Melbourne Airport?

Has anyone ever flown to the airport in Melbourne? I'm doing the CP, and my boyfriend wants to visit, but for the times and dates that work for us, flying into Orlando costs about $400...but the same times/dates cost $200 for Melbourne...it says its an hour and a half away from Orlando which is fine because I have a car. Does anyone have any experience with this airport? How is driving to/from it? How is the security there, does it take forever or is it quick? Is it worth saving $200 by flying into that airport?

I doubt you will have any problems with the Melbourne airport. You can take 192 to WDW or jump on 95 and 528. Taking 192 is like going across the plains. Doesn't get crowded until you get to St. Cloud, Kissimmee.

We've flown into Melbourne several times - nice small airport. We've always taken the first flight out and have never had a problem with lines at security.

Downside - no direct flights for us so we have to change in Atlanta which has caused some problems. we had flights delayed or cancelled due to problems in or out of Atlanta a couple of times. That meant being re-routed which would be fine, but they split DH and I up on totally different flights -- not good. Fortunately we were there early and able to get things changed.
