Mel's Pre-trip Report: Interactive Version

OHANA->

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!Def worth going to! We have done it twice and it's a lot of fun and the food is good standard food. The juice is to die for! The characters are always awesome, we get great shots there.

Missing from the pic is the fresh pineapple and the rest of the yummy potatoes we ate real fast.

BWV Pool-->

We loved it! That slide is so much fun! It's just circling around, nothing too crazy. We swam twice this past trip and had a good time there for sure. If u need to get life jackets or noodles its kind of a pain because you have to go to the lounge building or whatever its called and have to sign them out. Othrwise the pool bar is neat and the area is beautiful.

Don't forget to look for mom:thumbsup2

You know your kids best. If they have a cell phone to be able to call you in case something happened, I don't think I would have a problem with it:confused3

I will definitely look for mom! Thanks for the pic (looks so good, my tummy growled!) And for the advice. I know them, and I trust them. They are very responsible.[/COLO

Very Helpful! I plan on bringing pool paraphanelia with me as we're driving down...maybe that will help! Thanks again!

Hello Everyone! We have arrived at the next stop on Mel's Interactive WONDERLAND tour... Yes, that means you get to spout off, er..I mean tell me your opinions about what we've got planned. You don't like the food choices? Well, speak up. :listen: We must hear you!! ::yes::

Today's Update is Day Three in the schedule. Whoooooo!!! Can I get a "Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!?" :jumping1:

This day will start fairly early. This is not by MY choice. I prefer to SLEEP on my vacations. But, unfortunately, this is the day that we are going to a water park. What water park? Well, we don't know. Gus is very set on Blizzard Beach after reading about it in the "disney book" and Goofy is ambivilant. That's unfortunate as he's the one who's supposed to chose. :sad2: I personally don't care either way. I don't like water slides, or getting water up my nose. I also burn to a crisp in the sun (yes, even with sunblock) and after my experience in WDW with Gus last Sept. (that's HERE for those of you who HAVEN'T read it) I am not sure I WANT to be out in the sun for that long. Anyway, feel free to state your case about which park as I am completely open to your suggestions. And, if one or the other happens to have a good SHADY area, LET ME KNOW!!! :sunny:

The water park experience is due to wrap up sometime in the early afternoon, or whenever ALL my skin has burnt and peeled. :furious:

Our afternoon will stay open and unplanned as I'm sure that we'll all be tired, hot and need showers. We have an ADR at Narcoosee's (at the GF) for all four of us at 7:30 pm. I am REALLY looking forward to this. The food is amazing and the service is really, really good. Gus and I went there on his trip in Sept. (again, see link above....) After dinner, we plan to take the boat launch, which is VERY conveniently located RIGHT NEAR Narcoosee's, over to the Poly to get Lapu's for the adults and then sit on the sandy beach and watch the fireworks at the MK. They are due to start at about 10 pm that night, so hopefully we can pull that off. I actually looked into walking to the Poly as the boats are sometimes VERY slow, but the path is long and sort of complicated. You must go AROUND the Wedding Pavillion. That's not a huge problem, we'll keep it open and decide as we go.

After the fireworks, we shall take the monorail to MK and then grab a bus to our resort. And sleep like rocks. Well, rocks full of Lapu's and delicious seafood! ::yes::

So, my fellow pre-trippie friends....what do you think about that? Has anyone eaten at Narcoosee's? We have once and it was GREAT! Anyone have a favorite dish? Or cocktail? Are we right in taking the monorail to MK and THEN a bus to our resort? I am assuming that I can't get a bus to our resort from the Poly....

Well, folks, it's been a helluva day. :offtopic: My ds, Goofy, is in driver's training and I swear I am using my LAST batch of patience trying to FORCE him to be on the bus on time, finish his homework, floss around his braces, study his driver's training manual and get to bed on time. I may crack under this pressure. :sad2:

SO, that's it for Day Three! Hope you guys like this one. My favorite day is Day 4....:woohoo:

MEL:banana:

Hey all.....I dug up the photo of Gus eating at Narcoosee's. He LOVES him some scallops! No doubt, he'll get the same again....

