I just got the new Members Clubhouse and read about the new incentive. Am I crazy?? Is thhis how the insanity starts?? I haven't even closed yet, haven't made my first DVC trip yet, and already I'm thinking I don't have enough points. :rolleyes1
I've been thinking 150 isn't enough anyway, but do they ever offer incentives for a small add on? The extra 120 sounds like a lot, but 50 for now might be great.
Someone talk some sense into me :rotfl:

Well, considering I just read that to DH and he said, "Great - let's buy some!" - I can't say I'm much help.

What do you all think of this incentive? Does it rate better or worse than others offered recently? I haven't paid too much attention to other incentives since we *thought* we were happy with 200 points! :teeth:

It's a pretty good incentive - key to note is that it's a minimum of 120 points....

A few other tidbits from the "Clubhouse".

- "Saratoga Lake" is the official name of the lake by The Springs and The Paddock.

- DTD McDonalds is offering a 20% DVC discount on lunch or dinner Extra Value Meals.

- "The Love Bug" opened on March 13, 1969. It was highest grossing move of the year.

- They're still doing hurricane repair on VB, and will continue through the summer.

the 'insanity' really begins when you find yourself collecting returnables, postage stamps and $2 rebate checks to use towards your next point purchase!!!! ;););)

Athena,

Your not insane, :confused3 Just a typical DVC'er. When we bought at VWL with 200 pts. I thought that would be way to many pts. and never use them all. Well after figuring how many trips I wanted to make and the size of the accomodations. We added on another 50 pts. This was before we even set foot in a DVC resort. Never took the tour. Since then, I've always been in the negative, borrowing pts from the next year.

Well along came SSR, we stayed a few days there during Hurricane Francis and loved  our experience and added on with 130 pts more. :cheer2: But we are still running in the negs. But it will have to do until VWL is paid off. Less than two yrs to go.

You can't go wrong, it's a Disney thing.

Go luck

Thanks for the reassurance!
I'm going to take some time to think about it. I do really want to add on, but I think I want to start small. The 120 points sounds great, but I keep seeing the total cost in my head and it makes me dizzy. I'll keep thinking about it, and maybe some time they'll do some kind of incentive for a smaller add on if I'm not ready for a bigger one in the meantime.

Well, we called our guide today and took advantage of the new incentive. How could we not???? :sunny: Even though we bank points every year, we couldn't pass up this offer! I think we can now stay a Friday or Saturday and still have points left over to bank! That is what sold my DH. We shlepted to the All-stars for two nights (I mean that in the nicest way - the resort was fine, but moving two adults, a 3+ year old, an 11 month old, and ALL of the goodies that come with them - 1 before and 1 after the week at OKW) was tough. My DH said never again. He wants to be able to spent a full week at a DVC resort. Plus, we like to bring relatives and friends, so the extra points will help out!
Here's how I look at it, life is short and if you enjoy something, do it. If you really like to visit WDW and buying extra points won't put a strain on your finances, do it. We had a few deaths happen to friends this past weekend, and it really made me & my DH think about what we enjoy -- Spending time at WDW with our family and friends!

P.S. Have you visited the Grand Villa at SSR--- all I can say is it's :cloud9: That definitely started my DH thinking!!!

I guess the thing that surprised me the most about this Member Clubhouse was that it appears we have a new guide. At the top of the email was the Welcome Home with the words "Your vacation guide is Kathy Rader." Mayra Ramirez has been our guide since we joined in 2001. Anyone know anything about Kathy?

The extra 100 points with a 120 point add on is a one time shot, correct?

Mayra has left DVC. She was our guide too, but now we have a new one too.

Thanks for the heads up! We haven't had time to read our Member Clubhouse yet but Mayra was our guide as well. She never did anything for us after purchasing so I guess it really doesn't matter who our guide is but it would be nice to know something about our new guide (assuming it is Kathy as well).

This is so frustrating. I would love to do an add on through Disney, but I can't from Washington! I would love to add on 130 points to round off my total. Disney should get licensed in my state!! Anyone else having this trouble? :(

Ok, I finally had a chance to look at the Member Clubhouse and our new guide is Bill Fuqua. Does anyone else have Bill?

I can't talk sense into you because I succombed to the same add-on-itis bug and entered a second contract before the first had closed.

I'm still drooling for more...

When does it stop??
