in '05 & '06 and they were a blast! Haven't been able to go in recent years because it always was during school. But, this time, Alaska is happening just after we get out of school.

One question - does anyone know if I can book my DH and I, and then add my daughters in a couple of months? I know that you used to be able to do that (based on availability of child ratios in the clubs, but my girls are older now, so I don't know that it'll be as big of a deal).

It would just be easier to swing the extra cash for right now. Obviously, I'd need to make sure to tell the rep that I need to get a cabin that sleeps 4.

Any changes would require a $95 fee. Also there is a limit on number of people in the life boats, so I do not think it be OK even if you booked a cabin that sleeps 4 right at the start. I would call DVC and ask.

Forgot about the lifeboats. I know that people have done it in the past, so I was just thinking that it might be easier on my wallet.

Also...and I may be wrong on this...prices are based on double occupancy. Adding the kids later may mean paying the full price for them instead of the lower price for the 3rd/4th passenger at initial booking (if that makes sense?)

As long as you add the kids to the same stateroom, they would be charged at the 3rd/4th passenger rate. The issue, as Bobbiwoz stated, would be lifeboat capacity.

The price would be the same no matter when she would add them. I'm going on the EBTA next year and the prices on that cruise have gone crazy high. But since I booked through DVC they told me the prices are negotiated and won't change for adding people or changing my cabin. Prices will be the same as they were the first day I called. I would assume the Member Cruise would be the same way.

We're on the EBTA and yes, the price has gone crazy high. My DSis hoped to join us, but 2 days after we booked prices rose. She hopes for a GTY rate in January or so. That's when she booked the WBPC cruise with a pretty good rate for this year.

That's good to know about the DVC cash price. When we look to book our next long cruise, I am thinking of booking 1 on cash and 1 on points.

Looking forward to meeting you on the EBTA!

Bobbi:)

I know that you have to purchase direct to use points for any Disney cruises, but can you pay cash to go on a MC if you purchased resale?

Since the resale restrictions started you have to own at least 25 qualified points which means either purchased direct or purchased resale prior to the restrictions to go on a member cruise even paying cash. I haven't looked to see if they have the same condition this year but it's been that way the past couple of years.

In the past, you had to have either purchased direct or purchased resale prior to March 21, 2011 to be eligible to sign up for the Member Cruise (cash or points).

The only info I could find on the website stated that if you purchased resale after the restrictions, you could not use points to "pay for" the cruise. That's what had me wondering if you could pay cash since you are technically a member.

Regardless of payment method (cash or points), the Member Cruise is part of the Disney Collection which is why you can't book if you only have resale points purchased after 3/21/2011.

Looking forward to meeting you too!!

We've done only one Disney cruise, and it was the members cruise last Fall. It was very nice, and we're considering the Alaska cruise for next Spring. Might not be the most economical use of points, but that's not a huge issue. We'll be on a beautiful vessel surrounded by Disney quality entertainment with little or no cash out of pocket. Works for us:earsboy:

A few other questions:

1) Do the prices include taxes, fees, and gratuities? I can't find on the Member site where it specifies that.

2) Does Disney offer transfers to/from Seattle?

3) Do the Member Cruises usually sell out on the first day?

4) Do we have to pay the $95 Disney Collection exchange fee?

This one is nice because for us Southerners, we get out of school on May 22, so this doesn't conflict with school like the one in August does (we usually start back around August 7-14)...

1) Do the prices include taxes, fees, and gratuities?
Yes
2) Does Disney offer transfers to/from Seattle?
Unknown
3) Do the Member Cruises usually sell out on the first day?
Yes. Since they are booking both 2015 Member Cruises on the same day, they may not sell out one or the other on booking day this year.
4) Do we have to pay the $95 Disney Collection exchange fee?
The initial $95 transaction fee is waived.

I have a question for anyone who has been on other member cruises and had a room at Concierge level...since gratuities are paid for with the booking does that include tips to the Concierge staff? I am thinking about trying to get it on one of next years MC offerings.

We just returned from the Disney Alaska 9 night. We took the Quick Shuttle from the cruise terminal to SeaTac. It also stopped in Bellingham and in town in Seattle. To SeaTac it was 59 each and painless. You do need to reserve ahead but also easy. Just did it online.

That takes you to & from the Vancouver cruise terminal? Is it $59 per person each way? How long does it take?
