How about an update where we drink alot? Ok. I can do that.
After our 2 hour return trip to the BWVs we all managed to get showered and cleaned up. The boys had plans to play video games and maybe go rent a movie at the Community building. They ended up watching TWO. I think they watched National Treasure 2, but cant recall the other.
I think Ive neglected to talk about the C.B. Its pretty cool for the kids. They are a smallish building out by the quiet pool. They rent pool noodles, board games, hula hoops, jump ropes, dvds and other things. They have video games to play there and also table tennis and air hockey games. The boys enjoyed hanging out there and it was literally right outside our door. The entire trip we pretty much let them go there and back without us because it was so safe. SD just had instructions to call us if he was leaving the room and then when they got back. It worked out great.
Bob and I got gussied up and decided that our first stop would be the Bellevue room (which is a bar) located near the lobby. We have to pass this spot to go to the Boardwalk area so its not a big detour. The bar is sort of tucked off to the side. You can sit at the bar or at the tables and chairs scattered through the area. The only downside I can think of to this spot is that it seems to attract families with children. Now, I realize its Disney. I realize that people are here with their kids. I know, I know! But, that doesnt mean that you have to bring them to the bar! But, sadly, people do.
Bob and I ordered our first drinks. A raspberry champagne for Mel. And a delicious 12 year Oban (Scotch) Whiskey. The bartender, Allen, was really sweet and told us about how hes worked for Disney for 20+ years!
We sat and enjoyed our first cocktails and talked about what we would do the next day. Our schedule included two days at Vero, though not consecutive days. We discussed not returning to Vero and offering the kids a visit to Blizzard Beach or back to Typhoon Lagoon instead. Though Bob enjoyed Vero more than I did, he still agreed that we didnt need to go back!
The next round of drinks was a delicious Reisling for Mel and an icy beer for Bob!
We had to explain to Allen why we were taking photos of our drinks. He was shocked to hear that there was an entire group of people online who do Trip Reports and take photos of their food and drinks! I couldnt believe no one else had ever mentioned this to Allen! I told him to look up the Disboards and search for his name or Bellevue Room. Hed be surprised!!
It was getting late so we decided to take a walk out to the Boardwalk to see what was going on. I think it was around 10 pm because I recall stopping at the surrey bike rental place and they said the last rental was at 10 pm. No dice for us! This evening was SO humid and hot. I think that it was the most uncomfortable weather of the whole trip. We meandered down the boardwalk and people watched for a bit.
Since the loud music, loud people and cigarette smoke coming from Jellyrolls didnt appeal to us, we decided to try to find some food over in Epcot. The fish and chip stand in the UK is probably my favorite counter service in THE WORLD so I was pretty happy.
Bob does NOT like fish and chips. He was sweet enough to watch me eat mine. While I munched on my yummy food, he made a trip inside to the bar for drinks.
He returned with a Bass Ale for himself and a Strongbow Cider for me. YUMMY!!!
When Bob returned with the drinks, there was something GLOWING on the cup! I didnt know immediately what it was, but as he came closer I could see. Thats Tinkerbell!!!!! The ladies at the table next to us were so jealous! One girl said to her husband, Why didnt you BUY me ONE of those!? Poor Guy! He didnt know Bob!
Bob had been looking for this Tinkerbell ALL week for me. He knows I love her. He went inside to the bar at the Rose and Crown for his drinks and happened to spy some little girl with one on her glass. He asked the bartender for one but she put up a fight. She said that you have to order a kids glow drink. Bob said, Ill pay whatever you want me to, but I need one for a very special lady. Awwwww, Bob. He is the most romantic husband ever. I heart Bob. Here is Tink in all her glowy (and non-glowy) glory.
Fearing that the ladies next to us might try to STEAL Bob or Tink from me, I told Bob we should go find him some food. We grabbed our drinks (this would be the NEXT round that Bob had purchased) and made our way back towards the gate (to BWV) And, of course, we remembered as we came down to the gate that they DONT LIKE YOU TO TAKE BOOZE THROUGH THE GATE.
So, I broke the law
again. Luckily I had a sweater over my arm. This is getting to be a habit....
This was HSs late EMH night so we walked back to the dock on the Boardwalk and took the boat across to the Studios. We rode with a sweet teenaged couple. The boy was so polite and he asked us what our favorite park was and other questions. They were going back to HS to ride ToT. They had ridden it over 20 times so far that day! Crazy kids! They were SO cute. Reminded me of us when we first started dating....
So, we exited the boat and made it into the park to find it COMPLETELY packed! Im talking shoulder to shoulder crowds. Really, the WORST Ive ever seen it. Bob was starving by this time and I remembered a trick Id heard someone mention on the DIS once. They said that if the lines were skeeery long at the CS places and you didnt have an ADR for any TS places, you could walk into the 50s Prime Time and sit at the bar and eat the same food as in the restaurant!!! Bob was all for it!
Our bartender was named Mario. He was very nice. I had already had my dinner in the UK, but Bob was nice enough to order onion rings for me. Yum. I didnt order a drink here, the others were catching up to me....
Bob had fried chicken, mashed potatoes and a cold beer. He wasnt impressed with the food but the service was AWESOME. Well definitely remember this next time and just get drinks and appetizers.
On the way out of here we noticed this:
That is a ceramic poodle. Its quite possibly the UGLIEST thing Ive ever seen but heres the funny part. Bobs mom has one EXACTLY like it. NO kidding!! If Im lying, Im dying.
We got a good laugh out of that. We decided to try for some rides. This is where the evening becomes less fun. I dont know if it was just that it was getting late, or the crowds or the extreme heat and humidity but we both just pooped out. We got grumpy. And we could NOT get on a single ride. We went and waited for almost an hour for TSM. The line didnt move in the whole hour. It was awful. Then we tried RnRC. Nope. Over a hour wait on the sign but you know that for some reason, when it says that at RnRC, its WAY more. So, we ended up on ToT. The wait there was for only 45 mins. I have never ridden this in the dark. It is way more scary in the dark. I loved it. After our one ride on ToT, we decided that was enough fun for tonight and went to wait for the boat back to BWV.
Shot this as we left...
We left the park at 11:45 pm. We arrived back at our room at 1 am. The boats are SLOW....
We tucked in and slept like babies. Well, babies who snore and get up to pee alot.
Tomorrow Bob is taking SD to do the Segway tour at Epcot. And you guys are SO lucky because BOB is typing the update for that one, not me!

So, you may have to be patient for a few days because Bob is very busy lately. He promises that youll have your update though.