Sorry, haven't eaten at Nacroosee's, we are BIG fans of Typhoon Lagoon. DS loves the wave pool. That is all he talks about. We tried Blizzard Beach, but it just wasn't as exciting for us. Of course, getting there at Noon didn't help since it was already full.

Sounds good so far!:thumbsup2

Oh, almost forgot, DH said while at South 21, along with the onion rings, you must drink a Cherry Lemon Sundrop. I personally like Cherry Limeades at Sonic better.

Sorry, Mel. I can't help you out much for this day. We've never done a water park and don't plan to in October, since neither child can swim well. We'll probably stick to the hotel pool.

We've also never eaten at Narcoosees, but Buzz just posted the review of his meal there on his trippie. It looked really good.

I have, however, had a Lapu Lapu and I have to say that it was yummy! The only problem I had with it is that the drink kept seeping out of the pineapple. By the time I was done, I had to remove the pineapple and drink the rest out of the plastic cup. No big deal, but it was a bit annoying. The drink itself was very yummy!

Can't wait to read about Day 4!

My family loves water parks and I have to say that in my personal opinion that if you are going to do just one of them I would go with Typhoon Lagoon. The slides are great and the wave pool is awesome! There are lots of shady places with loungers, they are just not right next to the wave pool most of the time.

We liked Blizzard Beach just fine but as another poster said it just does not hold the same excitement for us and I think it all has to do with the wave pool.

Anyway, feel free to state your case about which park as I am completely open to your suggestions. And, if one or the other happens to have a good SHADY area, LET ME KNOW!!! :sunny:
Our choice is BB, it has the best rides for my girls (we don't do the 2 huge scary rides though) the family raft ride is great, sooooooo much better than the one at TL. We get there right at opening do all the rides several times (even ended up having a touring plan :rotfl2: ) and be finished by about 11/12 :thumbsup2

I am assuming that I can't get a bus to our resort from the Poly....
We grabbed a boat from the Poly after Wishes back to MK and timed it just right to watch the water pagent thing from the boat :thumbsup2

WE LOVE the waterparks.
Both my kids like Blizzard Beach the best. Maybe it's that Ski Village feeling... and it being so warm.Don;t forget Summit PLumit ( NOT FOR ME MAN:scared1: ) But I do like the Sled racing. Maybe that was called Slush Gusher.
If you are "TOP HEAVY" and angle the front of your "sled" you will beat everybody to the bottom... Stopping..... EVENTUALLY ALL THINGS STOP !!!

Typhoon Lagoon was good too. I loved the Crush N gusher ( At least I think that was the name... ) it's the rollercoaster water ride.
Wave pool kids do not like at Typhoon Lagoon.. but your boys are older so my guess it would work better for them...

Can't help with water parks as I have never been to one. The one time we were at Narcoosee's was back in 2002. I don't remember much about it, other than we had a good time and there was a wedding party in there. Yep, bride groom and about 20 other people:confused3

I haven't been to the water parks either...sorry can't help ya there. But Narcoosee's I can help with! Love it!

We had an amazing dinner there for our 3rd anniversary this past Feb 4th. Yummy, yummy , yummy! I had some wine there too, $11 a glass but it was delicious! Chardonnay. We both had the surf and turf and it was great!

I think if you can time all the stuff right the night sounds lovely.

I'm in!!! But, WOW - ther's not a lot so far with which I can help. :guilty: I drive within FL everyday, but I'm pretty sure that's not what you're looking for. ;)

Anyway, feel free to state your case about which park as I am completely open to your suggestions. And, if one or the other happens to have a good SHADY area, LET ME KNOW!!! :sunny:
OK, I have an opinion on this one... I personally prefer TL, but I don't do slides. For older kids, I'd definitely suggest BB. :thumbsup2

Mel.. take some water slide advice ... When you are going down and your hands are crossed over your chest and You are Praying that you do not somehow drown in 5 inches of water..

