Is anyone else as dismayed as I am by the announcement that Meg Crofton is getting a window on Main Street? To put her in the same class as some of the others that are honored in those windows is ridiculous -that's just my opinion but I'd love to hear some reasons why she deserves it, other than her 30-years or so of service. Or maybe there really is that much of a disconnect between management and Disney fans?

Have you listened to this week's show?

That's a great idea. How about everyone put together their best ideas for how the window "should" read?

It shouldn't read anything.

The people on those windows are Disney legends - legends who contributed creativity and ideas to help Disney be the brand it is today.

Am I missing something did Meg do something I'm unaware of? Has she don't something original or creative that we don't know about?

She isn't even personable in interviews/PR pieces.

I understand that hard work and dedication are important aspects too and can be rewarded - but again what did she do?

I follow the corporate structure of Disney more closely than I feel like admitting to, and have become pretty familiar with the cast of characters that is Disney parks management over the years. We were at MK the day they had the signs up and the stage built announcing Meg f*ing Crofton was getting a window. My GF (who works for the company, had no idea who that was) couldn't understand why I as a Disney fan (and former CM) was so incensed that this person was getting the honor of having a window on Main St.

Seriously....

WTH...?!?

She must have dirt on someone .....it's the only logical explanation.

You never know what she has done for the company behind the scenes, she may have been responsible for great leadership/coaching etc... still don't know why that would get her a window. As fans however we do not see the full picture in all fairness.

From my standpoint, I can understand how you feel from a fans perspective. Just curious from a former CM point of view -what about her incensed you?

I guess my Cast Member POV and my my guest/fan POV sort of bleed together on this one....
As a CM we were taught how special the windows on Main Street were to the history of the parks, and as a (former) Disneyland Cast Member, those names on the windows are like the Mt. Rushmore of DL/WDW leadership and creation. I guess sometimes CM's see ourselves as part of the legacy/history of the parks and all that that entails, so it bugs me to see something so special cheapened to include someone whose contribution to the Disney legacy is dubious at best. It's like Pete said on the podcast, what's next...? Making her a Disney legend...?
During her time, the upkeep and simple maintenance of the parks was one of the biggest complaints I saw from people who pay close attention to such things.
Matt Ouimet, should have gotten her position plain and simple.

Like I said in my first post....I follow the players more than I should probably admit to....

No -not yet. But I figured it would be mentioned at some point. I actually was surprised it hadn't been brought up on the boards yet.

Here ya go...... FYI if it doesn't come up right go to 38min 16 sec mark
