Stay away from the pools, as it can get quite busy/crazy. There is so much to do, especially with special guests, you won't believe how fast the time flies!
Agree with lodge. On sea days pools are crazy. There are plenty of activities to keep you more than busy. Depending on who the special guest are will determine the workshops. For example we had Bill Farmer the voice of Goofy do "How to voice an animated character." and filmmaker Don Hahn, who produced Beauty and the Beast and Lion King do "Why we Create" Both were very entertaining. Tons of other activities for both adults and kids. There tends to be less kids on a member cruise but being it's in August this year that may be different.
DW and I were on a regular cruise this September and stayed on the ship on Castaway Cay day and had the pool to ourselves. One of the ship officers came by and commented, "Your own private yacht" DH and I looked at each other and said, "Oh yeah". Had unlimited access to the "Aquaduct" and Spa. What a day.

Absolutely true, we usually schedule a brunch at either Remy or Palo's. Depending on special guest seminar scheduling, we also try to hit the Rain Forest.
Lately they have not been good about doing this at all. For 2005, we would get e-mail updates throughout the year while we waited for the cruise. For January 2013, no e-mails and really very little information. IF it weren't for the MC that was 4 days in 2012, we wouldn't have had an idea of what was to come. However, many of the same activities, like customizing the vinylmation, and seeing Stacia Martin are just some of the same things we had. We got the DVC Monopoly and some other gifts as well. I do think DVC used to do a better job keeping us excited beforehand!