Cross those legs tight together like you were trying to crack a walnut.. because if those things come apart... they will fly up... water will then get up your nose as it slides between your legs... and then my dear you just may drown in 5 inches of water...

OH.... and Heaven Help you.. if you get on a slide that has a "bump" for lack of a better word... and you "catch air"... Those legs WILL COME APART... and you will come down with a big SPLASH... and then the arms come off your chest.. and you open your eyes only to get an eyefull of water... And then you DROWN !!!

:rotfl: Sounds like somebody has had some bad water slide experiences. I can safely say that I have had no near death experiences at a Disney water park. :rotfl:

Well it's not as bad as it sounds.. just some "Vivid" pictures for your mind..
But yes it has happened to me... and it's funny. That's why I say to "hold those legs together as if you were trying to crack a walnut" :rotfl2:

Sorry, haven't eaten at Nacroosee's, we are BIG fans of Typhoon Lagoon. DS loves the wave pool. Yes, this seems to be the deciding factor for alot of people....

Oh, almost forgot, DH said while at South 21, along with the onion rings, you must drink a Cherry Lemon Sundrop. I personally like Cherry Limeades at Sonic better.Tell him, 10-4 good buddy. I'm going for it!

Sorry, Mel. I can't help you out much for this day. We've never done a water park and don't plan to in October, since neither child can swim well. That's why this is our first time at a Disney water park in 7 trips!

We've also never eaten at Narcoosees, but Buzz just posted the review of his meal there on his trippie. It looked really good. Yup, read it! :thumbsup2

I have, however, had a Lapu Lapu and I have to say that it was yummy! The only problem I had with it is that the drink kept seeping out of the pineapple. Dang, that stinks! I think I drank mine too fast for it to seep....:sad2:

Can't wait to read about Day 4! Posting tomorrow, today was NUTSO! Thanks for hanging around!

We liked Blizzard Beach just fine but as another poster said it just does not hold the same excitement for us and I think it all has to do with the wave pool.Your TR is my holy grail for what park to pick. Seriously, Lessa, if I hadn't seen your awesome wave ACTION shots, I might have never even considered TL! :woohoo:

We grabbed a boat from the Poly after Wishes back to MK and timed it just right to watch the water pagent thing from the boat :thumbsup2 We watched the pagent from the beach at the Poly one time and one time from the deck along the backside of Narcoosee's!

WE LOVE the waterparks.

Thanks for the info, Katt. My boys are older but not REALLY strong swimmers. I'm making notes on all your suggestions!

Can't help with water parks as I have never been to one. The one time we were at Narcoosee's was back in 2002.
Thanks for being here anyway!

Narcoosee's I can help with! Love it! Good!
We both had the surf and turf and it was great! That's my fave too...:thumbsup2

I think if you can time all the stuff right the night sounds lovely.
thanks Kat!

I'm in!!! Yay!!!! Hi V! Glad you came by! :woohoo: OK, I have an opinion on this one... I personally prefer TL, but I don't do slides. For older kids, I'd definitely suggest BB. Noted!

OMG Katt! I laughed so hard, DH came upstairs to see what was going on. I read your post to him and he said, "Great, she'll never get on one NOW..." Ha! :lmao: Seriously, I might not anyway. I just had surgery on my spinal column in November. Not sure my Neurosurgeon would like that!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks to everyone who's posted so far! I love reading your comments. It is really helping a bunch. I have a good list going so far for each water park. I'll make sure to update you with the choice when it's made!

MEL:banana:

If the boys are not STRONG swimmers... I would say Blizzard Beach.

Do ...Do the "sleds" Racing.. Boys will love them.. make it a Family race. You back should be able to handle them.

Katt! Your posts are hysterical!! :lmao:

We did BB 3 years ago on our first trip..It was hard for us because Annie was only 2 and a half at the time, so we really didnt do anything. we havent been back to a Water park since..

I think your idea of letting the boys meet you after Artists Point is a good one! they have cell phones,,they will be fine,,and they will have a great time with each other and will probably remember that as one of the best parts of the trip!

Do the boys know about the trip? I cant remember...
